    Thank you for the video. I'm trying to get into archery and dont have anybody to tell me stuff like this. I didnt even know what point inserts were a few weeks ago

    Use the Bohning low temperature "blue" hot melt. Clean everything with 91% or better alcohol. When you want to remove a target point or insert just gently heat the tip of the point ONLY until the hot melt releases its grip. I let the shaft cool and remove the left over hot melt out of the shaft with a .25 caliber copper barrel cleaning brush. Been doing this for at least 4 years and honestly have only lost one insert and one target point.

    Can you tell me the exact items used to clean & glue arrow, is any gortilla glue with a blue top good? They have a couple of different blue cap gorilla glue’s

      I cleaned with Methylated Spirits, and I used the Blue Top SuperGlue as it is more liquid than the green top gel. As far as I know, all the blue top super glues are the same.

    woah , why use gorilla glue instead of a hot melt ? wont u have trouble taking it out later ?

      I've not had any issues, in fact the arrows probably end up more battered than the inserts and I've never had to replace an insert, only glue one or two back in as the glue has finally let go.

    What is the brand of the rubber point?

    • @stefanpynappels7959
      @stefanpynappels7959  ปีที่แล้ว

      They are either Saunders or Bearpaw screw in blunt or bludgeon points from Merlin Archery in the UK.

    If the shaft needs shortened how do you remove insert?

    • @AlexPettit7
      @AlexPettit7 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't. Cut before you insert.

      Use actual insert glue and u put a tip in and heat the tip up if u use super glue it fine on target arrow u don’t reuse insert honestly there super cheap if u watch other channels they use heat melt he is shooting a low poundage bow if his arrow is a 500 spine

    Hello. Are you using a white spirit equivalent to clean?

    • @stefanpynappels528
      @stefanpynappels528 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used methylated spirits, a similar alcohol based cleaner to white spirits.

      How did the blue gorilla glue work out for you?

    • @buster5643
      @buster5643 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SpearsUnclaimed I'm assuming it worked perfectly fine
      I use the same glue when installing tips on my pool cue. And I can assure you I've hit a lot more balls than I've hit targets haha. But I've never had a pool tip come off.

      @@SpearsUnclaimed sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but it's worked well, it does eventually let go but it's taken a great deal of punishment before that point.

    Would gorilla glue also work for aluminum arrows?

    • @stefanpynappels7959
      @stefanpynappels7959  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Possibly, but you'd need to make sure the shafts are cleaned really well first, and perhaps roughed up a little on the inside first.
