That keyboard part on the first solo of the FF9 final battle theme reminds me of "Burn" by Deep Purple, I don't know if it was an intentional insert, but if it was, it's a spark of genius!
@sprinkle because when I turn this on and close my eyes i imagine two brothers adventure together, they have intense fights against strong opponents and epic creatures if I hadn't fallen. Asleep by sephiroth then something happens and the brothers get separated and turn on one another and so in and so forth and by the end of the song they kill each other but I am usually asleep by the 2t minute mark
This is fantastic! My favourite themes generally come from later games in the series, but strangely the first 10 minutes are the best for me. And ending on just a snippet of X-2, inspired. Edit: I'm including the intro to V in this, so the first 12 minutes, I guess.

If you owned a PSP and played Crisis Core and the PSP versions of FF1, 2 and 4 you would be surprised at how good they are. Crisis core completed my FF7 experience and the battle mechanic is really fun. FF1 and 2 are so relaxing to play because in the remade versions they have beautiful music. But everyone has favorites and people tend to stick to the things they know and love. Still the games are definitely not bad.
