Cam, I'm a bit confused, is the focus grip just the handle part of the RS4 Pro with the gimbal bits removed or is it a separate thing?
how about Cine zoom lenses ? does the lidar system work cause you had to set in the focal length .
Hey Cam! Very thorough and practical-use review as always. I’ve been trying to find clarity on DJI’s use of USB-C connectors. It sounds like they’ve used USB-C connectors, but have not wired them like standard USB-C, meaning 3rd party cables do not work. I will be at NAB and will do my best to get a straight answer out of them tomorrow, but that design practice is very concerning, not only because it forces purchase of their own cables, but also because in the event of a cable failure, the only option is to have spare DJI cables on hand.
Of course, every other motorized focus system uses LEMO connectors, but whatever. The capabilities on display here are undeniable, but DJI yet again fails to carefully consider all aspects of their designs, as is expected for professional on-set equipment.

Hey there...CAN'T understand something...from 7:00 you show your gimbal with an expasion tethering handle and not the new focus handle...is the new Lidar compatible with the expansion kit handle?
How heavy was that rig with the monitors? You think you can do long 10 hrs with them (with obv. breaks)?
What stabilization arm setup is mounted on the Bronco?
Do you know if the Handgrip can be used with the older DJI Lidar?

I had the 4D and loved it but it had too many constraints. They have removed most of the constraints! Still doesn’t seem like a good way to rig the DJI monitor on a gimbal though. Maybe if you used a ring and put it towards the top of the ring.
It would be Sick to see this whole setup to the RS3 pro and compare how much more intuitive the RS4 with FIZ wheel compare to the prev system

Where did you get DJI Transmission HUB? Do you know the model or part number?
if they want solo opperators to use this, they need to enable the phone app to let us tap focus subjects while on the gimbal, using that tiny 1.8 inch screen for focusing is nuts, And the high bright monitor is way too big for gimbal use. We need a monitor with touch functionality at about 4-5 inch in size or even the Osmo 3 flip screen would be a massive help.
Then you could run a dual handle setup where on the right side you have the tethered control handle for gimbal control, and on the left side you could have the new focus grip for focus control, and attach a touch screen monitor on the right side of the focus grip, enabling you to use your left thumb to select focus subjects.
Right now Im using my phone to tap focus with the Sony FX3 using their app, its the best way to control everything when you only have 2 hands.

Transmission is just for wireless monitoring! Right now I’m at NAB and I’m running the Focus Hand Unit with the iPhone connected to my camera through wifi haha
With the transmission to show your LiDAR map you can manual focus and auto focus but NOT AMF auto manual focus. But with just monitoring, you can do MF AF and AMF with handset

I've had 2 sets delivered. The first one I ordered way back when they first came out, the second off the back of receiving the first set. Both came through in around 4 weeks, delivery to Switzerland.

This is great because reinforces my decision to not get this gimbal. This is a 23 minute video about that rs4 pro that never really talks about the actual the gimbal upgrade, just about the accessories.
Well, lots of stuff here is not factually correct. Like on 14:20 mark you're stating that you can't control a gimbal using a handheld rig, but actually it was already there with Freefly Mimic (introduced somewhere eeeeh, in 2015-17?), I've actually shot some music videos using mimic this way pre-2020. Also, often we've used mimic like when the Movi XL is on a technocrane and you just mount the mimic to a tripod head and the remote head control suddenly becomes much more intuitive. It's useless inside a car because of suspension and road bumps actually appearing in the footage when used in mimic mode. DJI actually introduced (or copied?) this mode with the release of R2, and added this thing to smartphone controls with RS2.
Otherwise, the Focus Pro is definitely a thing to watch for. I'm really curious on what's the Tilta Nucleus M2 release will look like with this system already being on the market. Definitely shook things up a lot
Speaking of 19:00 mark - being in one "dji ecosystem" actually is like backstabbing yourself. All ecosystem stuff is indeed a waste investment-wise. Over the years it has proven that any ecosystem product will actually lose support and in a lot of cases will have much shorter lifespan than a universal product. It was so with RED (remember redmags? can anyone buy a new one or a new card reader maybe?), it was so with Teradek (MDR - useless investment, any regular TX/RX outlived this thing), it was so with DJI (Ronin 1 + batteries issue and inability to use different ones, despite there's nothing special inside, just a limitation to make everyone buy exclusively DJI ones and earn more on batteries). Actually, being an "ecosystem product" actually is a good marker that this product will last 3-5 years at best, then DJI (or put any other "ecosystem" brand name here) will force you into buying a new one with EOL'ing the batteries for the grip or some kind of other stuff.
Ecosystem is a minus, not a plus.
