Seriously you must be inside my head on all these videos! Another good one and I've been eyeing the Banggood version BUT I also took a Crack at making mine own when the cheaper version didn't exist. I was actually successful but 1) it took a long time and had to get some parts like the knurled thumb wheels and 2) it was a bit harrowing... can't believe I still have all my fingers cutting slots in small hardwood parts! So a cheap version is totally worth it!

I didn’t know these even existed. I love the concept. I just moved from another town. I had a great workshop there. The new owners loved my shop and bought the house and my complete workshop. So now I have built an new shop at my new location. I am currently outfitting it with all new equipment and tools. The house on this property was built in 1973 and needs a lot of help. So I am doing a complete gut and remodel. These would be a great help when I start the cabinets and trim in the house. I enjoy your vids. Keep them coming. Very helpful!

Now here we are three years later. I just purchased this and it is February 2024. I love the bridge city tool. From the packaging the customer service and the products it is unbelievable. Thank you very much for doing this video to further educate me in the use of this great tool.

No need to apologise! We are all very grateful to individuals like you, who take the time to share your experience.
I purchased the banggood version at the end of last year as it was on offer at £16 sterling. I have a sled for my table saw and just don't enjoy how messy cutting long rebates with a router is.
Thanks for the clear explanation on how to use the tool.

I am late to the table as usual. Everytime I watch you work I learn something I did not know. I own both of these tools. I am not really strong. Both of them I use regularly for different work. However… I always seem to migrate to Bridge City Tools. They just feel better in my hands and I have BIG problems with my hands. You cant go wrong with either tool. I use my BCT without a doubt more often across the board. They just work extremely well. Bridge City Tools are without a doubt a forever tools. Once you understand your tool they are awsome. Thank You. This is the best video ever on how to use these tools. I laughed at what I did not know…..

I do not have either of these, but have been looking at the Bridge City one as well as the plastic variant made by MicroJig (not a fair comparison). Over the years, I have been adding Bridge City Tools to my arsenal. To me, they are at least one step above in design, fit and finish of any tool they offer. When I was younger, I always went with the not quite top of the line. Now, I tend to go for the top shelf offering. You never have to justify settling for the very best. You can see the pride in everything Bridge City makes just by looking at the thought and engineering they put into the box the tool come in. Fantastic!
    >>>>>>>>>> THIS HAS BEEN AN UNPAID ENDORSEMENT. I DO NOT WORK FOR BRIDGE CITY OF ANY TOOL COMPANY. JUST A FANatic

Excellent video. I have only just come across your channel and am very impressed. As a (serious hobby and sometime seller) cabinet maker with 45+ years of experience, little inspires me more to watch well produced videos, communicated in an easy going way that show me something or a method or a process that I didn’t know.
Of course, there are many ways to do something right; and many ways to do it wrong. Your videos show relatively simple ways to achieve a high standard.
What makes a good craftsman? My answer would be accuracy and consistency through pride and patience. We may say that we strive for perfection but “perfection” in woodwork is quite different from “perfection” in precision machine engineering. Timber varies in how it deals with stress and moisture; plywood doesn’t vary like that so much but do varies in thickness across or along a board. We work with those inconsistencies to achieve a standard which satisfies us. Not absolute perfection but a lot more than “good enough”.
From a new, very happy subscriber.

Hello Jodie. As mentioned in previous comments I own some Woodpecker/BCT/Bangood tools-measuring devices. However like you also stated on several occasions I do not have one in the same tool from two different providers so I have never been able to do my own direct comparisons. I have the Bangood kerfmaker such as the one you demo’d in this video. The fit and finish and performance to my eyes is equal to that of BCT. I have owned and used it for about one year now and so far the knurled lockdown knobs are working just fine. No slop or stripping of threads etc. it works flawlessly and am very happy with jt. I also have tenon maker and they work excellent paired together.
Another great video for the community

I bought one and I love it. Another great use is for t track dados. Best fit that I've ever had for t track......period. No "touching up" the dado after cutting it at all the 2 inch cutting width sucks a little. I have the hongdui version. It fell off of the tablesaw due to vibration and now there is a ton of play in it. If you pay attention and make sure that it's locked down straight, still works, but something to keep in mind on fit and finish.

Such an awesome concept! I've been doing this with a dado stack and always measuring, measuring and measuring some more to get the cuts the same across all my pieces. This really takes a lot of the work out of it and looks like I can do quick slots without going through all the set-up time of changing to a dado stack on my saw stop for just a piece or two.

  • @shandorszentkuti6330
    @shandorszentkuti6330 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Well explained, I’ve seen other demos and you made it much clearer as to how it works, and a few options for setting the kerf. I have a saw that doesn’t fit a dado and I’ve always struggled with getting tight fits. My method has been to take a scrap piece of the shelf and cut it thinner by the blade width, then place it to move the stop block and hope it’s tight.

These look useful and nice. For those on a budget, the wood blocks you used in your third calibration method will work just as well but slightly less conveniently. Put stock thickness and two short blocks between work and stop block for one cut, and long block between work and stop block for the other.

Thanks for the demo, excited to use it
Update: it sucks! Either there’s a learning curve with this or it isn’t designed well. The direction the wheels are tightened down in can totally screw up locking down the kerf and it’s been unreliable so far. It’s hard to explain but anyone who has it I’m sure will face the issue I’m facing. I’ll be making my own jig at this point!
