Poor FF2... Why does no-one love you? You have a stunning story especially for the era, A party that transcends life and death and it frequently brought tears to my eyes... And the map theme. All of my yes.
Depends on what "FF2" You're referring to. If it's the original that didn't see a release in the West until ages later, then the easiest way to explain why it didn't get popular was the gameplay. 'To raise defense get hit a lot! To raise attack attack a lot!' and so on. Each of those stats work against each other, making the grind far /far/ worse. I tried to play through the game but the leveling system meant that it took forever to get anywhere and immediately made it my least liked Final Fantasy. At least the other leveling systems don't work against each other like 2's does. Quest 64 did the same thing and I don't know anyone who /liked/ that aspect of the game. Although the beginning of FF2 and how the cast gets /wrecked/ was really thematic and I approve of that. If you're talking FF4, that's definitely not the case. A lot of people /love/ FF4. Cecil and his journey of redemption was a story that /really/ pushed the envelope of gaming at the time.

The soundtrack of the first 3 games (which I hold dear in my childhood memories) was heavy enough in 8 bit. But it really seems that they were practically made for future metal translations.

Great taste, but I would like to add X to the awesomeness as well :) I always liked IV, IX and X for their nice approach to leveling (no Jobs, no materia, NO JUNCTIONS) and the overall setting. In particular IX is pure Beauty :)

Why did we go from awesome stories, like FFIV's Redemption Story, FF5's self parody, (I have not played 6) FFVII's use of finding yourself, FFVIII showing that you can't be withdrawn and not rely on others, and IX. IX where the main antagonist is literally a psychopath because he felt he was perfect and then was replaced.

5:32 - FFX main battle theme. This soundtrack is a lot more different than other main battle themes. I've been searching youtube for several hours yet haven't found the exact same soundtrack. Love the soundtrakcs and videos. Wish i knew where i could find a longer version of FFX main battle theme ( The exact same version in this video ofcourse )

I like FF2's story, but the battle mechanics drive me away...
I'd love it if FF2 was overhauled with an FF1/3/4/etc-style level system. I'd probably never put the game down.
I watch/listen this at least 3-4 times a day, 1 for workout, rest for playing League of Legends! Thank you Antoff7!
