This fight….is everything I hoped it would be. It injected SO much hype and the details are better than ever. This was just fantastic. So let’s start with Lady Nagant’s backstory. Public safety commission hero can mean a lot of things. But they roughly are best defined as “government spy” or “government assassin.” And the wear of targeting those that caused any dissent against the government. It is just SUCH a fantastic portrayal of watching all the money and resources she has, skill with her job and more all fall away because this isn’t what she wanted. She’s called a “hero” so people admire her but the depths show it’s ALL hallow. This is not far at all from Stain’s will. “Heroes fueled by vanity and money can’t possibly be true heroes.” The hero system IS corrupt. There’s no avoiding it anymore. It is just so amazingly portrayed. She’s so worn out that even though they have “light” in their eyes, (with Deku’s getting weaker and weaker every episode.) she just views the position as a whole rotten. And her exhaustion with the system leads her to make a deal with the devil. And it’s when people are at their lowest that people make the deal. This fight was just spectacular. The atmosphere, the combating quirks, how they more or less danced around each other, and SO much more. I geek out SO hard seeing this fight fulfilling everything I prayed for in this arc. The animation was STELLAR. Now that I’ve gotten some gushing out of the way, I want to talk OFA. Surprise. The time has come to talk about the newest quirk Fa Jin. Storing kinetic energy for bigger hits. Someone once told me Fa Jin is used in real life like this. A standing long jump when swung correctly has the same force as a running long jump. A martial art. It definitely matches what we see in the episode at least. Faux 100%. Probably the thing I’ve found hardest to explain in OFA. Not because it doesn’t fit, but because it’s THAT weird. I’m SO happy they brought back the word faux because that’s DEFINITELY on purpose. Faux means 2 things. Imitation. But the one I notice far more is it means false. It’s not actually 100%. So what is this ability? Deku is using 405 of 900 in my theory. 45% of a stockpile 9x greater than season 1. Yet even though what we saw was BEYOND impressive, the mystery missing 60x booster is still absent. This isn’t OFA’s best. But it IS the best Deku can accomplish as of now. 900 of 900. HIS best. But I need to preface this. There is no way that this show would spend 6 FULL seasons showing us the importance of mastering 100% of the stockpile and just unlock a magic quirk that fills the gap. They would NOT do that. Much less call it “faux” if it’s meant to be treated as the same. We saw what Shigaraki does with Decay and AFO’s/All-Might’s city blasts. As INCREDIBLE as Deku is, we have yet to get to the point where we can safely say he’s reached it. So keep your eyes sharp. Claiming the prime has yet to occur. Speaking of which. All-Might. The man might not be the #1 hero anymore and he’s not the symbol of peace. But he DOES remain the 8th holder of OFA. Even with no access to the power within. He will STILL throw literally EVERYTHING away to protect Deku as his father and to relieve him of the burden he’s smashed into him. You can have grenades and….gigantic nails from the shoulders what the heck. But NONE of that will stop him. He’s STILL All-Might. And he’s IMMEDIATELY back in dad mode once he scares off the thugs. And then we have Overhaul. It’s disturbing to see him so completely burnt out and broken. And it’s unclear if he even truly remembers everything from his arc in season 4. (Not that I blame him. Deku kinda blew him sky high and exploded his everything…and THEN got his arms lopped off and his years of work stolen.) No one will follow a demon with no heart is what his pops told him. And he’s regained some semblance of it. Though I guess we can’t say his pops was completely correct with the ever growing list of those making the deal with the devil these days. And then we go into Deku’s eyes. Deku has been strained in ways many people can’t even imagine. It’s the scariest thing about being an empath. With an ability that lets us sense emotions in others as our own comes an equally strong “recoil” to the ability. Not unlike quirks but people in real life have this talent. Myself included. Each passing episode Deku’s eyes get darker and darker in this arc as he loses himself. As worried as I am about the kid physically, my concern is not even CLOSE to the concern of his emotional burden. And it FAR exceeds any mental or physical burden as he literally bounds through buildings using 6 quirks at once, and fights with an ASSASSIN. He’s always fighting the blowback of his real ability. And that strain is FAR more dangerous to him than even his exploding arm recoil. Because there’s nothing worse than dying of a broken heart. And this state, it puts him under a strain I equate to that. I’ll explain it in full next episode. But just know Deku is DEAD inside. He couldn’t even say “Plus Ultra” at the end of the preview. He says “I’m fine. Really.” He’s GONE.

It's always a pleasure hearing you break down these episodes ! Season 6 is so full of goodness and I'm sad we're near the end of it, but I'm so happy it happened. Not a single episode of it has been a miss so far. As someone who pretty much only watches subbed, I was very excited to hear the dub ! Not many shows do that for me, and I think it's a big credit to MHA that it does. The dub is really outstanding !
Deku at least looking for Overhaul to show the capacity for *remorse* for his actions with Eri (I don't think actually meet her, but at least be apologetic towards her like he is to pops). In manga - "If you can direct that same energy toward Eri". I think the dub should have phrased it this way... some of the nuance is lost. He genuinely dislikes Overhaul, you can hear it in his voice, even if he has a possible empathetic offer.
I couldn't help but chuckle when you said it was good that Deku's ability to reach his hand to people who want/still can be saved ended up saving Lady Nagant first and some annoying meat head like Muscular lmao 😅😅 imagine Deku reaching out to Muscular like this but not Lady Nagant lol that would've been twisted. Truth be t8ld everyone calling Nagant a villain in the first is crazy she's isn't in the slightest she's less of a villain than Gentle and La Brava. Glad Deku was able to reach out to her before it was too late.
@Ariel Martinez But he gave a lot more effort with trying to reach out to Lady Nagant cuz it was clear to Deku throughout the fight that she wasn't like Muscular she wasn't someone that was completely hopeless in trying to save
In case someone else didn't already say these bits of trivia 1: Fa Jin aka Hakkei is named after one of those oddly specific terms from martial arts that's hard to translate consisely, but the best I can think of is "explosive force" and it's the sort of concept exhibited by Bruce Lee's famous one-inch punch or that scene from Kill Bill where the Bride has to punch through a board with no windup. 2. Lady Nagant gets her name from the Mosin Nagant which was a Russian sniper rifle from the world war eras.
I think the dub made a mistake in the translation. Deku doesn't tell Overhaul to apologize to eri. He tells: "If you can direct that same energy toward Eri". Since deku can see that overhaul is someone capable of feeling guilt for someone, let him feel it for the right person. The dub way looks like deku is asking overhaul to look for her and apologize. They should have said exactly like in the manga.
I definitely don't like the apology line as much. Apologizing won't help a traumatized child, it won't make the abuse better. What I understand he's asking is that Overhaul focus on making Eri's life better, channeling the remorse he feels for his pops into atonement to her. The same way Endeavor is doing his best to right his wrongs.
@@corruptedteka in the official translation, deku talks more about overhaul feeling for what he did to eri, since there he is showing that he can have feelings like that. Deku says this coldly precisely because Chisaki manages to be human, but he is only directing those feelings towards a single person, it wasn't just one life that he ruined. Deku never tells him to go to Eri and apologize, it's more about Chisaki having those feelings, seeing that he traumatized her. So the dub should have done the same as the original.
Yeah, now I see people misunderstanding and getting mad at Deku for saying this. Whoever did dub scripting legimately fumbled here when they had official wording in the manga as blue print...
One enjoyable part of this episode's philosophy is how grey the world is but also how the two sides of optimism and pessimism can still exist. Lady Nagant setting off AFO’s explosive is a neat way to show that while evil can have a point about the flaws of good, it's still evil regardless. You just can't have nice things -- can't wait to see what you think of next episode where we see how Deku takes this loss.
This episode is my favorite episode of this season so far, it's just thoroughly beautiful and perfect, and it's the start of the thing we've been talking about here forever!
Greetings, Here is some very important context to bring attention to the safety commission's ideology and Nagant's reasons for killing the commissioner. The first thing we should understand is that the Safety Commission's basic premise is to manage the interactions between heroes and general society, and (arguably most important of all) they also exist to maintain the link between heroes and society (a link that has been alive since before heroism even came to exist, as we know it). Now, here is what the anime did not mention that the manga did...the commission did not seek the death of heroes exclusively. Let me explain: On the front end, the heroes capture villains who threaten public safety or break rules, and they deliver them to the police for prosecution and sentencing, the basic works. However... when an act of evil is severe enough to essentially compromise the relationship between heroes and citizens, the game changes. An example used in the manga is someone plotting an act of terrorism. Something like that can badly hurt society as a whole, and the law or proper channels might not be enough to fix things up. What if there is a hero who has gained fame, status, fortune, and trust amongst the citizens, but is simultaneously colluding with a gang of villains behind closed doors (let's go a step further and say they were engaging in child trafficking)? Law and order will likely not work because these particular acts of villainy are capable of shaking the bedrock of society as a whole by damaging the relationship between heroes and citizens...IF they enter public sight. Such people have to disappear from the public senses entirely. Que the back end of hero society. When the safety commission has determined someone is enough of a threat to damage the natural foundations of society, they call upon a different kind of hero, one they personally trained to make such threats disappear. People like Lady Nagant. Her job was killing these people before their actions made it to the public, and whether the target(s) in question were actively doing the deeds or simply PLANNING/THINKING about doing them was irrelevant. Nagant, unsurprisingly, grew tired of doing this, especially after having her expectations of heroism being this glorious discipline of saving people shattered. However, she was still willing to hear out the safety commission president, hence those questions she was asking him; she was hoping there was some kind of higher purpose behind their actions beyond just spinning an obviously false narrative. She was already going to abandon her role as a hero with the commission after hearing the guy's answer, but she killed him because he made clear she would not leave without repercussions (it was not explicitly shown he was pulling for a gun, but I imagine it was not her contract in his pocket either) One really important takeaway, for me at least, is that the Safety Commissioners are not inherently evil (corrupt, fair enough) people; They really do have society's best interest in mind when they act. But, they saw how bad and fragile society was before All Might came into power, and I think after seeing what he brought to the table, they were hyper evasive of letting society go back to what it was, even if it took lying to people to maintain the balance. It also did not help that even before the lying began, people thought heroes could do no wrong or something close to it, nor did it help that heroes in general became more vain as heroism became more lucrative. Obviously, this mindset is FATALLY flawed in that they cannot maintain appearances forever, but I just wanted to point out some really important context to give these guys some humanity (a lot of people really hate the public safety commission). Edit: Lady Nagant's name is Kaina Tsutsumi. Cheers, co is

Loved that opening. First of all let's talk about how All Might is 7 foot 1... And even though he's ailing he's still skilled from the decades of service like you said. And he's only like 50 or 55. I feel where Lady Nagant was coming from but, I also think her breakdown and the changing of the guard, and just generally society chilling out due to All Might's reign led to reforms because even though Hawks was their secret operative he was not popping folks in the head left and right and overall the society seems to put villains in jail more than they kill them.
9:33 Deku is able to adapt and accept what Nagant tells him because he has already heard and seen strong cases of the hero society not being what it was showing itself to be, Endeavor, a hero doing terrible things to hiss family, but trying to do better for everyone now and Shigaraki, someone that the so called ideal hero society never even gave a chance to begin with, instead tried to cover him up like so how they did with many others, which is also why Deku wants to give them that chance now, save them from their current paths if possible
This episode shows a *culmination* for pay off with Deku since the beginning, characterized with studying quirks and combining their use for effectiveness. Like recalling for sport festival calvary team battle in S2 with him as team captain. In S3 for camp arc with catching up to villains using his friend's quirks after his body was busted after Muscular fight, again in S3 with him using combined effort to rescue Bakugo from being kidnapped, and all those other training arcs working with classmates too. So that was the foundation for him then to now, in order to appreciate seeing him reach a new level for it.
Honestly if there's one show I need him to watch it's hunter hunter, I can only imagine the commentary and how much he would understand of those characters as it's revealed

no, all might doesn’t have any fraction of his powers left really, just enough to barely transform into his buff-form. he still has that connection within one for all that we learned about the last couple episodes, but that’s about it.
Well if you ever feel conflicted about doing dirty work for a morally grey clandestand shadowy government you should at the slightest hint of hostility murder the leader and later work for someone who is obviously evil because hey at least he is honest about being a douche then you won't need to feel conflicted. Also now All for one made it personal by blowing upp the waifu now its on for the fandom.

As a sub-only, I found I really like discovering the dub from these reaction videos. This season especially has made me soooooo curious about how lines would be said and so forth. Shame you can't enjoy them, but everyone's different. I'm natively french and I certainly don't watch french dubs anymore.
Yeah he definitely doesn't look fine in those closing shots
@@AGoodwinTV yeah I got a double comment for next episode because I wanted to discuss the ins and outs of Deku’s condition.
Man your what when Lady Nagant exploded was exactly how I reacted and yeah Nagant is awesome, AFO is a menace and I love your thoughts and discussion regarding the episode.
Btw. I recently stumbled upon your content cause of Twitter. Glad I did. You're awesome and stay healthy m8 :)
Thanks you too! And thank you to the person who shared on Twitter 😊
I have not watched your reacts in awhile, and then I come back, and you still that great reactor who can give a dialectical and whole homily at the end.
Can we just get a video of all your analysises?
Thanks for calling it a homily instead of the usual "rant" 😂
For a while I've wanted to go back, watch old videos, and consolidate them into... Something. But at 700 or so videos it's a daunting task
@@AGoodwinTV Omg, you responded to me. Been watching you since 2020 on and off.
I can see it be daunting if you try to do all of them. You've done a lot of videos. The question was more of me acknowledging how much I appreciate your "rants". I don't think other reactors do it as much as you do. Especially when I link some of these to my life. So thank you again.
Love how All Might pulled a Stain speech
Deku at least looking for Overhaul to show the capacity for *remorse* for his actions with Eri (I don't think actually meet her, but at least be apologetic towards her like he is to pops). In manga - "If you can direct that same energy toward Eri". I think the dub should have phrased it this way... some of the nuance is lost.
He genuinely dislikes Overhaul, you can hear it in his voice, even if he has a possible empathetic offer.
That 100 percent faux Deku flying at Overhaul he looks like a Airplane haha
I couldn't help but chuckle when you said it was good that Deku's ability to reach his hand to people who want/still can be saved ended up saving Lady Nagant first and some annoying meat head like Muscular lmao 😅😅 imagine Deku reaching out to Muscular like this but not Lady Nagant lol that would've been twisted. Truth be t8ld everyone calling Nagant a villain in the first is crazy she's isn't in the slightest she's less of a villain than Gentle and La Brava. Glad Deku was able to reach out to her before it was too late.
Deku tried to reach out and understand Muscular too and how he ended up a Villain, but saw it wasn't possible with him
@Ariel Martinez But he gave a lot more effort with trying to reach out to Lady Nagant cuz it was clear to Deku throughout the fight that she wasn't like Muscular she wasn't someone that was completely hopeless in trying to save
@@gantashiro978 that's true
All might pulled a stain on those two guys. I also find it funny how every reactor so far thinks of thunder spears at the start of the episode.
Great video!! Love your commentary!!
I love how you called the faster than a speeding bullet! Lol
I think she's just saying the AFO is at least honest about his wickedness. He's not really hiding behind a mask of false benevolence.
Lady Nagant's name and Quirk is based on the Mosin Nagant, a sniper rifle from World War 2, and a weapon I remember from Call of Duty: World at War
It's in Metal Gear Solid 3 as well
This episode is my favorite episode of this season so far, it's just thoroughly beautiful and perfect, and it's the start of the thing we've been talking about here forever!
Greetings,
Here is some very important context to bring attention to the safety commission's ideology and Nagant's reasons for killing the commissioner.
Let me explain:
On the front end, the heroes capture villains who threaten public safety or break rules, and they deliver them to the police for prosecution and sentencing, the basic works. However... when an act of evil is severe enough to essentially compromise the relationship between heroes and citizens, the game changes.
She was already going to abandon her role as a hero with the commission after hearing the guy's answer, but she killed him because he made clear she would not leave without repercussions (it was not explicitly shown he was pulling for a gun, but I imagine it was not her contract in his pocket either)
One really important takeaway, for me at least, is that the Safety Commissioners are not inherently evil (corrupt, fair enough) people; They really do have society's best interest in mind when they act.

Now here's the million dollar question. Could Deku have saved Eren?🤔
In the Deku column, he was already able to change fate once before with Overhaul
Deku already saved Eren during the tournament arc. 😅
(Eren's JP VA is the same as Todoroki Shoto)
@@NekoBatyx And the American one is Shindo's VA who he yanked out of Todoroki's fire during the licensing exam so he saved both Erens. lol
Finally Caught up with the mha reactions
Would you be down to reacting at any point in the future to The Legend of Vox Machina?
Interested to see your reactions for these next few episodes with Deku, as the ending with him mad at AFO is ominous. lol
I liked the callback to Endeavor's advice during their training
@@AGoodwinTV Yep, some carryover from Endeavor's mentoring is good to see.
Thumbnail of this video so cool 😎

Mommy Nagant!!!! Hihihi
They always talk about dirty heroes, now we know what happened to them. Jailed or killed if they were too close to disrupting the status quo.
Animation is on top level in this episode
Honestly if there's one show I need him to watch it's hunter hunter, I can only imagine the commentary and how much he would understand of those characters as it's revealed

no, all might doesn’t have any fraction of his powers left really, just enough to barely transform into his buff-form. he still has that connection within one for all that we learned about the last couple episodes, but that’s about it.
Dont worry dont be disapointed, lady nagant isn't dead loooll
Well if you ever feel conflicted about doing dirty work for a morally grey clandestand shadowy government you should at the slightest hint of hostility murder the leader and later work for someone who is obviously evil because hey at least he is honest about being a douche then you won't need to feel conflicted.
Also now All for one made it personal by blowing upp the waifu now its on for the fandom.
I theorize that DadMight is actually WAY STRONGER than AllMight, because now that OneForAll has left him, his TRUE Quirk has awakened….

Quirk: KING-ENGINE!!!

I really can't with the dub unfortunately (which is absolutely not a suggestion for you to change it), so I'm actually just skipping the anime bits to just have your input on the episode ahahah, they are just that interesting ! Keep doing what you're doing, I really like your way of looking at media and expanding/giving your thought on it !
Why don't you like the dub?
As a sub-only, I found I really like discovering the dub from these reaction videos. This season especially has made me soooooo curious about how lines would be said and so forth. Shame you can't enjoy them, but everyone's different.
I'm natively french and I certainly don't watch french dubs anymore. No offense to the actors, but they always use the same dozen popular VAs and it pisses me off. And I can't deny there's always a little sense of cringe. Maybe that's why ?
There's a bunch of sub watchers that praise the MHA Eng dub.
@@corruptedteka Funny coincidence ! I'm actually also a native french ! I learned english by watching/reading subs of series when I was younger @Lit. Maybe now it feels like a chore ? Or maybe I just like Japanese VA too much. But it's mostly a choice for me, I always prefer watching media in their original languages, I would never watch an american film in french. So why should I watch a japanese anime in english ? It's really just a me-stuff (and maybe a french stuff ahah)
VERY understandable !! I really feel that ! On my own, I'll always watch original versions, but I don't mind much when I'm watching videos.
There IS something about japanese voice acting that resonates with me. It's very emotional, in a way that I can relate to, but that most people probably find overbearing.
Day 21 of asking for Bocchi the Rock (sub) reactions! :D.
