    It appears Hongdui are now producing the HD-TB01 Premium Mitre Gauge with a T-type bar compatible with DeWalt saws! Looks like a Bosch one is also coming. Link for Dewalt version - uk.banggood.com/custlink/vDG9REYBeV

      @@BischBaschBosch I have the Incra ‘guaranteed square’ square. It is a quality investment, but I really only ever need combination square enough. I’m not bashing Incra, but the Hongdui offering is first rate. It casts a long shadow, and Incra are in the shade.

    Yeah. Same experience.
    Got the Hongdui gear a few weeks ago and really impressed. Couldn't be happier.
    It knocks the sock off the Incra gear for all the reasons you point out. And, I have to confess, I felt a bit of a fraud having such a 'pro' piece of kit but I came to terms with that quite quickly... Buy cheap, buy twice, etc, etc.
    I'll be trying to sell the Incra stuff but, after this vid, there may be a bit of a glut on the market...

    Hongdui are really starting to gain traction in recent months. Dennis at Hooked on Wood has long been singing their praises here in Europe, Katz-Moses has gone into partnership with them with the magnificent router plane in the land of barleycorns and cubits.
    A little rich, and over engineered for my requirements, but I can see the need for the precision in your chair making (which I am in awe of by the way!). I went for the Enjoywood mitre gauge and fence, which is good enough for my needs. Anyway, the wife won't let me buy the Hongdui!

    Bought the mitre gauge a while back and paired it with the enjoywood M1 pro. It makes for a nice combination especially as I added a drillpro micro adjustable flip stop. This new hongdui fence is very nice and it's been on my radar for a couple of months. I keep telling myself I don't need it, but I DO want it!! Agree. For the quality of tool, it's great value. Btw - assuming you have it - the little thumb screw behind the protractor for releasing the indexing, if you add a washer to it, it will fully lock down when pulled back, disengaging the index feature. Useful for half degrees if needed. 👍

  • @Timwoodworks

    big advantage of the incra is the repeatability thanks to the indexing, although it indeed makes the sliding less smooth

    • @BischBaschBosch
      @BischBaschBosch  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's true. In fact, the indexing being so good for repeatability/consistency is why I said it kind of makes the second flip stop/rod void for me in use - doing say a lap joint. On the Hongdui, the scale is so clear , as are the cursors that I have a lot of confidence in it too.

Guess were going to see a lot of them on eBay soon? Your video reminded me of your rip fence addition, how's it treating you after 12 or so months? Wanting to to do similar upgrade to my antique table saw. Keep up the good work!

      Thanks man. I mean, i did really like the dual flip stops and indexing on the incra but, i just think in hindsight, a clear scale and micro adjust stop is easier to live with, real world. Incras had 20 years to improve and perfect the design and they haven't. Shame really. On the "rip fence" thing - do you mean my anti-tip attachment for plunge/circular saw fences? If so, i still use mine. I don't produce them anymore though. Too expensive to manufacture unfortunately.👍

    Hi @BischBaschBosch
    Do the Incra and Hongdui fences have the mounting t-track that connects them to the miter gauge at the same height? I.e., could I mount a Hongdui fence to an Incra gauge and vice versa? I know Incra fits directly into a Festool CSC SYS miter gauge, and I'm trying to figure out if Hongdui would fit too. TIA!

    • @BischBaschBosch
      @BischBaschBosch  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi. The Hongdui fence slot at the back sits around 30mm from the table top to it's centre. Like the Hongdui gauge, the Incra has oval mounting slots on the gauge for different height fence mounts. Whether Incras gauge would accommodate the 30mm centre of the Hongdui fence I couldn't say but if you have one, you can check. The Incea fence fits the Hongdui gauge (that was my set up) but, the flip stop does run into the gauge top so you have to lift it slightly when positioning over. As for the bars in the mitre slots, both the Incra and Hongdui use the 19mm bars so, if the Incra runs in your saw, the Hongdui should too.👍

  • @mikeconroy2651
    @mikeconroy2651 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Do bother miter bars stick out past the fence surface by the same amount? The Hongdui looks a little short, but it could just appear that way because it's so beefy. I have that Incra and love it although the Hondui looks better. I guess following is always easier than leading, but it all drive innovation!

    • @BischBaschBosch
      @BischBaschBosch  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I used the same mitre gauge bar with each. If anything, I think the Incra fence is more chunky in the body where it meets the gauge and so, on the Hongdui, the bar sticks out a little further. I think what bothers me about the Incra- good as it is - is they haven't changed it in 20 years. They haven't finessed or even recognised it's shortcomings. I think this has allowed Harvey, Jessem and now Hongdui (very similar to Harvey) to surpass them. Well, for my needs anyway.👍

    • @BischBaschBosch

      If I remember right, one of the dewalts has a 19mm slot, the other a 24mm slot. If you have a 19mm, the Hongdui gauge would fit fine. If you have the 24mm slot, i don't know. 5mm is a lot of gap to fill with nylon screws. You might be better off fitting the Hongdui gauge to the dewalt mitre bar🤷‍♂️

  • @smorgasbord42
    @smorgasbord42 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thanks for the hands-on review. However, you failed to mention that the Incra double stop with included bar is rock solid without needing that Hondui secondary stop that isn't flip and needs to be reset every time you set the stop. Also for accuracy, do not set the miter gauge fence to be square to the blade, what matters is that the fence is square to the miter bar. That's even easier to calibrate as well as more accurate.

    • @BischBaschBosch
      @BischBaschBosch  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Each stop on the Incra, singularly, will move as much as the Hongdui stop unassisted. Very little but detectable all the same. The Incra stops only become solid if you join them with the bar. As does the Hongdui with its secondary stop.
      My table saw is home made, based around a Mafell KSP 85. The mitre track - which came after (used to have sliding table) - was squared to the blade. The blade is the datum on my saw. The results speak for themselves. Thanks.

    • @smorgasbord42
      @smorgasbord42 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BischBaschBosch For miter gauge work, the slot is the datum. Think about using the miter gauge on a router table - you can't square a fence to a round rotating bit. Squaring the fence to the blade simply introduces other possibilities for error, not just from any blade/slot misalignment, but from the blade itself perhaps not being perfectly flat (you'd have to reference against the teeth, but that's not good for the square).
      You are correct that the Inca stop only become super solid when joined with the bar, but when done so (as it comes from Incra standard), it's solid everywhere automatically without the hassle of setting a second stop. There's also that the Incra stop and fence profiles are such that thin stock won't slip under, although you do point out the potential for damaging a mitered tip. Your points about the lack of practical micro-adjustability on the Incra are spot-on.

    • @BischBaschBosch
      @BischBaschBosch  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@smorgasbord42 Yes mate, on a normal table saw where a cast iron top (or aly) has a slot and the saw carriage has adjustment to align to the slot in the table. I built my table saw. The saw is fixed. No position adjustment. The fence and the track have adjustment and are set to it. Hence I'm perfectly happy setting my gauge to it. If my cut was still out of square, I would have known it was the mitre slot and adjusted accordingly. I appreciate the advice is coming from a good place but I'm not new to this my friend. Quite the opposite I could have maybe said something about why I set like I do. I'll note it for the future.

    Did I hurt your feelings. Just stating facts Mate! You're correct in that they could do a little to improve their products and niceties but I've been to China 100d of times. Have you? They copy everything and I am not saying their newer stuff isn't ok. It is. But it also took them stealing the ideas. And finally after years adding a little metal here and there to beef it up a bit. There you go. I like your channel and appreciate your comments. But like I said. Been there and they try to sell you so much that's junk. Promise. As far as a couple companies lately they have started making better quality things.
    Lastly. It does seem to in hate INCRA. But I don't see any Chinese tablesaw fences that are the best like INCRA. I mean using these that will get with thousandths. Much less hundreds. They just used that concept on their small fences which most people don't really know how to use them in the movement etc. anyway. Didn't mean you or your channel harm. Good luck with it .

    • @BischBaschBosch
      @BischBaschBosch  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm just tired of how triggering a lot of Americans and Incra fans find this video. You don't see a lot of those comments here because they were full of political bullshit which I keep the comments here clear of. The fact is, I found the Hongdui mitre gauge and fence set up objectively better - in every way - than the Incra gauge and fence I was using before. And in this instance, the Hongdui are unique products, not coppies. With these products, Incra have laid on their laurels and, other brands have left them behind (Hongdui, Jessem and Harvey for example).
      Personally, I think it's a great thing that finally, in the woodworking sphere, there finally is a Chinese brand that gets it, producing high quality, original tools and accessories, rather than budget knockoffs.
      If people can't see or appreciate that, giving over to blanket dismissal coz China, well, it's just daft. Me being in the UK, makes no difference if I'm importing a tool from US, Canada Japan, China or Germany. It's about what works and where the value is. That's it.

    @Bawdsey64 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I would say that your review is fair BUT what you FAILED TO POINT OUT is that both of the INCRA units have been on the market, I think, for over 20 years. Whereas the Hongdui Fence is a very recent introduction and therefore should incorporate technical advances.
    Having visited INCRA in Dallas many years ago when I owned Wood Workers Workshop and had the INCRA franchise, I sold the business and retired in 2013, I would expect Hongdui's production equipment to be more advanced than what INCRA had back then, and that should show in the product offering.
    Wood Workers Workshop has grown significantly under its new owners and still holds the INCRA franchise.

      Yes, WWW is where I bought my Incra from. Peter Sefton is WWW's owner now I think? Great store. Nice guy too. I appreciate your point and funnily enough, I was going to mention the Incras age (As in time on the market, not my particular fence). I omitted it as I think it would have been another strike against Incra and I didn't want to be too harsh. It struck me that the fact the Incra has remained unchanged for 20 years, unrefined, is a poor show. As I've hopefully shown, whilst fundamentally a solid fence product from Incra , there's plenty of scope for improvement.

    This looks like a nice mitre fence and gauge, I am sure it has some advantages over the incra and some disadvantages. Here is my concern about the recent obsession about China tools, and each indivdual has to make uo their own mind, at some point, supporting China made goods, which are often rips offs of North American R&D will cost! Ill leave it there for each to ponder. Thank you for the video

    • @BischBaschBosch
      @BischBaschBosch  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The Hongdui gauge and fence are exceptional. And are unique, not rip offs of N American R&D. Incra have stood still for 20 years. Plenty of time to refine these products but chose not to.
      Obsession is a strong word. It's not obsession, more that Chinese manufacturers have "arrived" now. They've moved beyond cheap knock offs (though those are still available) and - as is the case with companies like Hongdui - are creating unique, exquisitely made and, compared to the West, reasonably priced tools and accessories.
      Sure, China has engaged in blatant coppying, reverse engineering and industrial espionage even. But that's nothing new and, let's not pretend western companies haven't made out like bandits from the cheap manufacturing offered by China!
      You can still buy genuine N American if that's your preference as I can buy British. In the end though, I couldn't give a shit where something's from. If it's good and assists me in producing quality work, I'm for it. I have many tools from the US, Britain (of course), Japan, Canada, Australia and Germany. I am pleased to be able to add China to that list personally.

      It is very good. I think only the Harvey mitre gauge/fence come close.👍

    I think that having a good drop saw (if you have one) will be much easier. You'll be much better off, just build 2 extension wings for the drop saw...

      I have one. Great for rough cuts/sizing but, I find mitre saws too inconsistent for fine work. Different machines for different tasks. I actually use an over-router to mill the mitred faces for my furniture.

    Hongdui is like iPhone quality from the top to the bottom and miter gauge in the woodwork industry is very very important it have to accurate exact like Rolex is few on the market prices is like for the quality to expensive like vevor jess em harvey incra Rutland I personally won’t expend 20 pounds in one them but hongdui works every penny 250 pounds for that quality not expensive at all thanks very much sleep well 😴

      For mitre gauges and fences, I would say Harvey and Hongdui are about the best. 👍

      That's very kind. Thank you! Well, hopefully you're as happy with the Hongdui products as I am! Let me know when you receive them. Always curious about what others make of the tools.👍

      @@BischBaschBosch No prob :-) Will let you know my thoughts when i have received the order and done a little testing :-) I see temu has faster shipping then Banggood,6 weeks delivery time compared to temus 2-4 weeks,temu does not sell Hongdui though.And shipping cost from banggood was also rather high i think,hope the wait will be worth it 😉

      @@BischBaschBosch Hi again and here is my update.I have now received my orders,they got delivered after 13 days,so better then what I initially feared.I am overall very pleased with the quality.Here is what i ordered : Tablesaw stock guides,KM17Pro router plane,kerfmaker and the scraper.I also ordered some none Hongdui products.There is though a problem with the fence,it is rough or naggy (if that is a word hehe) in the slide mechanism on the extencion,and also i did not receive the deflection stop block.I have now a case going with Banggood.I have sent them pictures trying to explain but they say i have received everything i am suppose to.They say the knob on the flip stop is the deflection stop 🤔🤯......and do not even comment my problem with the slide......time will show how this experience end,,,not looking good at he moment in regards to the service level of Banggood.I can mension that i have ordered lots and lots from Temu and the service they have is GREAT,never a problem,always service minded and easy to deal with.
