Bad Ass...after coming across your video makes me wanna start working on my 59 vert that's been sitting for over 25 years. I'll definitely keep watching for educational purposes, Great work...keep them coming.
You guys do some amazing work, would be honored for you guys to work on my rig wish you weren't so far away from us would bee by there,,awesome keep it up!
Awesome video, more detailed than any other video I've seen. I now know why my 60 rides off kilter. I don't know who did the work but I know how to make it right now. Thanks
G'day, Kevin here from Australia. Great series guys you've shown what can happen if these parts are just slapped on without a second thought. The final stance of the car looks awesome the front beam is a work of art one day I'll have one in my 63 bug. Anyhoo thanks for sharing stay safe. ✌ peace
We can help. Spending some time squaring up the car, the stance being even, caster, camber and alignment will go along way. That is....if everything else is done correctly.
Pete I think this was your best video. You got into great detail and let the camera run as you went through each step. I really liked the final results of stance. Was wondering if you could share the final degree on swing plates and the front end height. Congrats
5 degrees unloaded, ended up perfect for this car, with the caveat that the vehicle was equally the same unloaded as it was loaded, which can’t be assumed.
great video, I am doing a new rear suspension on my 66 Ghia Girl ! It sits on the ground, the lower the better. My question to you is....have you ever bitten your tong too hard lol Your the Best!
I think one of your front beams for my Squareback would be amazing. Would ideally convert my swing-arms to IRS as well, if it would make for more sporty handling...
Love all the How To vids! Can’t wait for my new beam. (Order 269) We spoke about having to massage the metal when installing a beam on VW’s that have wrinkles. When you come across it can you film a How To?
Thanks. Best vid on the topic. I am reindexing my (1963) rear 1 inch and need to remove my torsion bar as well. Should I need a puller for that? They do not want to come out and I don't want to get crazy with it. It looks like yours was ready to fall out.
@@AirkewldVWs Thanks but I was wondering about removing the torsion bars, not the spring plates. Mine are tight. Should I need to use a puller on them? I have removed the spring plates before.
Looks great, I like the stance, but at 6'4" I'd have a hard time getting in & out. I can't believe the hack job the other people did, it was downright dangerous !!
I like that stance it would look great on my 66 sea blue beetle. how much for everything front and rear (parts) to get mine to that look? great video keep it up!
They are polished stainless. I don't want to bang on the fasteners just to mess up the finish. Plus a drill or impact doesn't tighten them to the same torque and over time lessens the torque value. Doing it by hand ensure you get the right feel.
He bought this www.airkewld.com/Stage-1-PRObuilt-Adjustable-Beam-Complete-2200-p/2200.htm and some front brakes and we did the install for free for TH-cam installation, part of of this program - www.airkewld.com/PROduct-Install-Submissions-s/2476.htm
I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a while always enjoy the content. Have you ever done a air ride vs static drop video? Currently on my 69 I’m running your weld in adjusters and rear lowered two inches. Thanks
@@Mr69volks Thanks Bill. We have created a group for viewer to collaborate with videos they would like to see, what they like, what they don't, helping us create a lane that appeals to most viewers and still allows us to enjoy what we do. You can check it out here - airkewld.co/JOINVictorWhiskey
Lowering VW's like this is a BAD, BAD idea. The safety concerns should be obvious. Also never mentioned are the mechanical issues. Placing the crankcase lower to the ground places it into much closer proximity to the road surface which like all aggregates is a thermal mass with a high heat gain. This causes the oil to be pre-heated and the engine to run hot. Air circulation (the only cooling a VW has) is further impeded. A litany of mechanical issues and premature failures can be expected. The German engineers who designed the car were the BEST in the world. The car was field tested probably more than any other car in history, using the full resources of the state. If the car ran better lowered than stock, they would have built it this way...they didn't ! Draw your own conclusion.
Thanks for commenting Steve. This Beetle was lowered for aesthetics with the emphasis on ride quality at that height. Your statements, IMHO, are reaching, if I can be honest. If we are talking about a vehicle that we are driving everyday in traffic, heat gain is a fact. But no one cares because it isn't their daily. But just like cause and effect, there is always a cause to every effect. So everything you mentioned can be cured rather easily, but this isn't the place nor the time. You give these German engineers a little too much credit. They left so many areas of improvement, they were smart enough to make a car that was embraced by millions but lets be realistic, it isn't a 2024 Porsche....and yes I know who invented the cars. Back in the day, 60mph was ludicrous. Please compare apples to oranges. Customizing wasn't even a real thing in the 50/s, 60's and early 70's but it was bound to happen and it did. I appreciate you commenting again Steve, we all have opinions and if we can have an honest debate about things, I am all for it. Have a great weekend!

That is the perfect stance, that is what I want on my 66
That ended up really nice. I like the ride height. Not too low, and certainly not too high.

Great work. Y'alls work is always top notch.
Love the attention to detail.
Amazing transformation ! I like the step by step instructional process 👍👍
Good final stance. Gets the point across without leaving anymore metal on the road
Good stuff!

Stellar stance! I’m definitely enjoying learning from your “best practices” and tip comments. Thanks for doing how to do things properly and safely!
Love your attention to detail! I would love to work in your shop!
Great stance and great work as always Pete.
Just came across your channel and all the info so far has been making things easier for me to understand suspension ! Thanks dude!
Love the stainless hardware you use.
Awesome detail of how you dial in ride height. Thanks
hope you guys get into bay window busses, i am hoping to air ride mine!
Ilove your videos very nice work with explaining the tasks thants been done love your front ends 😊
Great to see all the safety issues are corrected and I know the ride quality is much better. Looks fantastic!
Along for the ride...👍🏴
Awesome work!
Cool vids great info. Helpful no joke you do great work
Amazing job!
Looking forward to getting my 65 dialed in and with that narrow front beam
Thanks for showing me how to raise my beetle
Good vid
Looks good. I need to get my front end looked at. I like the stance that I have but it wonders, just want the steering tight.

Great tutorial.

Awesome, just catching it now who won the beam at 10K? Whoever it was they really hit the jackpot!!!

Yep.

Looks good the only thing why don't you use a drill tighten bolts

Do you have a vid of the "poor man's" alignment? It's not far from where I'm at with my car.

👍
Nice!
What size beam did you use on the vert?
4" narrowed, with drop spindles and disc brakes along with 65 and earlier wheels.
My torsion bars must b crap ,at 9 degrees its slammed when loaded
🔥🔥🔥
Why not use notched spring plates?
Because they have side effects that no one talks about.

The lower the better
Pimp my ride!!!
You guys are Airkewld where's your air tools heheheh
Hey James, are you new with air tools and stainless fasteners?
no such thing as to low , execept when you are grinding and I wouldnt call that a modded spring plate .... thats a hack
If we are talking about buns gettin low, I’m all for it. But it needs to ride nice or we’re just making cool models.
