It’s called a destroker kit. The reason why he blew his engine is because the engine is over square, meaning it produces a lot of torque without being able to rev high. So at 700whp he’s making like 680lbft of torque which is wayyy to high for the stock engine internals to handle. To have a high revving engine you need to lower the stroke. Then it’ll be able to rev high meaning it can create more horsepower with lower combustion pressures.

I’m literally going through the same thing hopefully my new engine isn’t bad internally😭😭😭 lots of smoke just did Valve cover nd gasket, pcv valve, injectors, spark plugs, went from e40 tune to 91, swapped fuel pumps ,etc. I’ll find out next week
Ouch. Bent rods are no joke. You built the head and did it right (with the exception of the RTV, but who's counting) and now, you have the reason to build the lower portion of the motor. Yay. Glad you figured it out.
Proper built motor is also around 10k. Respect for keeping it stock and showing guys like us that it's possible, even though you had to work out a few bananas. My stock block single car spun a rod bearing, feeling pretty down like you. Thanks for motivation!
You know this video brought up some things that as far as I have seen have never been talked about or considered. My buddy's N54 was completely rebuilt just a month ago but for some reason when he hits boost at all (17t twins) he loses half a pint of oil. Plus the smoking. As well after driving for two weeks the spark plugs are so caked with carbon and oil they are like a black iced cream cone!!
If the plugs are black , it could be ring wash. Scope the spark plug hole, see if only the edge of the piston is clean from soot. (Bad news ring wash). If your turbos are loosing oil, it will be in the intercooler or charge pipes. (The other big offenders) Last thing could be your pcv /breather system/catch can is all correct. (The first things I would be looking at if those were my symptoms) smoking could be any of the above , or even the turbine side of the turbo if the oil is only in the down pipes. Also search " direct injection pre ignition damage" and watch the video by Dave's auto.
Very similar to my N54 failure. Mine was on twins at 29psi. Not sure what power it was making, but it would have been 650’ish, give or take. No crank hub spin, just 4 cracks in the ringlands on piston 5, and 6 bent rods. Car was still boosting and making power, just running rough and smoking due to the blow by. Built engine otw…

A crank hub capture is unlikely to have saved this engine - it only helps if the crank bolt worked it’s way loose.
