- Butt Joints happen - the amount of butt joints and where you place them is very important. More butt joints means more work and increases the possibility of joints cracking. Minimizing your butt joints, V grooving the board, staggering and hanging smartly decrease the possibilities of problems.

Great explanation! Really appreciate the time you take to explain things. I've learned a lot from watching your vids! You're one of my favs on YT! Thank you!
That's so great to hear! Thank you!!
Another great video Shorty. Nicely done! I always manage to learn something new or find out what I'm doing wrong. Andy ~
Interesting thing about Goldbond gypsum.. is a sheet is slightly shorter by about an 1/8".
Very nicely explained! I did my project myself and I had a few butt joints I hope they hold up… YIKES 😅
thank you! And I'm sure they will hold up great!
Great video and will be using your channel to learn more thank you!
Can you please provide a video/advice on how to create the “V”?
Sure! You can "v" them before hanging. Just take your razor blade and run up the factory edge at a slight angle. Removes any of the loose paper and creates a bit of a beveled edge.
Thanks so much for replying Lydia - many bigger channels don’t bother - will be trying this out shortly!
My drywall skills are limited and can now see it’s made a LOT more work for me at this stage!
Thanks for all the great videos! What's your thought of hanging drywall vertically to eliminate butt joints?
I'm doing a small celing so using 2 tapered edge boards , give better finish
I don't like mesh tape either. The threads pul out of cured mud to easily.
However.. what about Fibafuse?
How much do you charge a foot for a regular 8ft house. I want knockdown ceilings.
Just curious if you want to leave space for expansion and contraction than when you pre-fill with hot mud.... Aren't you theoretically connecting the two pieces anyway with the pre-fill?..... Doesn't make any sense.... Anyone else has any thoughts on this?
Can you recommend a good book in drywall?
Usg has a handbook - highly recommend getting it!
@@DrywallShorty Thank you!
Butt Board haha such a funny name
Lydia, you were supposed to say, they can be a real pain in the butt at the end!
😂😂 I missed a golden opportunity there
