- Taking the new Lumix S5 and mixing the beauty of the Pacific Northwest with some talented skateboarding! For this film I really wanted to create silhouettes of skateboarding in front of beautiful landscapes, utilizing the high frame rate modes to slow things down and really emphasize the skate tricks was great! The Lumix S5's in-body image stabilization made my “run and gun” style of filmmaking that much better!

Turned out fantastic! As a self proclaimed "Canon Snob", Panasonic has really up'd their game. The S5's colors look great, the autofocus is much improved, and the dynamic range is stunning. Awesome short! Well done.

@@NigelBarros I wouldn't judge you if you did get rid of it. With what you've shown that you can pull out of a 2012 MFT camera, you've proved that you're skills are no longer holding the GH3 back, it's holding you back.
I’ve never desired a lumix camera 🎥 just because I’ve always shot canon and Nikon and for video sony crossed my mind, but honestly the videos with the S5! Wow 😳 it’s like candy 🍭 to my eye 👁 insane honestly!! Is it your favourite camera of all time? Much love from Vancouver Canada 🇨🇦

one more thing to add. Fun how the staple of fish eye lenses is a staple of the traditional way of skating video, but the story you captured here just made me realize how amazing the flow of skating will resonate under a cinematic POV.

I currently focus on documentary films (on a very lean starting budget; all out of pocket) and my initial canera is the old Panasonic UX-180.... . I am looking at the S5 because the color science is similar, but it can push me closer towards the future..... from 8 bit and beyond. Plus it is a package that I can take on the motorcycle as well as hike with and has the weather resistance that the UX-180 does not have..... for out of the box, I can match the UX-180 with Cin-D mode, or switch to V-Log between primary and B camera..... that is my thinking anyway.

I really like Panasonic cameras, the reason I don't currently own one is their 2005 autofocus. I wish they would join the 2020's AF tech and I'd be a customer again.

Where was it shot exactly? I travelled last year to all along the Pacific West Coast and some shots reminded me the place between Oregon and Washington along the Columbia River.

I have been on the fence about the S5 because of the Autofocus that everyone on TH-cam seems to hate. I only need it because I film videos (talking head) by myself amd I'm wondering if it's reliable for that?
It seems to be pretty good at keeping you in focus if you stay pretty still. However it's not good at fast tracking like walking or running towards a camera

Amazing work as usual dude! The S5 is a filmmaking beast packed for a budget price, I'm really enjoying it as a first full-frame mirrorless (spoilt).

No definitely not, I LOVE the S5 but the Gh3 will be my workhorse on TH-cam for the foreseeable future
