    Some more good 3D modeling programs I use are: Asset Forge, Microsoft 3D paint, Microsoft 3D Builder, Kenshape (by Kenney), and Crocotile 3D for making 3D pixel art with retro 8it/16 bit styled graphics.

    Given the BSP-to-static mesh feature and modeling plugins, I'd throw Unreal Engine onto the list too. The BSP modeling alone doesn't get enough love, despite all of the useful customization settings. Hell, apply Megascans surface materials and those models could really shine.

    Not being an artist I found 3D to be very intimidating. Last year I stumbled across spline 3D and then Vectary.
    Both felt very user friendly mainly in their UI being so obvious and I used them along with some of the (outdated) tutorials they include.
    But later on I would want to do something that popped into my head but didn't know how to actually make it. I would look for insight in their discord server or tutorials on yt but more often than not I would just come to a dead end. Of course this was a skill issue since looking up stuff made with both you can find really cool stuff.
    In the end I decided Blender having a metric ton more tutorials and resources far outweighed it looking intimidating and I admit at the beginning I felt lost but after trying a couple beginner's guides it does become more manageable.
    I don't recommend the famous Donut tutorial because on part 3 you'll find the instructions are outdated and the pinned comment doesn't help.

      Same, i've been "trying to start learning" for whole my life. Followed some tutorial, kind of know what's happening. Make something i want from scratch, can't make anything.
      I hope people figure out vr modelling and sculpting and replace mouse.

      Wait, Donut tutorial has been remade 2 times already. Are you watching the 2.7x version?
      Also, watch the chair one, I've completed it once it came out and it's really beginner friendly. Highly recommended. Blender Guru is such a nice guy.
      We're lucky to have nice fellas like Mike & Andrew Price in this field.

    Regarding Vroid's exporting tool. It's been a while since I worked with it, but when I did, I changed the file extension (in Windows) of the exported file from (whatever it was, again sorry, it's been a while) to .dae, and Blender was able to recognize it as a COLLADA file and import it.

    VRM is actually just a binary GLTF file with additional Meta Data( like author, Licensing, Permissions, etc). If you want to import it into blender, just change the extension to GLB and it will work out of the box. Pretty much any 3d dcc that supports GLTF should be able to import this format. However there are dedicated plugins for blender, Unreal Engine and Unity, too. Reportedly RPG Maker Unite will support VRM files, too.
    Rocket 3F looks interesting, will check it out.

    One additional thing you have to take into account when looking at DAZ is the licensing. They basically only allow you to create stuff for yourself and non-commercial. If you want to use it for anything be it 2D (prints or artwork for pay) or 3D (printing 3D or CNC) OR using it in Game Engines (Interactive or 3D animated), you will pay between 15 and 100 dollars for a license.

    • @weirdscix
      @weirdscix ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's not really correct, for a standard product it's "Any 2D artwork you produce and render out is completely owned by you (unless specified otherwise on the product page). You can use your 2D works commercially, modify them, sell them, or promote them, as protected by the End User License Agreement (EULA). This is because the end product is a 2D render (your artwork) of the 3D model, as opposed to the original 3D Content." If you want to use the content in something like Unreal then you would need an interactive licence, which is pretty standard.

    • @maddehaan
      @maddehaan ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@weirdscix if this is the case, I stand corrected. The text as you can read from my comment is ambiguous in this and should be made as clear as possible between the legal implications and the understanding of the user.

    I would not recommend DazStudio, it is free and good, but the terms they have is very restrictive and the company is very aggressive, I asked if I could use it to make a pose for a character used in a game I used to make custom snapshots/images they just answered no and banned me, so you can not use that program to make characters or poses to ant game or VR, not even if you made the character and only use Daz to pose the figure

    DAZ is NOT free! You cant use DAZ in games without payment. Read license!
    Reallusion prohibits to use their models in NSFW content. Do not expect to make adult games using their tools.

    • @Elwaves2925
      @Elwaves2925 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Daz software is free, so it is correct to say that. Licenses are a whole other thing but I get your point.
      However, he was wrong to call Daz a modeller. It has very basic modelling functions but it's a character creator first and foremost.

    • @LimbaZero
      @LimbaZero ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't see anymore mention of nsfw content in reallusion license. Now it's more in-app char generators etc that need enterprise licenses. I think I saw that nsfw restriction before they revamped their licenses.
      DAZ studio is more like rendering / animation tool (also character creator if you have base models). I think it's mostly used for rendering images for visual novels. If you want to use marketplace 3d models in real time applications then you also need interactive license for model.
