Is the 2020 Honda CR-V Touring the BETTER compact SUV than a Toyota RAV4?

  • Honda has lightly refreshed the CR-V for 2020 to help it compete against Toyota's top selling RAV4. Under the hood is the 1.5L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 190HP & is mated to a CVT transmission. It's exterior receives an updated from fascia & new styles wheels. On the inside the updates are a little smaller. Is the 2020 Honda CR-V touring the better compact SUV than a Toyota RAV4?

The thing about these Hondas is that it looks like crap in videos, but look soooo classy in person. I was like "meh" over the TH-cam videos, but in person, I was like..."Ok, I'm taking this home!" lol

I just bought a 2020 crv touring “black edition” in Canada. I love everything about the car except for the stereo. For a 45k top line car the stereo is disappointing. It has “premium audio” but move the volume past 25 on anything rock or pop and there’s so much distortion. I’m going to have an after market system put in!

Hey Raiti, your videos are great! and I love watching them, but it would be nice to mention the known issues the vehicle has as well. I know you can't for the newly redesigned models but for the vehicles thats been out for a few years, it would be nice if you looked in to the known issues and mentioned them In the videos. You do a great Job explaining the Pros of the vehicles but it would be great if you can mention the Cons are well. For example the new 1.5t Honda engines have oil dilution problems, which includes the CRV your reviewing. anyone that is considering to buy the vehicle would love to know these types of issues.

I really like your reviews as you are fairly detailed. Although, I do think you could provide more detail. As with the CRV, you don't talk about the remote features where the remote will open the windows and sunroof and also how to close all of that with the key. Also how the CRV has vents that open and close in the front of the car allowing it to be more aerodynamic and allow the car to heat up faster. Also the ACC how the Honda goes all the way to stop and then starts again. The CRV also has a tougher metal than the RAV4, that would be nice for you to explain. You are great but I think you could add more. Thanks.

Seems like a strange contrast but I just sorta feel that way now for some reason

It's pretty comfortable and spacious. I got the first model year of this redesign and I like it a lot. Test drove a used Lexus recently to see if I wanted to trade and I wasn't really blown away by the V6 or rear-wheel drive enough to trade in my car at a loss. The new CR-Vs (especially EX-L and up trims) are pretty nice and refined.

Hopefully they have a bypass switch. Problem is there is no way to permanently turn it off. You have to hit the bypass every time you start the car. At least on my BMW X3 the bypass switch is part of the push button start. So its pretty convenient to turn it off. OEM's have government incentives to put it in. Its only a matter of time they will all have this. And one day, they might not have a bypass either. They can be aggravating at times. Like stopping momentarily for a parking space and it shuts off. They are not very intelligent to say the least.

I’ve been looking at Honda, Toyota and Mazda.
For someone on a budget with kids. I will choose the CRV. More space, comfortable ride and seats. It might be a bit slower than Toyota or Mazda, but it’s still a reliable car with enough tech and gadgets to keep us safe.
I’m currently driving an 04 CRV and looking for an upgrade. Toyota RAV4 was my original choice but the more reviews I watch and the more comparisons I did, I am leaning towards the CRV again.

Great review, Joe! Still feel Honda is falling behind competitors with styling and not feeling it with the front interior styling.
Like you’d highlighted, the infotainment screen is tiny. Also, I knew you were going to note the wireless charging sitting so high. Phones will be flying. :)
