    What an absolutely ridiculous situation. Canon are destroying their reputation. This camera was the one that was going to reaffirm the Brands position as a leader in this sector, instead it has created a viral shit show.

    I still remember you as the Sony overheating guy. Compare that to this. It’s Ironic actually

  • @wizard9858
    @wizard9858 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    There are too many steps to perform to be able get rid of the overheating icon for an US$4000 camera to film videos in high quality modes and you'll probably damage your device over time.

    I'll wait for my upcoming a7s III instead.

  • @marcandamalia

    bypassing the limit with a hack, wouldn’t you damage or burn the sensor in the long run?

    • @lingham2099
      @lingham2099 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You think? Don’t you think Canon wrote the software just to piss people off.

  • @h00b00
    @h00b00 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    As far hacks go, this is actually very feasible and results are well worth the hassle. Now if it can also work on the R6 (which lacks the magnesium body) and Canon doesn't go out of their way to block it then A7S III might have a serious contender. The superior IBIS, RF-EF ND Adapter, cheaper/wider range of lenses and full gimbal control are the main reasons why Canon still has a place on my wishlist.

    • @mohdvideos1
      @mohdvideos1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well said but for full gimbal control would u explain? Like what features you can’t do with sony on gimbal

    • @h00b00
      @h00b00 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mohdvideos1 i meant controlling focus directly from the gimbal wheel (if it has one). For Sony, 90% of the time you rely on the amazing auto focus, but for that one shot where you need to rack focus manually, there is no quick and easy option. the gimbal wheel method is not very responsive and unless you have one of the few G-masters with linear focus throw, even an external motor won't work properly. Canon and its lineup of autofocussing EF lenses with hard stops really have an advantage (downside being the bulk).

    I read that you don't need to have the battery door sensor locked down. So you can keep the battery door on like normal. Can you confirm if this works? Also read this trick works with the R6.

  • @dpenn555

    Very interesting firmware 1.1 seems to have great potential, but maybe canon will patch these hacks soon, that's probably why there has not been an update or release of firmware 1.1 for the R6, if i had an R5 I would defo download and update to firmware 1.1 now and the lucky people who have the R6 with firmware 1.1 wait to see what happens with they update the firmware of the R6.
    Firmware 1.1 may be a thing of the past soon and cameras with it become more valuable

    • @robertm3951
      @robertm3951 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a recording limit for 4K 120 FPS of 7:30 minutes continuously. We ca record again and again unless it overheats.

  • @RockyColaFizz
    @RockyColaFizz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I did this today and ran 8k 30p. It would let me record about 22 minutes each time continuous. I would then take about 30 whole seconds to do this hack, and get another 22 minutes each time. Did this 4 times. Could go all day. Camera never felt any hotter than the 1st time I hit 22 minutes originally. Took picture to see exif data on temperature at the end of the 4th time and it was 61c.

    • @robertm3951
      @robertm3951 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is best to keep it from overheating in the first place, but this is a good trick if you can't. All it takes to prevent overheating is a small fan at room temperature. It also does not overheat on a cool day.

    • @RockyColaFizz
      @RockyColaFizz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s a little Hack. Not a big deal. But it will let you shoot 8k raw or the best 4K you have ever seen almost forever this way. No other camera comes even close to doing anything like this. Even Cinema cameras shooting 6k need internal fans or external fans on them to do this.

    • @canalcidadaodomundo
      @canalcidadaodomundo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Now imagine a real production, or even a simple corporate shoot. "Ok client, gimme 2 minutes for me to hack this thing back to shoot that gorgeous 8k that you don't need"
      It's understandable that it's the only camera that offers that, but all that jazz is simply being completely unreasonable with users of the camera to rely on such things to use it properly.

    • @RockyColaFizz
      @RockyColaFizz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Cidadão do Mundo man. I disagree. The 8k allows incredible punch in and flexibility unlike anything you have ever seen. The 4K HQ at room temp gives you close to 40 minutes continuous. Frankly this thing now is perfectly solid in a real “professional” shoot. And god forbid you needed 30 seconds to do this little hack if you needed to. I am sure no one ever takes any breaks ever for even a minute in a long shoot. I mean come on man. Really?

    • @canalcidadaodomundo
      @canalcidadaodomundo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RockyColaFizz I agree there's a lot of good things when it comes to an 8k footage, but we're not prepared for that just yet imo. It's heavy to be processed, it will make editing much more wasteful if we need to punch in all the time, we will need lots of storage and new hardware to deal with that. For at least 4 years to come, great 4k is the way to go and then tech will follow the 8k like It went for 4k eventually.

    These hacks prove that this is a software limitation imposed by Canon, not necessarily a hardware limitation. And if that's the case, Canon could easily update the firmware but are choosing not to. I think that's pretty telling.
