    Appreciate the review, I like your no-bs approach. I just bought the GW-2310 (positive display).

    I love how the beginning of your video you are thanking everyone for 100 subs and how it’s such a big deal to you… I just found this video because I’m in the market for a g shock and checked your channel and you’re now at over 10k subscribers. That is awesome man.

      That's awesome. Definitely went way further than I originally planned. Initial goal was 50 subs. I'm a lot more addicted and a lot less happy now🤣

    Completely agree with your assessment of the GW2310’s. My personal favorite of all the G’s..and I’ve owned a ton of them since the late 1980’s. The combination of fit, look, functionality and toughness just makes it a winner for me in everyday use. A true worry free warrior of a watch. The positive display model being my everyday driver. Congrats on all the subs!

    I really appreciate your side by side comparisons. I wouldn't worry too much about a small battle scar though. These deserve to be used as intended. Battle scars are proof of use. Nothing more. Wear your faithful companion with pride!

    You stated that your charge is on mid, but it's actually on high. If it were in mid then the white indicator would be on mid and not on high. You also have power saving on. If you were to turn if off you would see the white bar under PS go off.

    *_The 2310s (& its cousin the 2300) DO come in various colors: kelly green, white (& I believe w/ blue accents, black w/ the red bezel, black & orange w/ a negative display, & my favorite, the G-Viper G2310GH-8 with the which is charcoal gray w/ a faint RED or pinkish display. It's a limited edition model that somebody needs to procure for me 😊._*

    I paid 99 cents for mine, found it it's salvation army. Had a regular battery in it needed to replace it with a rechargeable one and clean it up a bit. But well worth the $0.99. seems to have a crisper display then both my mudman and negative rangeman do.

      @@degenerateWA my now ex-wife worked there at the time which definitely helped. But it would of went out on the floor for about $5 which still would have been an awesome deal. It's a nice little watch and pretty much absolutely maintenance free. It charges on its own it maintains accurate time on its own all you have to do is wear it.

    I am actually shopping for a watch for my son just joined the navy and will be serving on a submarine. I was curious how the solar charging works when confined to only artifical light. It seems to have served you well in that regard so I am sold on getting him a solar g-shock now.

    • @degenerateWA
      @degenerateWA  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's awesome. Been a bubblehead 14 years and counting. Can't say I loved every minute of it but I also wouldn't change anything either. These g shocks are perfect for what your son is getting in to. Battery reserve is good for 6-8 months, especially with 'power save' mode on. "Tough Solar" is a very resilient system.

      @@degenerateWA I also got some of those JayandKays adapters and slide on a magnetic watch band. This band works great when I do not wear it I just hang it up on anything that magnets stick to like my fridge.

    If you are looking for the best G-Shock watch under $100 I agree GW2310 and G2300 are the best. My first G-Shock watch was a G2300, I bought it in 2000 and it's still running in 2022, I have only replaced the band because I usually swim at the beach wearing the watch, but I have never replaced the battery. My second G-Shock was a GR-8900A, which is very similiar to these watches but a bit bigger and with double pin clasp, but the big difference is the price GR-8900A cost aproximately the double. After having these watches for more than 10 years I think G2300 GW2310 families are totally worth it, and I think GR-8900 and these watches should cost about the same.

    Can you control when and how often the watch syncs up with multi band 6?

    • @degenerateWA
      @degenerateWA  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can turn on/off the auto syn, but you can't control what time the auto sync happens. However you can manually sync it anytime you want.

    Hey man so Im looking to but my very first G-Shock and was wondering compared to normal G-shocks that last years on end without a battery change, do G-Shocks with the solar feature stop working all around without solar bars? If so wouldnt it just be best to get a guaranteed years until battery change over the dead one without sunlight?

    • @degenerateWA
      @degenerateWA  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You bring up excellent points. There are pros and cons to standard battery powered watches and solar powered watches. One of the pros of battery powered watches is exactly what you mentioned above. Once the battery dies the only replacement part you need is a new battery that you can get from almost any store.
      With a solar watch, when it finally reaches the end of its life you'll either need a special solar battery, a capacitor, new solar cells, or whatever special solar component that you wouldn't have in a standard watch.
      With that being said, a Casio solar watch is can last MUCH longer. We're talking about 3-5x longer, and considering how long G-Shock batteries last, 3-5x longer is a very long time (12-20 years)(this is all assuming that your lifestyle involves some decent light sources like the sun every once in a while)
      I think with that amount of time, you're really not going to care when the watch finally dies and more than likely you'll just end up buying another watch. Of course you could replace some components to revive the watch if you wanted to.

    • @stampstepper2393
      @stampstepper2393 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@degenerateWA Wow thanks for all the information I think Solar would be best then? Just a $20-30 solar battery every 6+ years not bad at all; Lastly so with solar watches I WILL have to replace those three things each time?

    • @degenerateWA
      @degenerateWA  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@stampstepper2393 no, it's just something to consider. Those are some of the things that will eventually need replacing, and not necessarily at the same time. Reviving a solar watch isn't hard per se, but it is more of an ordeal than a standard battery.
      The important thing to remember is there is no such thing as a forever watch. All watches will eventually fail and waste away over time, but G shocks last so long that they will outlive your interest in the watch. I say go for solar but either one is a good pick
