Genesis sports titles ran smoother than SNES sport titles. That's when I figured out that blast processing was probably real and not just a marketing myth.

I have supported many kickstarters and indiegogo campaigns for TH-camrs in the past, but the monthly subscription model is something I can't do. Good episode! Really liked the weather effects on SNES. It DOES add some level of immersion when you actually see the rain drops land on the field, instead of the rain just looking like and overlay. I remember playing some car game on PS1 as a kid, and the fact different levels had different weather effects blew my mind.

Finally managed to find some time for this episode and was no disappointed. While I've never been major into football Tecmo Bowl/Super Bowl was one of my favorite sports titles growing up. Once again you guys nailed it on every front.
You guys sometimes do NES vs. Master System. Any chance we'll ever get a N64 game vs a Saturn game, or even a Game Cube game vs a Dreamcast game? The Saturn and 64 have few games in common, but you sometimes do similar games. Some of the Dreamcast's library got ported to the Game Cube, so a 1 to 1 is possible there.

Also, I've seen a video of SNESDrunk just today about a game that I didn't even know existed, Disney's Pinocchio, and he even stated that it was released for the SEGA Genesis too, so I thought about you guys and that maybe it could be an interesting idea for an episode, sometime far away in the future.
SNES drunk videos are amazing, i like them a lot... I also didn't know about Piniccho until last year, when a friend of mine who works with used stuff gave me that cartridge. It's really an ok-ish game, but after u finish it, u don't feel very compelled to play it again... Funny how some games just lack that "thing" that makes us want to play them again and again...

In reality, I don't own the cartridge now and I didn't played the game yet, but I really liked the art style and, since other Disney games from that period aren't bad at all, I'd want to try it someday, however, according to SNESDrunk you're right about it being an ok-ish game and not a masterpiece like others 👍
Sweet puppet show. :) That was my first thought about the NES game, but those 16-bit cutscenes are sweet. 5:45 Might want to get your eyes checked since that is 3-4 grass colors on SNES and 2 colors on Genesis, you wouldn't be able to see blades of grass if it were one solid color ijs. 7:36 Yep that almost really happened. ;) It's funny that font matter comes up a lot that there must be some technical reason the Genesis tends to use generics like image space or cart size. Same with the presentation differences, you'd have talk to developers to know why since I think the Genesis could do those visuals. Well can't go wrong with either port and both are cheaper than the NES one which I see is holding some collector value.

OK, but a game with characters from different companies playing sports against each other and being able to use their abilities would honestly be pretty damn fun. Street Fighter cast vs. the characters from Castlevania in basketball would be something I'd like to play. As ever, a fun video with some great jokes. Always good to see more of this series.

Another great video . Here in Bosnia nobody is playin american football. But I played TECMO NBA on NES. And it was much better basketball game then any other on NES. Snes version is good also.
SNES version looks better, but the music is just LIGHTHEARS better on genesis. Since they’re so similar I feel that makes it better since you have to listen to it for hours on end.
@@orinanime snes games can have more varied music, with orchestral soundtracks the genesis can’t come close to replicating. But even the best snes games like DK country have inferior quality audio when compared to the clean genesis synth. Especially in this particular game.

Just off sound alone snes shits all over genesis with this game. Really in general. As a kid I had both systems, had like 30 games for snes and had like 4 games for genesis
And they were only because the were exclusive to Sega like sonic and Micheal Jackson's moonwalk. Anytime they were both available on both systems snes was always better. Look at games like nba jam and mortal kombat and its not even close
@@BadNewsfor154 Not really. Tecmo Super Bowl (NES) is a top 10 football video game of all time. Sega replicated the game and bumped it up to 16 bit and enhanced things, but it stayed true to form to what the game was (and didn't alter what the feel or play of the game in doing so) SNES tried to add more sound, HUD, fan and in-game features and in doing so altered what Tecmo Super Bowl was. Adding more things doesn't always make a game better in general, and SNES should have done what SEGA did- upgraded it to 16 bit with minor tweaks. SNES plays slower, and the gay nintendo colors on the scoreboard at half time are lame. SEGA plays faster and more true to form of what Tecmo Super Bowl on the NES was. I'd rather have cheerleaders on the sidline, a bikini babe on the half-time scoreboard, and cheerleaders for the half-time show. SNES has none of that and turned the game into a kiddy cartoon type football game. I had SNES and SEGA too. SNES sucked for sports games except for Ken Griffey Jr and F-Zero (if you consider racing a sport). SNES games were always PG- i.e. watered down violence, no "babes" or sexual content, and certainly VERY LITTLE gore or blood (except for MKII and maybe a couple other games) Sorry, but I'll take Tecmo Super Bowl on SEGA for staying true to what Tecmo Super Bowl is and for all the cheerleaders and babes. You can have your "better sound" and lame nintendo colors at half time.
@@BadNewsfor154 NBA Jam on SNES has no music. It plays slower and it's boring. NBA Jam sold more copies on SEGA than they did on SNES. Mortal Kombat- SEGA had the blood, gore and fatalities. SNES did not. Again, SEGA sold more copies of Mortal Kombat than SNES did. If you are a fan of RPG games then yes, SNES is your system. If you are fan of sports games, games that play more like the arcade, and games with the violence, gore, blood, sexual content- SEGA is your system.
I remember being blown away by the Genesis version because I was only familiar with the NES version before that. Unfortunately, between those two versions, they fixed a play in the Browns playbook that was basically an exploit. Mmm...running play that always gains yardage.
@@JasongCLJ Never played the SNES version, but I checked the NES version and it's the running play that goes up (right+A). I guess you'd call it a jet sweep. Gains yardage almost every time.

What I think would be interesting to see would be another late release game for the 16-bit era, and keeping in theme to this video I will recommend the last Madden game for the SNES/Genesis: Madden NFL '98.
Yeah, I'm gonna have to throw a flag on the field. You guys realize that the Sega Genesis version was made exactly like the original Nintendo version, right? Right down to the field graphics, HUD and general feel of the game, along with the presentation. There's a giant asterisk when it comes to whatever the Genesis version 'lacks'. Therefore... Intentional grounding, on the Super Nintendo version. It results on a loss of down on 4th down. Therefore, it is a turnover on downs. First down, Sega Genesis version!

That's a HORRIBLE comparison, as Final Fantasy VI is *_TIMELESS!_* It's one of the best RPGs of all time, right there with Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG. Say what you will about Phantasy Star IV, but SNES destroys all competition in the RPG department.
There are usually going to be differences in the graphics department. Both look good and it all depends on what you rather want to play in the end. Presentation seems to be the same as the graphics. The font isn't much to argue about. The sound department is good with both. Enough said. The gameplay is not much different from each other. Tie. The Lawnmower Man is next.

Good episode! Really liked the weather effects on SNES. It DOES add some level of immersion when you actually see the rain drops land on the field, instead of the rain just looking like and overlay. I remember playing some car game on PS1 as a kid, and the fact different levels had different weather effects blew my mind.

Finally managed to find some time for this episode and was no disappointed. While I've never been major into football Tecmo Bowl/Super Bowl was one of my favorite sports titles growing up. Once again you guys nailed it on every front.
i saved watching this until today, sunday afternoon, had lunch, it is cold, wearing my hoodie and enjoying some console wars, life is grand!

You guys sometimes do NES vs. Master System. Any chance we'll ever get a N64 game vs a Saturn game, or even a Game Cube game vs a Dreamcast game? The Saturn and 64 have few games in common, but you sometimes do similar games. Some of the Dreamcast's library got ported to the Game Cube, so a 1 to 1 is possible there.

Also, I've seen a video of SNESDrunk just today about a game that I didn't even know existed, Disney's Pinocchio, and he even stated that it was released for the SEGA Genesis too, so I thought about you guys and that maybe it could be an interesting idea for an episode, sometime far away in the future.

I also didn't know about Piniccho until last year, when a friend of mine who works with used stuff gave me that cartridge. It's really an ok-ish game, but after u finish it, u don't feel very compelled to play it again... Funny how some games just lack that "thing" that makes us want to play them again and again...

In reality, I don't own the cartridge now and I didn't played the game yet, but I really liked the art style and, since other Disney games from that period aren't bad at all, I'd want to try it someday, however, according to SNESDrunk you're right about it being an ok-ish game and not a masterpiece like others 👍

5:45 Might want to get your eyes checked since that is 3-4 grass colors on SNES and 2 colors on Genesis, you wouldn't be able to see blades of grass if it were one solid color ijs.
7:36 Yep that almost really happened. ;) It's funny that font matter comes up a lot that there must be some technical reason the Genesis tends to use generics like image space or cart size. Same with the presentation differences, you'd have talk to developers to know why since I think the Genesis could do those visuals.
Well can't go wrong with either port and both are cheaper than the NES one which I see is holding some collector value.

OK, but a game with characters from different companies playing sports against each other and being able to use their abilities would honestly be pretty damn fun. Street Fighter cast vs. the characters from Castlevania in basketball would be something I'd like to play.

Another great video . Here in Bosnia nobody is playin american football. But I played TECMO NBA on NES. And it was much better basketball game then any other on NES. Snes version is good also.
SNES version looks better, but the music is just LIGHTHEARS better on genesis. Since they’re so similar I feel that makes it better since you have to listen to it for hours on end.

@@orinanime snes games can have more varied music, with orchestral soundtracks the genesis can’t come close to replicating. But even the best snes games like DK country have inferior quality audio when compared to the clean genesis synth. Especially in this particular game.

Just off sound alone snes shits all over genesis with this game. Really in general. As a kid I had both systems, had like 30 games for snes and had like 4 games for genesis
And they were only because the were exclusive to Sega like sonic and Micheal Jackson's moonwalk. Anytime they were both available on both systems snes was always better. Look at games like nba jam and mortal kombat and its not even close
@@BadNewsfor154 Not really. Tecmo Super Bowl (NES) is a top 10 football video game of all time. Sega replicated the game and bumped it up to 16 bit and enhanced things, but it stayed true to form to what the game was (and didn't alter what the feel or play of the game in doing so)
SNES tried to add more sound, HUD, fan and in-game features and in doing so altered what Tecmo Super Bowl was. Adding more things doesn't always make a game better in general, and SNES should have done what SEGA did- upgraded it to 16 bit with minor tweaks.
SNES plays slower, and the gay nintendo colors on the scoreboard at half time are lame. SEGA plays faster and more true to form of what Tecmo Super Bowl on the NES was.
I'd rather have cheerleaders on the sidline, a bikini babe on the half-time scoreboard, and cheerleaders for the half-time show.
SNES has none of that and turned the game into a kiddy cartoon type football game.
I had SNES and SEGA too. SNES sucked for sports games except for Ken Griffey Jr and F-Zero (if you consider racing a sport).
SNES games were always PG- i.e. watered down violence, no "babes" or sexual content, and certainly VERY LITTLE gore or blood (except for MKII and maybe a couple other games)
Sorry, but I'll take Tecmo Super Bowl on SEGA for staying true to what Tecmo Super Bowl is and for all the cheerleaders and babes.

I remember being blown away by the Genesis version because I was only familiar with the NES version before that. Unfortunately, between those two versions, they fixed a play in the Browns playbook that was basically an exploit. Mmm...running play that always gains yardage.

@@JasongCLJ Never played the SNES version, but I checked the NES version and it's the running play that goes up (right+A). I guess you'd call it a jet sweep. Gains yardage almost every time.

From what I saw in the video, I actually preferred the music for the Genesis. I do think that Super Nintendo version looked nicer.

That's a HORRIBLE comparison, as Final Fantasy VI is *_TIMELESS!_* It's one of the best RPGs of all time, right there with Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG. Say what you will about Phantasy Star IV, but SNES destroys all competition in the RPG department.

There are usually going to be differences in the graphics department. Both look good and it all depends on what you rather want to play in the end.
Presentation seems to be the same as the graphics. The font isn't much to argue about.
The sound department is good with both. Enough said.
