I used this to make Soap Sacks as a S.A.C.K. volunteer - made 10 and filled with new, unopened bars of soap from Dollar store - donated them to local charity program that offers shower facilities to homeless in community! They Loved them!! I got this idea from you in another video! Thank you - so gratifying!!!
That sounds amazing!!!! I am so happy that you were able to help your community by doing something you love AND that you picked one of the patterns I have shared on my channel. Thank you for sharing your story! 😊🧶❤️
Love this pattern! Crochet stitches make the best soap sacks because they feel more textural than straight knitting.....that's too smooth. I love soap sacks....using them and gifting them. This is a classy, giftable soap sack. The Soap Sacs charity recipient who receives this one will feel special.
Thanks for showing this because Before I found your video I was trying this exact pattern and it was confusing the way the op had written it out. It was coming along but I new I had some mistakes that was just bugging the crap out of me so I frogged it and here I am! And was able to fix my mistake! I’m a visual learner so reading it with no pics is not the easiest for me so thanks for this one!
Love these. I mostly make things to sell or gift so I want patterns that I can easily memorize or adjust sizing. This pattern works up great and can be adjusted to any size soap.
I know the hat you help me make through your beanie hat tutorial has nothing to do with this but it came out so pretty and very warm. I was outside after the Northeastern, snow storm and it kept my head and ears warm unlike no other hat I’ve made in the Pat. Love it.
Oh wow Leslie! That is really great! I am so happy the hat you made from my tutorial was able to keep your head warm through such cold conditions. Thank you so much for sharing this! 😊❤️🧶
@@CrochetWithTiffany You are the Bomb!!! Thank you for sharing your amazing ideas and beautiful work with us. You are so inspiring. What a beautiful heart!
Tiffany so glad I found your channel. I love the sweater too you’re wearing. You are beautiful. I’ve been looking for a soap cozy for awhile. Makes great gifts. Thank you so much.
There are a few more soap savers on the website you got this pattern from that I would love to see videos for. Could you please do a tutorial on the ribbed crochet soap saver and the puffy stitch soap saver? I would love to make some for Mother's day for my mom. I love your channel and your patterns.
Hi Haley! I'll see what I can do. I am actually talking to the S.A.C.K. Soap Sack Charity Foundation about a campaign soon and it would be great to have some extra patterns to play with. Thanks for the request. 😊🧡🧶
I love S.A.C.K. I've made some of their patterns. Can you please try to get those tutorials done in the next few weeks? I have some birthdays coming up for some of my friends, and I would love to make some quick gifts for them. Creative Grandma has two soap saver patterns that I've been obsessed with for the past year, and I've made several of both. I don't know why, but I absolutely love making soap savers. These new mothers will be good to add to my list of designs. I hope those tutorials can be made seon. You're awesome. :)
I love this and your spa collection so far! For this sinch pouch, if I wanted to make one for a size of 8 c 5.5, what would you suggest the chain should be and amount of rows? TIA
Hi Christie! I love this pouch too. Still one of my favorite projects. For a bigger pouch I would increase the number of chains in your foundation row to a little wider than the soap itself. Chain a multiple of 2. Then work the pouch and play with the number or rows. Placing the soup in the pouch until the pouch is approximately 3-4 rows taller than the soap itself. Personal preference. I hope this helps! 😊🧶❤️
Hi Asmita! I’m so glad you love the soap pouch! The designer of the French Market Bag, Two Of Wands, politely asked me to take the tutorial down. So out of respect to the creator I did. 😊. You can find it on her website Two Of Wands.
I made this using a 100% cotton yarn like the video said, but it held water so much and wouldn’t dry out for days, leaving the soap inside it mushy. I’ll try using an acrylic yarn and see if that dries faster.
Interesting! Thank you so much for sharing your experience and feedback with this project. Hmm, maybe try a thinner cotton yarn? I would not recommend working this project with an acrylic yarn though. Acrylic yarn starts to break down in water which is why it is highly recommended to wash any acrylic project on the gentle cycle. You are more than welcome to give it a try to experiment but I have a feeling this is what will happen. Best wishes and have fun! 😊❤️🧶
@@CrochetWithTiffany thanks for the reply, Tiffany! The yarn I used was “I Love This Cotton! 3.5 oz, 4 medium.” What do you think of that one? It could be possible that the soap I used could be part of the issue? The soap is Hope-n-Dreams brand, a local handmade brand, made from oils and butters, so it it is a softer soap rather than the really hard/dry bars. But that said, even the parts of the yarn that did not have soap goop in it took really long to dry too
Great question Tukallin. Yes! You want to you 100% cotton to make your soap sack because cotton works great with water. All other fibers will breakdown and feel awful.
I wouldn't. Unfortunately, acrylic yarn breaks down with being used in this way. People who have used acrylic soap sacks are not fans of it. I think I have heard of one person who said they didn't mind it but that's it. Cotton or Cotton Blend yarn fiber is known to be very compatible with water and be more durable with use in water. You can find really cheap 100% cotton yarn at your local Walmart or craft store. I hope this helps.
Hi Denise, unfortunately this pattern is not mine. It was one I found off of Pinterest. Unfortunately I think that pattern has been removed. You can try to find it by searching through google but I think it would be easiest if you watched the video and wrote down the instructions. So much faster. 😊🧶❤️
Hi Tiffany, can i use DK light yarn as i have lots of excess DK Cotton yarn. If so, how many Foundation chain is needed and hook size to get that size ? Please advise. Thank you😊
Hi @lehaco. You absolutely could use a size DK yarn to make up this project. Hmm, I'm not 100% sure how many chains would be needed to work up the foundation as the pattern didn't give a multiple, though my best guess is that it would be in a multiple of 2. You may need to play with the foundation row to see if round 1 will work up evenly AND if the size is big enough for a bar of soap to fit in. Unfortunately that is not something I have the ability to provide for you at this time but I believe you can absolutely figure this out on your own. 😉😊❤️🧶
Hi Cindy, I'm sorry. I'm proud of you for trying and trying though! That's great! No worries, let's brush this one off and on to the next project. 😉😊🧡🧶
I personally would like to see the camera closer to the work especially when you are showing us which stitch etc to go into, I can’t always see!! Thanks!!
Oh, there should be a link in the description section of the video. It is a pattern I found off of Pinterest. If the link does not exist anymore just follow along with the directions in the video.
Hi Debbie! Yes, this soap pouch pattern is not my own. I give her all the credit for the free pattern. I just provide a visual aid on how to make it. 😊❤️🧶
Are your video instructions different from your free pattern foound in crochetncrafts.com/pretty-simple-soap-cozy/ or am i getting something wrong. In the video you instruct us to make two hdch between the two hdch. In the pattern you instruct us to make the two hdch in the space between two pairs of hdch. Or??
Hi Aliki! Hmm, let me check this out.. Ah, I think I see what is happening. When you are working the hdch stitches of this pattern you are not working them on top of any stitch. Those will always be made between the stitches. I think what may have happened is in my video tutorial I was trying to show what was going on when making the stitches but in the written instructions I was trying to be more informative and descriptive in what I was doing but ultimately you are doing the exact same thing. My apologies for the confusion. 😊🧶🧡
