Thank you guys so much for Flite Test. RC Flight is a hobby that I have been wanting to get into for a very long time. Unfortunately in my area the hobby stores saw me as cash rather than a customer and tried to sell me on stuff that was way out of my league in price and learning curve. Thanks to you guys I now know I don't have to spend a few hundred on my first Tx, and a few hundred on my first plane. You make this hobby far less intimidating, and more approachable. Thanks again.
you guys are awesome!! I used to be into rc and now im getting back into it again! Im planning on buy the anycopter kit to do this! thank you so much for all your videos!!
Doh, wish this video was up a couple weeks ago, when I built out my anycopter. Oh well, despite making some mistakes, it all came out right in the end. Now just waiting on all the electronics!
Ok quick tip in case you dont know. To trim your screws most popular wire strippers have holes around the pivot, so if you know your length you can screw them into the holes and cut them leaving no rough edges. Note: it can be tough to cut bigger screws.
Just need to say, I posted a comment a while back which was negative, it seems that you did listen. In short i mentioned that your format was loosing its footing a bit. can i say that it seems that you guys seem so much better in the last few videos. Not sure if this was intentional or not, i would like to think i had some input (even though it is a very small point) into what has become a great show. Well done for staying grounded (sorry about the pun). Hope this made sense.
Dude I always felt tri copters were hard and intimidating to build but you make it look easy and give us a lot of information. Not Intimidated anymore. Think ill build this to fly this fall. Thanks Chad. Request....... Would love to see Bixler's Elaborate battery storage setup, through video or some pics at the end of one of your episodes???? Happy Flying Ibnair23
I was right to be afraid. I was having very dramatic control issues until I realized I was getting a serious flex in the motor mounts at times. I moved the mounts inboard and mounted the motors directly to the booms and problem solved! Now it flies great and I just need to tweak my settings to get it more silky.
Can we get an update on the Bat Bone? May have to wait for it since I missed the tri-370 kit by one day and placed an order for the electronics for it that should be here in a couple weeks. Hoping to have something for these electronics...
a tip to not lose orientation on a quad is to have different colors on the rotors. for example black on the two front and red on the two back. this also works on other multirotors
Great build video! Love the options you offer with this unique product! Although there are many videos regarding the KK2 board, would you consider making a "KK2 setup" video to help achieve successful maidens? As David is considered a pioneer with multi-rotor models, his advice would be well received! :-)
Hey Chad, I was just rewatching this one because I was putting me quad together and heard your comment on motors and I am getting ready to mount NTM28/30S's to my quad. Is this a bad idea on the Rotorbones?
Very nice video Chad. As with other items on your store, I'd love to be able to buy this, but postage to non-USA destinations is prohibitive. I would think you folks are missing out on some great sales in other parts of the world due to this.
so, would this kit be suitable for a complete beginner to RC aircraft of any kind? been watching everything you guys push out, and the bug is beginning to bite.
hey, i know that you have made a video about how to setup the gains for the gyros in the other controller board, but can you make a video about how to setup the gains for the gyros and the accelerometer for the KK 2.0 controller board. Thanks..
R u mounting the battery leads in series or parallel im using the kk2 with 4 escs to one lipo and can mot find any info oh how to connect all power leads
FYI that servo you have sitting on table.. many people - myself included - have had the main output shaft shear. I have 2 of them, 1 is still fine in a 450 heli but I personally wouldn't trust it and will be changing that one out in the near future.
never mind about my last comment...i found the video. but i have another question. can you make a quick tip video about how you put on the park300 motors? i can't figure out how it goes on
Guys from flite test, please make an electronics-build video. Lots of people ask for it but Chad said that there are plenty of articels. But i would like to hear is your installation of the kk2board.
Hey flitetest or any expert in here.. I was wondering...say if I have a Tri copter and I want to turn it to a Y6 copter.. counter rotating props.. do I need 2 of the KK2 board or just one.?
Im asking myself, if i build a octocopter, i get the build itself but not the controlling. Im just a noob in this type of hobby but which controller can you guys recommend?
how much quad list for just as you built it in this video. The package to build it, an also if you build it as it is here. do you have a catalog or website where to buy.
I am 14 and I have been watching your show for a few years now and want to make a lower buget tricopter but I'm not sure which one to get so I'd like some advice
Sorry, let me clarify a little. Your comment was not to use anything over a 45 gram motor. These NTM's are 66 grams and I am using 9x4.7 APC props... Now I am a little afraid... :/
a quick note about the camera work. I realise you guys want high production value but there are a little too much zooming in and out. stick to the slightly wide end of the lens and perhaps have a second camera for close ups.
hi can you i am just getting into quadcopters and i boutght the x525. can you please and i was if it would be possible to do some begginrs on quadcopters. Yes i have seen your videos on molti rosters but I was wondering if you could some more. thx i love your videos
Surely wood struts is a no-no. Wouldn't it be better to use plastic pipe, its about the same weight but is more resilient to impact and has a more aerodynamic profile.
chad i dont know if you corrected the few problems you showed us on this video but i just wanted to point out them. first off NEVER NEVER NEVER cut the wires on a outrunner motor because the wires that go right to the plugs are the same wires that are the coils. the other thing i saw was when you put the motor plate on the bottom of the mount you make the motor has nowhere to go when you crash even if the tip ties break because the motor shaft is running through your motor mount.
Oh Great now I want a copter But seriously Keep up the good work guys love the channel List of things to buy FT 3D P 51 FT cruiser rotor bones copter man hope the wife see’s my wish list :)
Chad... how about l-o-n-g rotor bone legs... for those of us that fly our cameras on the belly of the beast? I am flying the HEX and I think it would be fantastic to ad 4 - 6 long legs for landing when the camera in mounted belly side. :)
Where do i even buy the kit.... cant find it.. only found the plans.. and if thats it, not everyone has tonnes of cash lying around to spend on finding someone to make it for me.
Whats better for a first timer with a copter tri or quad I am an intermediate flyer been flying 15 years have 5 planes - 2 electric new to electric thanks love & hate the show love all the guys hate all the new toy's i want :)

The series are great. Josh, Josh, David, and Chad are interesting and informative to watch. I have build several of their projects this winter.
Just ordered the quad...along with a few swappables and a fan-pack! Now I can rock the gremlin in new videos with a new FT quad!
you guys are awesome!! I used to be into rc and now im getting back into it again! Im planning on buy the anycopter kit to do this! thank you so much for all your videos!!
Great video! Very good editing. You hardly notice most of the cutaways.
Thanks for the reminder -Chad
I can't wait to see the floating camera rig! That looks great!
I wish you had these in stock, I'd buy a quad kit now!
You guys do a great job!, going to get one of these for 1 of my boys birthday. Well done Guys.
Great video! Shows everything that is hard to find anywhere else!
Excellent Chad! Especially looking forward to the David inspired Gopro mount.
Just orderd the Tri copter kit, thank you FliteTest.
Thanks for the greats vids! I greatly appreciate the DIY aspects of what I've seen so far.
Doh, wish this video was up a couple weeks ago, when I built out my anycopter. Oh well, despite making some mistakes, it all came out right in the end. Now just waiting on all the electronics!
Great stuff, looking forward to the camera rig video!
Thank you very much Chad! I could use a little help with choosing ESCs, and motors, and do I have to reprogram the ESCs?
Nicely done. Easy to follow. Paint the wood to keep it from warping?

Very Cool! Think Coanada Thruster would work instead of props in getting something to fly?
Can we get an update on the Bat Bone? May have to wait for it since I missed the tri-370 kit by one day and placed an order for the electronics for it that should be here in a couple weeks. Hoping to have something for these electronics...
it looks like the anycopter kit is now shipping with screws and nuts. Does it also come with pre drilled dowels? I don't have a drill!
a tip to not lose orientation on a quad is to have different colors on the rotors. for example black on the two front and red on the two back. this also works on other multirotors
I would like to now how much weight a multicopter is capable to lift? or how to calculate it?
Thanks Flitetest!
Is it possible to fold up the quad/tri by up screwing 1 screw on each leg or would that wear out the holes too much?
Cool glasses! What brand/model are they?
Yes, when are you guys finally going to get this sorted out? Have you made any progress?
@timo martens I would recommend one of the DX remote. Either the DX7 or DX8. Would be good.
Can you show what you can do to add some lightweight lighting for night flying.
I was thinking about making the quad but decided i am going for the tri is that the right choice because the tri does have more yaw authority

Hey Chad, I was just rewatching this one because I was putting me quad together and heard your comment on motors and I am getting ready to mount NTM28/30S's to my quad. Is this a bad idea on the Rotorbones?
what was the total price of everything used?
Nice tip with the velcro on the strap matching the velcro on the battery. I'm gonna go swap my battery strap around, lol.
Very nice video Chad. As with other items on your store, I'd love to be able to buy this, but postage to non-USA destinations is prohibitive. I would think you folks are missing out on some great sales in other parts of the world due to this.
I recomend a zip-tie gun. It'll tighten those zip-ties to spec. Used one for years in the telephone industry. Just a thought.
It might just be me, but there are times with certain words where you sound similar to David lol. Keep up the great work.
when u GLUE the kk2 on the foam, did u use hot glue or what?
i don't want to damage such a nice piece...
Does it come with or without wood-worms?
Very cool! How much does this setup run?
so, would this kit be suitable for a complete beginner to RC aircraft of any kind? been watching everything you guys push out, and the bug is beginning to bite.
are you going to have a follow up video for the camera mount or not? because i can't find it
hey, i know that you have made a video about how to setup the gains for the gyros in the other controller board, but can you make a video about how to setup the gains for the gyros and the accelerometer for the KK 2.0 controller board. Thanks..
Great to see a video where chad features a lot
hello, is there any complete package with copter, elctronics, and software avaible to buy, that has a similar quality to this one?
Can I know how thick the wood is for the plates?
R u mounting the battery leads in series or parallel im using the kk2 with 4 escs to one lipo and can mot find any info oh how to connect all power leads
Hey guys what type of wood are the booms you use?
Hi! -Chad
I wish i had a quadcopter like this, are there Any plans????
FYI that servo you have sitting on table.. many people - myself included - have had the main output shaft shear. I have 2 of them, 1 is still fine in a 450 heli but I personally wouldn't trust it and will be changing that one out in the near future.

More multirotors! Love em!
will a futaba 6ex radio system be good for the quad set up like in this video
Guys from flite test, please make an electronics-build video. Lots of people ask for it but Chad said that there are plenty of articels. But i would like to hear is your installation of the kk2board.
You should disable LVC on ESC when using for copter.

Me too... I get so confused and frustrated cause of how pricey electronics get :(
Can't wait when you guys get better deal on shipping.
hey
how many tilt motor mounts do you put on a quad?
What happened to the episode about how to paint the spitfire I just built?
chads first build vid?!
Whats the material of the wood boom?
Sorry, let me clarify a little. Your comment was not to use anything over a 45 gram motor. These NTM's are 66 grams and I am using 9x4.7 APC props...
Now I am a little afraid... :/
hmm... what if you build a quad. or a hex or oct copter.. and use the stering for the Y copter on all of the sparrs...
should i get this or the bat bones
How do you program the transmitter?
chad,
this is my setup for my quad
d2830 1000kv
2200mah 3s
30a esc
how long is my battery run time?
a quick note about the camera work. I realise you guys want high production value but there are a little too much zooming in and out. stick to the slightly wide end of the lens and perhaps have a second camera for close ups.
Could you use 15amp turnigy plush speed controllers ?
do these kits ship to sweden? i really want one :D

use an voltage alarm?
Btw, the sheet of paper with the kit has the top and bottom plates marked reversed

@Phillip
Take a look at the flitetest website, lots of good info about this stuff on there.

Great video and some great ideas
