This is the "BLOOODY HONOUR" any soldier of that calibre truly deserves. Remembering him and keeping his memories alive, and most importantly, telling us about it through your platform. I had a smile throughout while watching this. Thank you, Shekhar ji.
General Jacob was the best Punjab Governor I have known. Hard working and attentive, toured Punjab relentlessly with minimal show. A relief from Governors who were blind to extra judicial functioning of state machinery and self enriching land grabbers.
what a legend!! Next time when Israeli PM is in India we should inaugurate his life-size memorial, probably somewhere in Gurugrams tech hub. It will honor this great man, inform the tech world (with lot of Jewish founders & CEOs) that this man existed and help us advance our soft power.
What war where Hindu, Sikh, Zoroastrian, Jews, Christian and Muslim soldiers of India fought to save Muslim civilians of Bangladesh from Pakistani Muslim army😊
One of your finest tributes, SG. I enjoyed this video immensely since you really captured in this tribute both the character of the man, your relationship with him, and his zest for life. I was remoinded of your other tribute video, to Dev Anand, that I also really enjoyed for the same reasons. Other recent ones you have done on Sant Bhindranwale and Bal Thackerey were also brilliant. I hope you do these more freuqnetly. Thanks for a lovely tribute. I was in tears of appreciation for Gen. Jacob's love for India.
Thank you for such kind words, my friend. It is always wonderful to read the feedback from our viewers. I'm so glad you enjoyed this episode...best wishes, Shekhar
This is a fine video on a colourful war hero of India. I have lived through the times of 1971 war. You missed mentioning on important task performed by Maj. Gen Jacob in the 1971 war. He was the one who drafted the surrender agreement signed by Lt Gen AAK Niyazi of Pakistan.
I have read both of his books and what a insight he had about China which has come true. I always dreamt of meeting this legend . I was disppointed when he passed away. He is one of my heroes.
@ThePrint The way in which Shekhar sir tells us these memoirs is mesmerizing . Please create a separate playlist for all such videos so that people like me in their early 20s can experience the greatness of these individuals (including SG) .
Never new that Gen. Jacob was such a jolly, happy, doen to earth guy. Many thanks to Shekhar to spread insights on an Indian war hero. These stories that Shekhar tells make me really jealous of him.
Thank you, Siddharth. I'm glad you enjoyed this episode. I am indeed blessed to be living the life I am, and thanks to journalism that I was able to meet such wonderful people...best wishes, Shekhar
This video was so good it made me feel guilty of not knowing this legend before. So thanks for brining this to our attention. Its an honor to learn about this man just as a human being more than a general
Thank you for this informative and poignant podcast of one of Indias greatest and shrewdwest warriors in recorded indian history Gen Jacob's historic secret meeting with Pakistani general Niazi not only ensured a lightening Indian victory but also saved further loss of life to both belligerent, I am proud that my father an Indian army officer served under this iconic Gen Jacob during the 1971 war,Thank you Shekhar Gupta ji for your wholesome praiseworthy coverage of one of Indias greatest military heros
Often times, i feel that CTC/ national interest episodes are tad too long.. but this one at 10 mins is way too short.. would hace loved to hear more about Jake and his work
I burst out laughing at They were the only ones that asked me Wonderful episode, Shekhar sir Please bring us more of these And hopefully another one on this loveable personality
India may have missed out on recognizing Gen. Jacob's contribution, but Bangladesh remembers him. He was honored by the government, well respected by Bangladesh military and his book about 1971 war is one of the highest sold book on the liberation war of Bangladesh. Bless you Jacob, Love and salutation from Bangladesh!
Thank you Shekarji for bringing out this episode. I wonder about such persona of retaining child like enthusiasm and inocense as to how it's possible..truly godly quality 🙏
Proud for gen.Jecob these deffence people have different kind of high quality blood they always get more respect from our society. They always talk less but work more. My humble salute to him. Admiration for you to make such useful documentry for us.
In the late 70s and early 80s, my father worked in an organization whose chairman was the General (as Lt Gen Jacob was fondly known). Learned a lot about him at that time and have the utmost respect for him
Besides being a professionally competent army officer, Gen Jacob was an expert in culinary arts, affectionately called Potato Jacob! An ideal Role Model
Ajay Shukla being the person who choose the day the former chief of staff and others crashed was celebrating with a cheesecake , surely respected and honourable .
JFR Jacob was from Kolkata. He was the person who made Niazi surrender. He was Jew and now it seems he made a mistake liberating Muslim majority bangladesh.
JFR Jacob thought in details about what was to be done and his strategic thinking was one of the reasons Bangladesh won. He trained the Mukti Bahini and he was followed by them to the dot. From where to attack, where to resist where to hide etc. He was given one of the highest civilian honours in Bangladesh for a reason
Great narration, SG. Should the media take the blame for inadequate coverage of the successes of the Indian Defence forces since 1947? A point to ponder. Tailpiece: The media by design or by default…. Was not fair to the soldier in decades since Independence. Just saying
Indian Jewish and Parsi communities are real gems 💎
So few in number but produced such historic personalities

BLOODY GOOOD EPISODE BOY. Thank You for telling these stories Shekhar Gaaru.
As Bangladeshi, we are forever indebted to Gen. Jacob.
Thanks to Shekar Gupta for bringing out such gem of episodes. And I must add that I envy the life SG has lived :)
Jewish contribution to India's progress is immense🙏
There are very few Indian Jews we know
Zoroastrians and Jains are "our jews"
Bhakts somehow manage to lick boots of Jews and Hitler at the same time
And they still have made postive contributions@@ChandranPrema123

It would have happened to me as well if I had met him. True history buffs know his legacy. Truly selfless
A Jew got one of the largest Muslim armies in the world to surrender. Sounds like some Biblical story. This can only happen in India.
It is cherry on the top. Jewish general negotiating Pakistan surrender.
