    I have an XMC-2 running 5.2.4 and it sounds awesome. Thanks to the latest FW the bugs are virtually non existent. Heck I dont even know if I'll bother with the plus models I like this one so much and I don't care about 8K. One thing to note with both the XMC-2 and RMC processors is that they allow you the ability to send LFE to one sub(s) whilst using the other sub(s) for Bass management, a feature which is only available on much more expensive processors like Trinnov or Storm, this function is not available on any Marantz/Denon, Arcam or Anthem processor at any price level.

    I own an XMC-2 and started with the XMC-1, I noticed on your closeup you had the video set up for HD SDR , check your menu and make sure your HDMI is configured correctly , if that is a possibility why you may be experiencing video black outs. Also I think while you're enjoying what the unit can do out the box , a properly configured DIRAC audio install will absolutely show you definitive differences and will absolutely take it to another level .

  • @utbiglall
    @utbiglall 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    I have an RMC-1L and absolutely love it. Definitely experience the same quirks with video handshake issues.
    Some additional positives for the unit/emotiva:
    1. 2 speaker presets with 3 slots each. Each speaker preset allows for a completely different speaker configuration. You could have one preset for 2 channel and one for multichannel. I actually run preset 2 as a night mode that turns off 2 of my 3 subs and transducers
    2. Individual DACs per channel with full calibration control over each.
    3. Emotiva support is excellent with actual people available for any questions.
    4. The upgrade program is pretty awesome so your unit isnt completely obsolete.
    5. They have a sale going right now. Support the channel and use his affilate links to buy! If you dont care about expansion and do mostly movies, the XMC-2 is a killer price!

    I thought about getting one of these a few years back, but I ended up getting the Marantz AV8805 due to the Auro 3D and Imax Enhance support. I upmix many movies to Auro and DTS-X utilizing the center height, which is more immersive, in my opinion.

    • @avtechman77
      @avtechman77 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @pt265 I only upmix to either Auro or DTS-X. I spent a lot of money and effort installing all 13 speakers, so I like to utilize all of them. The front stage sounds more open with a front center height, and the top surround (VOG) is more realistic with the overhead sounds. Auro and DTS-X utilize both of those channels. I will test out Phantom of The Opera though

    I have an RMC-1.
    Love:
    Sounds great. Music will process into discrete audio channels magically (not sure how it knows), but one of the best listening experiences vs Yamaha.
    Movies sound great. Atmos works well, DTS delivery is well rendered.
    As a pre-out, you can dial in how system behaves, and customize it to behave how you want. Plenty of options.
    Great price per performance.
    Excellent number of channels for cost.
    Easy to upgrade firmware.
    I use EVERY output, and can use 3 outputs for bass management. (*L/R/ and Center Sub, how awesome is that?)
    XLR outputs, super quiet and reliable.
    Remote is very well thought out, it allows you to turn up surrounds together with one up/down, heights, and subs.
    My own calibration of levels and distance sound superb.
    Not love:
    Dirac sounds like muffled, mid range and destroys highs. The process is not intuitive, and the results just didn't work at all for me. I am technical minded, yet still think the fine tuning is too complicated. Not an issue since my own manual calibration sounds awesome.
    The HDMI handshake is slow. You can point it to a Chromecast and let it shake, then change to your PC input and it comes right up. Some inputs just do not work well for that initial boot.
    Front wides on this system. There are only a few movies they work with. (Dune 2022 and Godzilla Kong) The Emotiva engineers are working on upmixing it to work on this system, but that hasn't happened yet. If you are buying this to make your front wide channels work, just don't. Its not ready for prime time. I expect it to happen one day, and it will be in a firmware update. (fingers crossed)
    Remote is not backlit. Hard to determine if remote is upside down or right side up in dark.
    Final thoughts:
    For the price and quality of sound, this is a great investment.
    A comparable sounding receiver would cost MUCH more. (3-4 times) to do same things, but without bugs. Not sure that is worth it.

    The perfect analogy for Emotiva is a hot woman with an attitude problem. You know a hot chick, that will cook and clean from time to time, does all of the other things you like if you know what I mean, but tends to have a bad attitude from time to time.
