    Like mentioned at the beginning you guys will need to watch the first part if you're interested in my opinion about the bike. I certainly loved it. The seven minutes of total riding experience with the Tiger before recording this rather quick RAW say it all in my opinion. I really appreciated this thing's rideability. Very simple and confidence-inspiring to handle. Would love to see and feel how much more fun the 'road' versions of the Tiger are one day. Although I'm also pretty certain that the bike's softness actually is a big part of why I enjoyed riding it this much. On a wobbly bike the riding will always feel much more dramatic and even quicker in the end. While being the total opposite actually. I just love the kind of drama those wobbly and soft machines add to the mix. It's just what I love and appreciate on my own Little Honda as well!

    Thanks for the ride man, the sound of that Tiger is amazing, would love to own one some day. It is a proper enduro/tourer yet seems so light and nimble comparing to say big Tenere or even a Strom. Looks like a perfect all around bike. That place by the signs at 5:02 is becoming my favorite piss stop whenever i'm on that road. :)

I need to adnit 1200 was much better, more fun to ride, more responsive I felt much more comfortable on the 1200cc. what surprised me is that I could push the bike on the road like it is a sport bike. so easy to handle besides the huge size of the bike.

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      examples please. As far as I'm aware I'm not. And I was the one who was riding the bike therefore I guess I'm the only one who knows.

    • @fat_biker
      @fat_biker 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I went through the whole video, annotating a shedload with discussion, and then clicked on next video before I'd save the comment... D'oh!
      So here's just the first clearcut one... 0:41 seconds... imagine a car pulling out of or turning in to that entrance on the apex, and you were doing 35mph+ on a line where you probably ought to have been doing about 15mph... or you could have taken a wider line & turned in a lot later and only had to go a bit slower... there were a couple of examples later of you piling into unsighted dead ground (i.e. bits of road where you don't know what is on them even if you do know where they go) at 60mph+... I don't think you need me to point those out to you...
      Just mentioning it. I know we are here for a good time not a long time, but hitting a stationary or turning vehicle at 60mph is a mistake we usually only get to make the once...

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you do realize I check the road before going for a video run? You do know I could ride this road blindfolded? Still I agree that I am taking risks indeed. But I'm not putting anyone else in danger more than all other bikers are doing. I actually tend to say I'm less of a risk for others even because compared to an estimated 70% of all bikers here in Austria I at least know how to ride a bike. And if you really think that I don't realize that hitting a stationary object with 60 mph would be the last thing to hit I do feel offended. You're depicting me as incredibly stupid and clueless person for not knowing this. I just love how some people legitimize themselves to judge over others through watching an ultra wide action camera video (distorts everything) without knowing how the riding does feel to the person who's doing it. I would never ride like this if I wouldn't feel at a 100% control all the time. I'm guessing that maybe you're a driving instructor or something like that which apparently gives you the confidence to judge. Would I act as ignorant as you I'd take a look at your profile picture and say that you need to work on your body positioning. A lot. But it's a simple photo and I don't know under which circumstances it got taken. Therefore I don't judge.
      Do you REALLY think I'm not aware of the risks I'm taking?

    • @fat_biker
      @fat_biker 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well... I commented that I thought you were being quite brave, you said you weren't and asked for examples, so I went through and found several... and then lost them again. But I gave you one. And now you are saying that you know you override your sight lines but you are happy to take the risk, which may be the answer but isn't what you first responded with.
      I don't think 'checking the road first' has much to do with anything. I mean, if you know a stretch of road really well, well enough to know the profile of every corner in advance on approach, then at least you aren't going to pile into a fast sweeper at 80mph and have it turn into a hairpin unexpectedly, although if it's a road you've only ridden up and down the once, it definitely could happen, and you're always going to have those 'Oh shit I thought the next corner was a fast left not a slow right' moments. Still, even if you do know the road intimately enough not to be caught out, other traffic is a variable hazard.
      While I agree that you are _mostly_ risking your own neck, not other people's, that's not 100% true - there are other vulnerable road users who might die in your accident, and I don't envy the job of the paramedics who have to scrape what's left of you up and bag it up if it does go wrong, that sounds like a job that could really mess with your head...
      I might also note that you didn't really use road positioning to mitigate the risk. There was more than one occasion in a right hander for example where if you'd been positioned further out towards the white line, rather than in the right hand gutter or trying to take a classic track-style apex, you would have been able to see further ahead, and be seen from further ahead; if you don't want to reduce your speed, use positioning to extend your sight lines...
      Riding bikes is awesome fun, and riding fast particularly so. It's dangerous enough already, though, just because you are doing ridiculous speeds on an iron horse feet away from very solid scenery, without adding to it by doing things that you know _will_ go badly wrong if you keep doing them, surely? .
      Anyway, none of these things matter if you are happy with the approach you take to fast riding.

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I indeed am very happy with my approach. Thanks for sharing your concerns.

    Being the XC version of the Tiger, do you remember what tires they were running on that bike. I am very impressed on how you hard you are able to ride on what are relatively skinny tires and likely 80/20 tires or similar. You should try the MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800. I do not have one, but I've ridden one. And I do have a 2012 Tiger 800XC. The Turismo Veloce brakes better than the Tiger, it accelerates better than the Tiger, and it handles better than the Tiger... By a great margin. But yes, it is an MV Agusta so you buy the bike and the headache should follow because something mechanical electrical might happen... but it performs brilliantly well and it is a great touring bike as well. Oh yes, it sounds better than the Tiger as well. Maybe you should go to an MV Agusta dealer and ask them to let you ride one, just for the sake of riding it. You are at a point on your channel, with more than 20K followers, that people will want to have you ride bikes because you may help selling the bikes for them. This is just a thought. Anyway, great work on your videos!

    • @Schaaf

    I couldn't agree more with your conclusion that the Tigers brakes are too weak. I've owned 2 different Tiger 800s ('13 and '15) totalling over 70K km and that would be the one thing that bothers me most about it.
    Triumphs explanation that it has softer brakes because it's considered an offroad bike does strike me as odd though considering the previous and current gen Tiger Explorer has awesome front brakes. If this was a valid point of view I'd accept it if they would have these brakes on the XC (offroad) version of the bike, but why they keep them on the XR (road) version of the bike is beyond me.

    Hi Schaaf, Super Video wie immer :D ich hätte ne kleine Frage da du ne Enduro gerade fährst vielleicht kannst du oder einer der Community mir weiterhelfen.
    Ich fahre seit ein paar Wochen mit der ner CB 500 PC26, mein Vater hat sich jetzt eine Enduro von Suzuki gekauft um mit mir mit zu fahren und weil er von der kleinen Honda so begeistert war ;) , Laut Ihm fühlt sich das Heck der Enduro ab ca. 120 km/h so an als macht es sich selbstständig bzw. schwimmend, wir konnten diesbezüglich nichts in den Foren finden, ist das bei Enduros durch die Bauweise normal oder hast du hier nen Tipp an was das liegen kann.

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kein Ding. Ich hab' selber nur mit relativ wenigen Mopeds Erfahrungen, die Freewind kenne ich nicht. Aber alleine wenn ich mir das Datenblatt und die Bilder davon ansehe, dann kann ich mir sehr gut vorstellen, dass die bei Geschwindigkeiten von 120 km/h schwammig/schwimmend wird. Ich würde das tatsächlich als normal betrachten. Auf einer 1996er Africa Twin war ich heuer mal unterwegs. Da schwimmt alles, so bald man ein wenig flotter unterwegs sein möchte!

  • @jpsv9531
    @jpsv9531 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    That lovely triple engine note just makes you want to thrash them! What tyres on this bike if you can remember? Soft front helps the bike to turn. Most people have their forks set up way to hard and complain their bikes won't go around corners! some progressive springs would sort that out if you like to brake hard.
    Shame Triumph dont make a supermoto version of this bike. Im rather surprised how much you liked this bike as a friend had one but found it difficult when pushed. This bike looked great in your hands Schaaf.

      They look like they inspire confidence for a dual tyre. This bike has the 21 inch front yes? Really looks like it handles well. Has the rear been stiffened up, as it seemed to power out of bends really well? I have ridden a Tiger Sport and that was great… but a little heavy. The new Yamaha T7 should be great fun.

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  7 ปีที่แล้ว
