    One pure riding video on beautiful road, no story, no voice, no drama, just pure engine sound. It felt me that I'm riding the machine. Loved the video. Keep posting such videos. Cheers!!

      If you liked the Tiger 800 XC be sure to test ride a non XC model. I tested both back to back and found the XC was a bit too soft and spongy. I ended up buying a 2012 black Tiger 800 (non XC) and can't fault it.

    So good to see you trying out lots of bikes. Because you ride fast it gives us a real idea of any weak spots - like the suspension on the XSR700. I've seen video reviews by journalists who said the suspension is good...but I never saw them ride the bike hard. I think also the journalists sometimes pick their words carefully for fear of losing advertising revenue.
    I can't wait to see your review of the BMW R1200R :)

    You are riding that Tiger 800 like a sportbike, and I have to admit that it's really impressive. I just came from a Street Triple 675 which is lightweight and aggressive, and it would have been awesome on that road, but now I own a Tiger 800 and it's just a much bigger and more relaxed bike. To hustle it through those corners this aggressively, especially if it's your first time riding the bike is legit!

    I have been eyeing off a bike of this sort for a couple years. I took a 2013 800 XC for a test ride on Friday, now I am buying it. It handles almost as well as my Tiger 1050, and Thunderbird on the road. Very super impressed.

    Triples rock.! I've just bought a 2016 MT09 ABS and the engine is a peach! So much grunt and sounds awesome with a full titanium Akra, even with the baffles in. Took it up to The Lakes on Sunday to do one of my favourite roads A5074 to Bowness and that bike was made for that road. Outstanding!

    I really love these Triumph, the 3cyl engine is responsive and sounds great IMO, the gearbox is so soft in your left foot and the riding position is comfy, and it's a great long-distance tourer since it's also frugal.
    I have only found two negative points, and both are easily forgotten over time:
    - THE PEGS: for a high-riding style tourer bike, its pegs are superlow, which means you'll scrap the shit out of them as soon as you're leaning a bit. I've been riding these in go-kart circuits and have completed whole laps without (almost) putting my feet on the footrests in any turn, so the could lift and adapt to the apexes' tarmac. When you get used to it, you just forget it.
    - THE ACCELERATOR: for the 2016 model, Triumph introduced an electronic accelerator, which has a teeny tiny delay. It's not that big of a problem but sometimes I watched myself stalling the bike while filtering through traffic or in really slow manouvers in which one is used to make little inputs to the throttle.
    Once you've overcome these negative bits, it's a really really really great bike. It pulls, it's comfortable, it's agile. For me it's the wiser option against the BMW, I just think Triumphs lacks the publicity / popularity, yet in my experience they're more reliable (BMWs tends to present electrical failures and costs too much to just remove a "fake" warning light)
    So yeah, if you're thinking about either getting the BMW GS or the Triumph Tiger, give this last one a try, you'll be gladly surprised.

    that's exactly it, mr. schaaf. same here: i've always been a sporty rider. after a couple of nakeds (including a speed triple - still really loving those triple-engines) over the years, i ended up buying a KTM 1190 adventure. simply because priorities changed a little towards touring. but i never wanted a touringschwuchtel-bike. touring with a lot of sport was my requirement. and the KTM does just that.
    yes: maybe it's a bit too big for my 173cm and yes, maybe 150hp is not really necessary on a touringbike. i also considered buying the ADV 1050, but the price-difference wasn't that big up to the 1190.
    so, be sure to try out one of these things. and whenever you're in the area of soizbuag/OÖ give me a shout for a testride.

    For your riding style I suggest the more road oriented Tiger XR, the even more roady Tiger Sport (1050). Beyond Triumph you could look at the Yamaha Tracer 900, the forthcoming Ducati Multistrada 950 or KTM 1090 Adventure. Then there's the BMW XR1000, but I'm not sure you'd have as much fun with that much power!

From the start you screw that right hand grip right back and go for it!! Well now we know the type of bike that would be on your Christmas wish list, all that's needed is the money!! Since Triumph was originally founded by a German; then I think it's a good roundup. Loved the review btw. It was one of the deciding videos on the bike that allowed me to go and buy one as my everyday commute. Watching this really helped me to know that you can still have fun in the twisties. Thanks so much.

    Die etwas weich anmutende Vorderbremse hat einen einfachen Grund Vale: Das Teil soll auch auf unbefestigtem Untergrund bewegt werden können. Wenn du da eine giftige Bremse verbaust, liegst jedes mal auf der Go wennst auf Schotter unterwegs bist :)
    Is bei meiner GS auch so und hat mich am Anfang auch genervt. 2-3 mal voll reingreifen und wenn das ABS anspringt hast vertrauen dazu.

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      auch eine weich ansprechende Bremse darf fest zupacken, wenn man ordentlich Druck am Hebel aufbaut. GS und Multistrada schaffen das, die 800er Tiger leider nicht. Das ABS kommt auch unfassbar früh an. Die Bremse ist schlicht und ergreifend zu schwach für richtig flotte Straßengangart. Aber dafür wurde die XC auch nicht gebaut.

    I'm happy you like the Tiger! :D
    And indeed, the front brake is way to soft and weak, it may be fine for the XC version which is intended to do some more off roading, but for the XR (or road going version of the previous gen) I think it should be better. Ground clearance is also a bit iffy. It may be fun to scrape pegs and all, but I feel it runs out of ground clearance a bit too soon. On the other hand, that makes it easier to ride the bike at it's limit all the time which in itself is kind of fun. :)
    I could perhaps recommend having a go on a Tiger Sport, it offers the same sort touring riding position but with more power, better (MUCH better) brakes and a less soft and mushy suspension.

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  8 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @DaHitch
      @DaHitch 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Schaaf Meh, I really like the Tiger Sport as a bike, but I think it's kinda ugly. :p
      Also, imo, not super practical for traveling. I've got big square top loading panniers on my Tiger 800 and I love those. The smaller shaped panniers you get on the Tiger Sport seem really lame and impractical in comparison.

    I have owned my Tiger 800 XC for five years now and I do not intend to part with it.
    I’m in my sixties and the bike is so easy to ride. However I’m not as aggressive as you, my bike does not know the red line exists 😆😂😂 but I love taking it out on HWYs and dirt roads it handles both extremely well.

    I own the Striple, and I absolutely love it. Have been wanting to get a more touring/cruiser type of bike as well, but don't want it to be a triple, mainly because I already have one. Every time I get on the Striple though, I keep thinking of going for the Tiger 800 XR :D

    Well there is a solution to peg scraping/low ground clearance but it feels odd on the roads. You need to be more active with your butt/body. Ie you need to move on the seat/saddle and lean into the corners more with your body and forcing your knee more on the road. I scraped up pegs and silencers quite bad on bandit 600/Fzr1000 before I understood that I needed to be more active on the bike and basically jump off the bike into the corner while hanging onto the bike with one knee/leg. The bike will be more upright but the feeling of what the bike is doing in the corner will be less as you are not on the bike anymore so you cant change the line if you take that approach. But you probably know this, I just tell other riders what to do if they begin to scrape pegs and other parts of their bikes. :D

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't understand why you normally stay in the line of your bike (I'm not criticizing it, i love it), but sometimes, at 4:05 for example, you move your body, or your head at least, out.

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There is nothing to understand about my riding. I ride whichever way I want it RIGHT NOW. It's the same with waving at other bikers. I always do it whenever I feel like it. Here I just wanted to know how hangoff feels so actually I did it for a reason. Usually I do it because I feel like it.
