I'd say that the very first thing you should do before putting more power into your car is safety. Brakes, suspension, stabilizers, bars. Keeping your car under control is way more important than increasing it's power.
I keep seeing kit for power. They always put the intercooler, last on the list. Solely for a bigger turbo. This is a hot running engine as it is. Personally, I would like to upgrade my cooling system just to increase reliability. Maybe save some hoses and lines. ... Better cooling should be first and foremost.
On my way to mods for my 08' E93 335i! So far I've done all this maintenance... Alternator, injectors, eldor coils, ngk 2 step spark plugs, service drop top seals x2 per year, oil change, serpentine belt/pulleys, transmission service with new mechatronic seals, coolant service, akebono brake pads/zimmerman rotors all around, metal mickey mouse coolant flange, front windshield molding, air filters, brake fluid flush, & differential service! Just chilling now until the next thing breaks 😁
Caught a flashback to when I did the stage 2 mhd flash….and immediately blew the silicone outlet from mmp….immediately. Maintenance is the way to go for sure…and quality parts
That’s wild- didn’t know you were running shoup’s tunes on your rigs not that he was a big name in the community - that’s who tuned my current n54 and it’s been nothing but incredible
The original rad and intercooler look so cute compared to CSF/VRSF ones. I can absolutely confirm a Stage 1 VHD tune makes a lot of difference, l do have a DCI and VRSF charge pipe. Sooooo far so good, done some stuff: new sparks, filers (oil, air etc), new belts and pullies. Coils seem fine atm and all seals are good, oil filter housing is just starting to go so that's being done in the next 3 months or earlier if it starts to become a real gusher lol New steering rack and Xenon bulb upgrade being done tomorrow looking forward to how tight she's going to feel :D Christian I think you should also mention using GOOD oil in your car and also changing it every 5,000 miles not what BMW recommend which is a ludicrous 12,000 miles!! Remember one phrase!!! - Oil is cheap, engines are not... I've recently done another oil change on my car, the last one was done Nov 2020 and the stuff that came out wasnt very nice, so decided to do another change with Castrol EDGE M oil and the car just purrs its amazing how quite it is for what's under the hood/bonnet.
Don't seem like bigger vac line necessary, using forge bv kit. Zero back fluttering on turbine wheels. DTC AZA red leather black suede tri stitches, top m stripes. Dinan S2 can ECU tune
I'd not do any mods to m47 other than just a retuning. Better get 330d because M57 is the one engine you want if you want to upgrade turbos, intercooler etc.
Very helpful video. I love the maintenance recommendations. Researching Bmw ownership lead me to this video. Thanks a bunch. I’m less concerned about buying a used one now.
This video gave me anxiety. I want to do all of this and more to my E60...BUT!!!! I really don't want to remove my Catts, or sound crazy-mad aggressive. I've been there, and much like being Static to the point of feeling every Gum Wrapper in the road, that being heard for miles skunch got old for a Sista after a while. I need the exact combination of Bolt On Performance that's right for me. Good Stuff, tho!
Keep it stock suspension. Otherwise, as you said, one begins to compromise. My 335 has stock exhaust because I like my intake noise and i don't want an obnoxious exhaust. Get another vehicle to do those things to instead of your daily.
These 335i’s will need motor mounts around 80,000-100,000 miles. You can do them yourself. Buy or make the upgraded mounts. Yes I said make. Buy OEM mounts then fill every gap and hole in the mount with polyurethane from a caulking gun. If you build this N54 you will need mounts. When not if.
And that is the reason why people think bmw’s aren’t reliable, because they forget a car needs maintenance! and yes the parts are more expensive but last longer!
Depends. BMW is bad at designing gaskets. The ofhg on the N54 needs to changed almost every 3 oil changes because it will start seeping. Same with valve covers. I also don't think the control arms last as long as Chevy or Toyota vehicles for example. High pressure fuel pumps die after 50k miles at best etc etc.
I put 136,000 miles on my E92 335i and it only needed a water pump and OFHG. The valve cover was just starting to seep when I traded it in. Sadly I needed a more efficient practical car so I traded it in for a base VW Golf.

What’s up man I’m kinda new to this whole car thing but hear me out…I have a 2007 bmw 335i and I want to get a new exhaust system should I take my car to the shop before buying a system…what should my first step be
Hi, I'm looking for the OEM or aftermarket headlight with AFS function with control modules for 2009 E93 335, can you provide the link where I can purchase, thank you.
@Christian... I'm currently looking at upgrading my FMIC from a 7" ARM, to one that can integrate easily with the new TURBO either PS2 or Shuenk N55+ (E90 N55). Is the VRSF FMIC still your go to or is there another manufacturer that you would recommend. If you can be vendor neutral that is.. 😂👊🏽 My goals are 500-600; assume that I've done some of the required internals and upgrades.
I'll always be honest regardless! I've rocked only VRSF ones with my BMWs and even before I sold their products and paid with my own money. Never had a bad experience. That said the CSF was is also a great choice and doesn't require different couplers nor do you have to cut anything. Both very adequate for your power goals. So look at it like this. The CSF is easier to install and weighs less (also slightly more expensive) and the VRSF one looks beefy and has more surface area.
Any recommendations to gain significant amount of power for an F10 535i MSport? Currently running a Stage 2 tune along with evolution racewerks chargepipe + downpipe, 2 step colder NGK spark plugs and vrsf Intercooler and radiator In need of more power lol
Hey, so I have a 2010 335i xdrive, I did an Injen short RAM intake, VRSF aluminum charge pipe and MHD stage 1 tune. Looking to do new spark plugs and coil packs soon. I'm a little paranoid with the tune, you think I'm good?? Providing I don't rip on it too much before getting the maintenance done?
If you can get some goood front diff you be fine. Thats the weak point. (I dont see many option for front diff) The transfer case can hold 600-700 hp but if you gonna pull hard thats also can blow. I would say to get a rwd if you want push that many hp.
If I do not plan to upgrade my the power of my M2 Competition, do you still recommend changing the cooling parts? And should I wait for the stock part to wear a little first?
Even if you're not increasing performance, I always recommend upgraded cooling components simply due to the build quality. You'll also get more consistent power if you were to ever take it to the track or beat on the car in whatever way. -Cristian
I would recommend it for a piece of mind reliability wise. Also tends to keep the engine temperature down, especially when you're really pushing the car.

Spot on information. That's my motto as hard as it is as tough as it is some days I always have to tell myself maintenance then performance.
