A few days ago I saw a comment on Sundarkumar sir's channel on one of his videos where he was playing mridangam, saying I've never known or seen a kanjira player play such good mridangam or something on those lines. I was astounded by the amount of ignorance the person displayed, kanjira according to me is one of the most difficult indian percussion instruments, it's sad that it's often sidelined as an "upapakkavadyam". Great to see the quartet, and I appreciate the channel acknowledging the talent and taking this initiative. Loved the arunagirinathar inspired concept. Bramhavarchasam
I'm ashamed that i just discovered this....this deserves millions of views😍😍....there is so much stupid shit on internet with insane views....every indian instead should watch this beautiful piece of art!!!😊
Love love this performance! I know just about zero regarding kanjira and now I am fascinated that I want to learn more. Kudos to this quartet and to the MadRasana team!
When the quartet started to resonate together...it is bliss... that's the beauty of music... The traditional Indian percussions are on a different level.. truth be told, I enjoy the percussions the most in any classical performances, the alaaps , thaans etc are mesmerizing... But nothing compared to the jugal bandi or Thani aavarthan of the percussions... I salute to all the legends and especially those who are taking this amazing art to further heights amidst the electronic music era... Kudos to the quartet.. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
😯Too many Superlatives: brilliant Sync, nuances on an instrument that seems harder to bring about vis-a-vis other percussion instruments with such clarity & at a Recording quality to match ! 👏🙏
Ghibran is one of the music directors who portray the bliss of Kanjira in his compositions. I searched for the name of this instrument. Now, it's my favorite one.❤️
THIS WAS FASCINATING! No words good enough to describe it. However, there used to be a maverick Baul singer from Bengal .. the late TINKORI CHAKRABORTY .. I would urge viewers to look him up too .. and listen to his style of playing the Kanjira! Not for any comparison .. they are Chalk & Cheese .. but for variety!
Fantastic! This is awesome! Am so glad you guys have come up with this. Such a pleasure to watch all 4 together! Looking forward to more crazy rhythms and collaborations 💖
Sundarkumar's approach, even from the very first avarthanam he played, I could hear so much of Harishankar's style coming out there. Never a bad move to follow in the footsteps of a legend.
I am so happy to see all music videos in this channel and now bringing percussion as first episode in this season opens up more curiosity for the music lovers. Amazing work. Thank you everyone :-)
This genre of drumming focuses a lot on group unison playing. Contrast that to traditional African drumming where many different rhythms combine to make a whole.
Yes and no. Sabar drumming (from Senegal and Gambia) has a lot of long, unison passages; a lot of American drummers say it reminds them of drumline music in that way.
By closing your eyes and listening to the sound of the kanjira, one can literally sense the dance steps & movements made by Lord Nataraja. Besh👌🏿
I was thinking abt this ur comments where tgere
