its the Dutch spelling variation of the word Baroque which is a highly ornate and often extravagant style of architecture, music, dance, painting, sculpture and other arts that flourished in Europe from the early 17th until the mid-18th century. It followed Renaissance art and Mannerism and preceded the Rococo and Neoclassical styles.
Reminds me of Alchemy but in 3D. Alchemy is very good for finding shapes and character concepts very very rapidly , was really artist friendly IMO. It's really old by now and I think it only exports to PDF but I recently checked it out again and found it pretty useful, in conjunction with Krita or paintstorm.
Interesting! I tried it out, and it is a really unique way of doing things! I would only use it if I was making a mesh that I knew could benefit from doing things this way, and I'll probably still use Blender for most things, BUT when this tool is useful, it's REALLY useful, and saves a lot of time. Very cool! Thanks for showing us this!
The tool looks great, can't wait to see what they do in 2.0, now, with the Facebook side, there are tools for social media interaction, and pretty sure they are free tools as well, I hope this guys change their marketing strategy, because the tool has A LOT of potential Edit: I gonna wait for 2.0
Hmm.. looks interesting, but to be honest, any kind of modelling app with an undo button that doesn't work half the time just isn't worth the effort imo, if they can fix that, then maybe I'll have another look at some point.
Yeah, I mean there's a workaround (turn on file history in windows and spam the save shortcut), but that's a pain in the butt... I don't know how a developer could even label the software as anything but a beta with basic functionality like undo completely unusable... I'd be more forgiving if the version number was 0.7b or something similar, so that the downloading public would at least have an inkling that basic functions may or may not be broken... One point whatever releases may have small bugs, but not glaring inadequacies like a broken undo function... Hopefully whenever version 2.0 comes out the basic flaws will be ironed out instead of new gizmos being slapped on a still broken foundation...
Seems interesting, but I think I'll stick to Blender. Not being able to undo seems like a pretty big flaw, personally I'm not someone who likes to spend time just tinkering around with tools- I get there are hobbyists out there, but if I learn a tool I'm learning it so I can get work done or to produce a particular thing.
Well, to be fair, I did hear that there is going to be a new update for this program later on. We just simply don't know when that will happen, I'm afraid. Also, funny that you mention Blender. Not gonna lie, I can definitely see this program a fairly good supplement alongside with Blender. Hell, I can probably even use 2 of these programs together.
Neobarok = Nee-oh-bah-rohk. it comes from the term "Baroque", which is a design and artistry style created during the end of the Renaissance punctuated by huge amounts of design excess in detail, decoration, color, and so on. To say Baroque means "too much" is not wrong.

They should have, at the very least, put a message in their "News" section on their website that any further dev news will appear on their FB fan page only. That would be good enough for me. I see a lot of companies doing this, and I agree it's a huge mistake. Unfortunately for us who despise FB, it's still the biggest social media outlet by far, with billions of users. I guess if your dev team consists of ONLY one guy, and you hold down a second job, and the app is completely free, and you don't have any time at all to maintain a website or post on multiple platforms, then FB is probably the best way to reach the most people in the least amount of effort. That's my only guess as to why some people do it that way.
I'd "Like" this more than once if i could, just for the comments about Facebook. Another great vid thanks :) On the point about if Facebook is any good for marketing, i have seen more than a few Subreddit indi and gamedev posts that mention Fb, Twitter etc giving only marginal purchases or views most indi devs seem to be saying there not really worth it, and they get more interest/wish lists etc from itch.io, steam, game jolt, and hell even indidb etc.
Thanks so much. I have been looking for a sculpting tool faster and easier to use than blender for a while. I was getting ready to use voxels for a while but I'll try this out instead.
People really dislike social media in general and most marketers choose their battle when marketing. But twiiter, facebook etc. all falls into the same bucket it all depends on your marketing strategy. I suggest based on my experience working with startups and different companies you post where your market is or where your marketing is the most helpful. Whether is it a tech blog, vlog series on TH-cam or Vimeo, twitter, facebook, instagram, etc. I don't think you should discriminate especially when you are in the discovery stage. All social forms of marketing have its own quirks so you have to do what works of you and your audience. How high of a polycount can you go in this program? Could be a good compliment to Blender if it's possible to work with tens of millions of vertices like in ZBrush without much slowdown.
I did heard that someone tried going over a hundred thousands polys in this program with little issue. They tried doing the same thing in Blender, but with 3x times of that amount, which then resulted in Blender itself literally lagging like crazy.
that is the type of new tool that is cool and so on but in the end of the day it's just a fun tool for you to play with it but it's extremely hard to actually make something useful out of it

i agree about facebook tbh, i've never had a facebook and probably never will have a facebook Instagram i've been a little more on the fence about getting but i am still pretty iffy with insta being owned by facebook
If I can't get the latest version of a program because it is only available through FaceBook, I don't want it! FaceBook compromised my info three times within six months, so I decided never to use faceBook, or even visit it ever again! Three strikes and you're out so far as I am concerned, and that goes double for FaceBook!
This seems to be about quickly concepting 3d objects that would be difficult to model with polygons. I'm interested to see how it does things. its definitely not a replacement for blender
It does. I heard and understood that. But honestly, telling me it has a unique workflow doesn't answer the/my question. Especially not, if e.g. the "undo-tool is broken half of the time for half of the tools" and "we're bugging out of it." Nevermind. It may be a good program, but it seems to have a long way to go yet.
Suppose this is a good time to mention, just because I mention a program on this channel doesn't mean specifically that I'm endorsing it. Just making people aware so they can draw their own opinions. To directly answer the question, the big differences are again the workflow, you can pull off certain kinds of modelling task far faster than you would in Blender or other apps. It's also substantially more focused and less complex than Blended making it a hell of a lot easier to just pick up and go Most importantly, it's got obj in and out, so it's not really designed to replace your existing pipeline, but to slot into it. Create quick prototypes using Neobarok, then export them to Blender or elsewhere for retopo, texturing etc. Hopefully 2.0 does address some of the UI glitches though.
Facebook is stupid but like TH-cam and Google it's one of the few sites people use like an addiction. Sure people are there, but there's a lot of noise there and your message can get drowned out. If they're on your site they've probably come to seek information as cleanly and directly as possible otherwise why even have your own website?
i this tool looks good but i have to meny program errors is very annoying to use tools meny time dasn not working correctly yes this happen in many programs have some errors or crash but when the hapent i fixed in next versions or don't happen often Anyway I think this program need to fix this menu problem like Ctrl + Z.....
no me funciono en linux aparentemente el ejecutable es 32 bits me paso lo mismo con la version de win ejecutada en wine voy a intentar hacer una maquina virtual de 32bits aver que pasa...
This probably won't be much more than a niche application on desktop, but if he ported this to iPad, with pencil and gesture support...this guy would be a friggin' rockstar. There really isn't much going for 3d modelling there, so you have a chance to stand out.
I usually find every software I can but I've never heard of this software and thats sad I don't know what people should use to show progress though, they should use Twitter at least. I don't like Facebook either
If people like Facebook for managing their social marketing, then hey, use that. But certainly have more than one channel, and IF you have more than one channel, USE them. Everything including my cat has Facebook integrations these days, so there's no reason to not have a "post one place, show up everywhere" system in place.

Not working on Linux Mint. Sad, because this looked very appealing.
aparentemente el ejecutable es 32 bits ejecutado desde una terminal pide esta libreria libsfml-window.so.2.3
i agree about facebook tbh, i've never had a facebook and probably never will have a facebook
Instagram i've been a little more on the fence about getting but i am still pretty iffy with insta being owned by facebook
If I can't get the latest version of a program because it is only available through FaceBook, I don't want it! FaceBook compromised my info three times within six months, so I decided never to use faceBook, or even visit it ever again! Three strikes and you're out so far as I am concerned, and that goes double for FaceBook!
Why would I choose that over Blender?
Lol, you don't.
It says why literally 30 seconds in... :/
It's also substantially more focused and less complex than Blended making it a hell of a lot easier to just pick up and go
Most importantly, it's got obj in and out, so it's not really designed to replace your existing pipeline, but to slot into it.
If they're on your site they've probably come to seek information as cleanly and directly as possible otherwise why even have your own website?
haha that was so funny
i really enjoyed that
Well the program is broken. I didnt manage to do anything in it. :(
i this tool looks good but i have to meny program errors is very annoying to use tools meny time dasn not working correctly yes this happen in many programs have some errors or crash but when the hapent i fixed in next versions or don't happen often Anyway I think this program need to fix this menu problem like Ctrl + Z.....
Free, Crowdfunded, but not Open-Source? :-(
2.0 is out now.
FACEBOOK ONLY MARKETING ? WHAT WERE THEY THINKING ?
+1 for the Facebook hate. I'd not even have bothered following the facebook link, and just assumed it was a dead project.
Looks interesting, but I think I'll just stick with Blender.
no undo whenever it feels like. hmm.
Ui not the same as your vid missing menu.
Facebook is the devil as well ;)
why?
tldr: neobarok seems cool, and i hate facebook
i agree
5:12 baaaa
Lol
Anyone else here knows this software from hypnothalamus' art? Used to see his stuff all the time on deviantart...
Maybe they are going for the grandparent 3d modeling niche by exclusively marketing on facebook.
I won't use it, because the name is too similar to Barry from Kenya. That and I haven't logged into facebook in like five years.
'Potential' is a curse word.
As is 'Facebook'.
something is telling me game-from-scratch-guy doesn't like facebook
Is this promo?
Yes, I make 50% of every dollar made on this free product.

Cool, gonna try it. Totally agree, hate facebook.
Yeah, a broken undo is gonna be a pretty big no from me.
They released 2.0
Yup, Fakebook is evil, I try not to go there if ever possible.
system requirements
I never had an Facebook account! Hate Facebook! I hate socialnetworks!
What does MARK and NEOBAROK have in common THEY ARE BOTH TOOLS LOL
MARK? Is that another sculpting tool?
Nice tool, terrible marketing strategy. But guess they're a small team and that stuff can be exhausting.
SketchUp married blender
This probably won't be much more than a niche application on desktop, but if he ported this to iPad, with pencil and gesture support...this guy would be a friggin' rockstar. There really isn't much going for 3d modelling there, so you have a chance to stand out.
"I HATE facebook" -GameFromScratch
I'll stand by that.
I usually find every software I can but I've never heard of this software and thats sad
I don't know what people should use to show progress though, they should use Twitter at least.

Its pronounced "near broke".
Near Broke
