Pity about the bad experience. In southern Europe people smoke a lot more than in northern Europe. A few days ago we took the rather modern (CAF) train from Podgorica to Bijelo Polje, up and down. A stunning experience, friendly crew, no smokers. Wonderful trainride.
I’m very sorry about this experience. In general I would avoid any overnight train in the seater carriage, that’s always yuckie even in western Europe. the beds in the sleeper car are like 20-30€ extra and are very comfy! Definitely worth the price difference. While the toilets there are outdated too, water was indeed flowing in the sinks. Comfy bed and amazing scenery really made this train the favorite one I ever took in Europe!
I would have loved to take a sleeper, but it was a lot lot more than 20-30eur. We were quoted almost 100. Nice to hear that you get what you pay for though, that's refreshing!
Yeah... to all the foreigners who want to take this train.. MAKE SURE to not buy just the basic tickets for 25e, but rather to book an actual sleeping compartment. IT IS WELL WORTH the money. You will have your own place, peace, window.. nice comfy bed.. clean toilet with working water etc.. But yeah.. once this raliway line gets the renovation it deservers.. hopefully soon.. and gets new everything replaced from tracks to the trains themselves.. it will be one epic journey for sure. It is an engineering marvel. It has the highest train bridge in the whole of Europe. It has amazing scenery along the way.. You cross hundreds of bridges... hundreds of tunnels.. and you end up at the Adriatic coast. Best way to take this train route is to go from Belgrade > Bar with the evening train and to book yourself an actual sleeping cabin. (total cost is around 70e per person) If you book just the basic ticket (25e) you will not get your bed.. and you will stay in the same place where these guys did.. and it's not pleasant.. (even on new trains you dont want to spend 10+hrs in a normal seat.. by the time you arrive at your destination you will be tired.. sleepless and with backpain + neckpain)
We live and learn! 👏😅 It's a long trip this year, so we had to keep the costs manageable. For those that are in a position to do that, for sure, I'm sure it's a better experience. I just hate being woken up multiple times by border patrol if im in a comfy bed haha!
I am very sorry for your bad experience, I will try to speak to the personel in charge of the fast train about the hand washing water problem, there should be at least 1 person in each carriage to supervise the passengers and stand at the door when at the station to help passengers to enter/exit, it is very unprofessional, there should be no smoking in the carriages, but there is no one to enforce the ban, the electronic doors sometimes close by themselves and sometimes there is a malfunction and the computer that controls them has to be restarted , the summer train has a planned departure from the Novi Sad to Bijela Reka and it will be a new Stadler train, and from Bijela Reka to the bar a Montenegro electric train will go .Just tell me which day you started trip ?
@@IronAki ohh I see. I hope the new train will be better, but the problems usually start with the workers. Nobody seemed to care when I told them about the problems we had on board. It's hard to fix something like that
@@s34nvideos i know ,even when they have 8 hrs to check everything, sometimes slips out but usually is everything in order .New stadler flirt train will have ac and snacks and 2 fully working toliets and will start from Novi Sad in 8:20 with stops in Belgrade and arrive in Bijela Rijeka at 20h .

Sorry you had such a bad experience. You missed some of the world's best scenery. The Montenegro section of the journey is stunning. Podgorica and Budva are the two worst places to go in Montenegro imho. Everywhere else is wonderful! Cheers.
Thank you! :) I didn't manage to stay in Podgorica, as we went straight on to Budva, but I had a really good time running through the mountains during my time in Budva! Amazing views and an amazing experience! I ended up a bit lost and re-surfacing near Kotor! As for the town, I didn't enjoy Budva itself too much though! Hopefully I can visit again and see more places, thank you!
@@s34nTravels Sounds great. Yeah I spent 8 days driving around it (plus one train trip and two boat trips lol) last year. Kotor Bay, Durmitor National Park and Lovcen NP in particular are ridiculous. Cheers.

It's that weird logic of saying: "Well it's cheap, so f*** you.". It honestly makes no sense at all. Imagine having a flight to America where the floor was missing, but it was 50 cents.... Yeah, it's cheap, so shut up... Yeah but the floor is missing lol. Draw a line right above human rights is usually the way, no?

Ooohhh... that's deceptively rough!
No water and critical maintenance issues - I bet that's not on the tourist brochure!
I don't think they have a tourist brochure! One and done!! 😆💯👌 We survived at least!

Reminds me of British Rail in the 70's, except you didn't breakdown.
