  • Teresa Amabile is the Edsel Bryant Ford Professor of Business Administration and a Director of Research at Harvard Business School. Originally educated as a chemist, Teresa received her doctorate in psychology from Stanford University. She studies how everyday life inside organizations can influence people and their performance. Teresa’s research encompasses creativity, productivity, innovation, and inner work life - the confluence of emotions, perceptions, and motivation that people experience as they react to events at work.
Teresa has presented her research in many venues, including TEDx Atlanta. Visit the speaking page to watch the TEDx video. In 2011, Teresa was ranked 18 on the Thinkers 50, the definitive listing of the world’s top business thinkers.

Teresa's work was referenced in an article I was reading for post grad study. Being able to hear her explain her ideas in person was delightful. It's lovely to read the publications of scholars like this and then be able to get a real sense of the person. Thank you very much!

As a musician! I love the way Teresa Amabile describes intrinsic Motivation in creativity and periods of Dryness which has happened to me as well with Composition! Also reminds me of Robert Schumann who composed so much and also had dry periods of creativity! Hope i continue with my intrinsic motivation and create out of enjoyment more music in the future! 👍 🎸 🎹 🥁 🎤

The irony of theorizing creativity. Plus the pursuit of motivation is a scam.
