I was about to start pulling my linkage cables off.. I thought I’d have a little look on the Tube, and I came across this video... unbelievable it only bloody worked.. you are a hero!!!

@@remyd1984 - This "problem" will always re-occur! NOTICE that,the so called problem, is simply dirt and debris. Well combined with lack of lubrication!
So when it dry out and more dirt and debris accumulate it will amplify the "problem".
So keep it clean and lubed. For this last part use silicone grease or spray. It has the advantage of not "grabbing" dirt. Normal oils and grease are truly magnets for dirt/dust.
This happens in a bunch of vehicles to different degrees! For what it's worth, always keep the lower engine bay cover in place. It avoid a bunch of road "stuff", get into the engine bay. ;-)

5 minute Man, you're more like 5 minute miracle. I've sprayed W40 onto my Trafic gear box linkages and it only took 5mins for it to start sliding them gears like it should. Thank you for your video. Keep up the good work.

I took your advice and WD40ED the linkages on the gear box and the the connecter under the gear stick and I'M GETTING ALL GEARS SMOOTH AS OIL....EVEN REVERSE WORKS NOW...THX FOR THAT....TOOK 5 MINUTES.

This actually worked on my stiff gear changing. Sprayed wd40, changed to a different gear, sprayed again and In reverse, sprayed again.... 10 minutes later silky smooth gear changes.. thank you

@@TheCountryCottageGardener drop me a message if you struggle mate. I did it in the dark with torch on phone and an oversized can of wd40. I shoved it all down there, sprayed, left it 10 mins then tried wiggling. Popped it into various gears, sprayed some more. Touch wood it's been ok since ,that's about 4 to 8 weeks back. My vivaro sits still now all week and only gets used at weekends

Did mine yesterday with lithium grease. Worked a treat. Was thinking the gearbox had given up.
BTW This is valid for pretty much ANY vehicle with similar configuration. ;-)
In fact whenever any mechanical parts need to move together. Keep them clean and lubricated, it's a must. Be it a door hinge in your house, or a gearbox in your car/van!
TIP: Make sure to keep your engine bay lower cover tray, in good condition and keep it in PLACE!
Removal of the under tray is probably one of the most stupid things vehicle owners tend to do!
It simply protect a huge plethora of components, from mechanical to electronic!
When manufacturers that are counting every cent. Pay to add parts to a vehicle, It's rather stupid for the user to remove it. While completely clueless of what is doing! It's that simple!
Top tip for the lower engine cover. You only have to take it off and see what's exposed to understand the importance.

I was just gettting ready drop into mechanic and liek otherwise got new gearbox but i wen tout with wd40 and after 2 hours.,....BINGO !!! it worked. what a legend. Please ntoe theres another with these if gear stick stops working completely, theres another youtueb video on it.

Definitely doing this to my traffic later, its so hard getting into gear 😫 also having transmission fluid chamged and new filter to see it it helps my problmes with power loss
Power loss normally related to egr being clogged up so might be worth checking it out. Check intercooler pipes for cracks or splits as well, you would get a load of black snoke if they are split.
Was worried I'd a major problem with the gearbox, as I had the exact same problem. Came across this video & gave it a try & guess what, it actually worked. Thank you so much. Any quick fix for water dripping on to the injectors?
Thanks! You need to seal the plastic panel scuttle that's at the bottom of the windscreen.
It's metal plate under the plastic one you need to seal. Did mine this morning. Don't forget to unblock the drain pipes either side too.

the gearbox issues are a manufacturing fault, the bearings were over torqued in the factory. rebuilt boxes with the correct shims fitted last a long long time.
I notice that mine didn’t improve much after WD-40 and some grease. Problem seem to be coming from the shifter itself. So, gave that a good lube and seem it has improved.
Good idea to lube the shifter as well.
WD40 worked for me too to some extent (dont hurt to have a lil dish on the linkages under the stick incar).
But as it can be kinda lubricating its more a water and moist remover i heard and therefore maybe better
to use real grease as it lubricates that fat naturally and make water stuck like on a goose.
Wd is water dispersing fluid . It's for cleaning more than lubrication. Use wd and then after an hour use a lube oil like 3 in 1 spray. Wont evaporate then .

I have just changed driveshafts on Renault Master II and noticed the bearing holder bracket is off centre by 5mm putting stress on the gearbox shaft. Has anyone else noticed this?
try using silicon based/moly based spray grease, wont wash away then...
Renault Koleos have somebody the same problem? I need some tips,have most problem when is cold in 1 and 2 gear after warm is do hus job pretty nice. So what is the problem?😎

Reverse won't go in.
If I need reverse I turn ignition off put it in reverse dip clutch start engine then I hv reverse

That's weird as it's just the gear cable. Check you havent knocked any wires/plugs loose.
Cables are connected on the ball and sockets but the gear linkage ball and socket to the right ad u look down into engine bay looks worn. Looks a bit slack

Spraying petroleum based lube around plastic/rubber gear leakage ball joints is a remedy for premature worn out ball joints.
Not a bad idea spraying them, but better off applying silicon lube such as TRW brake grease

Michael B sorry I missed this comment, so I changed it at 141k. I wanted to make sure the correct spec was in as didn't have any history.im not sure the gearbox is the original either.

Im going into a new courier carrier & i'm looking at buying a 2012- 2015 Renault master. Seen a lot of positive videos on you tube but read quite a few negative comments from old customers. Main issues are gearbox failing, and other problems.
Whats your personal profession al advise please on those models.

Im just a diy mechanic so cant give a pro answer. I believe from everything i read that there are problems with gearboxes going, injectors (water leak from scuttle seizing them in) and a few cases of wiring loom problems. You have to put it in context though as there are tons of these vans on the road so the chances of problems are increased then people post on forums their issues. VW, Mercedes and the others all have their problems. I bought my 2006 with 130k on it and now its at 150k ish. Ive serviced it and tidied up. Nothing gone wrong in the 2 years i had it. I would advise getting one closer to 2015 thats just come out of lease to BT, BG or the like that has been looked after.

@@sam.s1420 i understand Toyota Hiaces are popular in Australia, but from what i understand they need modernising and are a bit rough? I sent to see one here in the UK and it was a newer shape one. Opened the bonnet and surprised to see the radiator fan permanently running via a fan belt. It rattled a bit as well. Hyundai vans look interesting but not many in the UK. Mostly Trafic, Vivaro, Masters, Merc Sprinters, Fiat Ducato and VW T5/6's.
@@fiveminuteman yeah Toyota hiace are killing it here, people buy 2 even, lol. But its 1 tonne van with limited income as a delivery courier. I need 2 tonner. Im sorter leaning towards VW crafter LWB, twin turbo 👌🏽. Still quite impressed with the R/master.

No problems since i lubed it.
overfilling these gearboxes is not good, some parts of gearbox are lubricated by splashing the oil up from other gears, if there is too much oil in box this cant happen effectivly and some parts are starved of oil causing premature failure
From what I've read people who have over filled get more mileage out of the PK6 gearbox due to gear being lubricated properly. Time will tell.

Turn your volume up or pump up the jam
