    For people struggling to find liquid smoke, just use smoked paprika. It's got a lovely warm smokiness and red colour which seeps into sauces if you cook with it. Much easier to find in the shops too.

    Steve looks so amazed that it turned out well! Another great use for this would be in a tofu scramble, or my personal favorite, a veganized baked nacho platter. Cheers!

    • @lupepinto1473

      Its better to wrap in clingfilm and steam. This way your food won’t absorb any heavy metals from the foil, and note importantly, your food will hold together much more compared to baking.

    I made this last night and it was much better than another vorizo recipe I've tried. The flavour much much nicer than I expected but the texture was a bit crumbly. Is there anything you can suggest to hold it in place more? The seitan chorizo I tried had more of the holding texture - does anyone know if you can combine TVP with Seitan easily/safely? I feel they would then get even closer to the real texture. Blending it all up is a good idea too, that I might try next time.
    P.S. I have grown up on and eaten meat as the main source of my meals for the last 30 odd years so I am using my experience of the real thing to try and develop the closest thing to it. I plan do adapt the flavours a bit more too as neither recipe I've tried makes me think of real chorizo. Maybe a bit of Basil, demera sugar (or other sweetners), little bit of chipoltle flakes, tiny bit of nutmeg?

    Love your videos. This looks delicious. My issue is - it's vegan but it's not all that healthy (oil, starch, liquid smoke - not that healthy). Other than that - looks amazing!

    • @kelsiecakes100
      @kelsiecakes100 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Udi Assaf look not everything that’s vegan is healthy , you can have these treats sometimes and it’s totally allowed :) some people need a balance of food for health and food for the soul 💜

    • @shtroizn
      @shtroizn 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      kelsey Doyle I agree with you on both counts: a) Not all vegan food is healthy (and there are some very sick vegans out there) and b) Yes - if you really need some "food for the soul" - go for it! Just know what's healthy and what isn't and base your choices on knowledge as well as cravings. 💙 Back to you :)

    • @kelsiecakes100
      @kelsiecakes100 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oil is healthy though- in relatively small amounts- specifically olive oil ( like a tablespoon a day)

    • @shtroizn
      @shtroizn 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure that is correct - www.pritikin.com/your-health/healthy-living/eating-right/1103-whats-wrong-with-olive-oil.html
      Of course - there are other studies that say otherwise - but this looks pretty legit. Anyway - a little bit shouldn't be that bad for you.

      I'd say if you seared it off ( after slicing/ chopping ) it would hold up better for pasta

    We call it Pepperoni in the UK but I would like to try a vegan version. I always had to have pepperoni pizza when I ate animals but I don't miss it.

    • @LauRa-ry2uw
      @LauRa-ry2uw 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      David Mcgregor you might call it pepperoni, but the rest of us Brits realise that chorizo and pepperoni are not the same thing.

    • @ezridelafuente1181
      @ezridelafuente1181 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      A bit different seasoning to make it pepperoni. Think more Italian herbs just to really have it pair well with the red sauce on your future pizzas

    • @ApexHerbivore
      @ApexHerbivore 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be fair, it didn't contain paprika (which chorizo does) and DID contain pepper, so it's closer to a pepperoni than a chorizo!

    • @ezridelafuente1181
      @ezridelafuente1181 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ouroboros in fact it did contain paprika, quite a bit of it in fact as well as a lot of cumin. Easy misunderstanding.

    • @ApexHerbivore
      @ApexHerbivore 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ezridelafuente1181 Thanks for the correction! I had to rewatch it, I was convinced they didn't use paprika. Serves me right for trying to cook dinner and watch TH-cam at the same time!

      Aluminum is one of the things that builds up in your system----We get enough from things we can't control, such as our polluted air, no reason to use it when it's unnecessary----
      Alzheimers is merely one condition that is made worse by it---- :(
      And, remember, snopes is wrong sometimes----(Two pople in a room can not be right about everything-- :) )

    So, is this the Spanish kind, or the Mexican kind? The flavor profile seems Spanish, but the advice on how to serve it sounds Mexican. Or did you mean tortilla in the Spanish sense, rather than Mexican? Arrrrrgh!!! So confused! TFP!

    • @SherriReves
      @SherriReves 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or the Portuguese, or Italian kind? Guessing not the Mexican kind since they were hoping for a thicker skin, and that it held its shape after being sliced.
