I had a bus at school that was way too packed, but the route it was on was verified for a double decker. I remember the first day the school hired a double decker bus me and my friends were in the block closest to the gates, saw it pull up with the route to our stops and as soon as the bell went we bolted to the bus and got the front seats up top. Best bus ride ever.
Next: 5 door double decker with 2 at the top including 2 slides for exit

Insane inside layout! London needs these. As long as they're Euro 6 standard.
Bus Chronicles 207 well the front seat on the top level better have seatbelts because if the driver stops short the person is going through the windshield glass.
@@MikeJ2023 Not a physics person but from personal experience in similar buses its not bad at all, just a slight rock. Ive never fallen over in a bus before even when the driver isn't the greatest. Not sure how you don't feel like falling over though
@@MikeJ2023 nothing of the sort has happened. It's just a jolt. Even during sudden stops.

It was on regular public service, I just timed it so I would board at a non peak section that I knew will have little or no people on board.

Here my review of it.
From the looks of it,it look great.It seem to have equiped with USB charging port,however it depend how fast it is.
The concept is great,but rather i would love to see the 3rd exit door be blocked.no point using a safety barrier.People will abuse it especially when it is full,rather i would covered it up,so people at the back will exit through the 2nd door(right hand side) rather than on the 3rd door.This will allow the people at the top to exit freely without using on the right side.If the tap machine is faulty,just exit.No point worrying about not tapping.it just a few dollar lost.
This will also ensure people don't block the exit as most people do.
Singaporean love to hog at the exit way,i hope this changes when the new buses arrives.
The 3rd exit barrier is to allow passengers to return to the lower deck

And BVG went with the boring MMC from ADL instead of using MAN to build a modern LCDD, I get it the aftermarket sales arent good for LHD double decks but this vehicle is wonderful

@@Horizon301. Thats cool man, in Singapore public transport is heavily encouraged to reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions. So good buses are essential, we probably took some ideas from the best of the best
@@sunrayyourmom yeah it’s less so here as it’s not that convenient in the country side.
The 3rd door is about flow. Saving ~10 seconds per stop on average is significant ( how many stops per day ?) .
Finally a seat that is tall enough for my head to rest. All these while my head is dangling in the air in normal buses and it makes me dizzy. To rest my head, I need to slouch badly

I'm surprised by how stable you managed to film this. Usually I can't film on a moving bus without shaking the camera a lot because of bumpy roads and stuff.

I feel surprised, and somehow regretful, that while Hong Kong and Singapore are buying an increasing number of MAN double-deckers (although built by other bodybuilders), the decade-long MAN DD customer Berlin's BVG decided to abandon MAN... Or maybe it's the other way around -- MAN abandoned BVG...

So what is the purpose of there being 2 stairs? That means less seats on both the 1st and 2nd deck...
1 stairs for going up and 1 for going down. Lesser dwell time, lesser congestion
@@glitchFan2428 that make sense but HOW much of a difference will it make? I know right now when people from the 2nd deck wants to alight they walk down the stairs as the bus is going to the next stop or they leave the stairs when the bus is stopped. For those that wants to enter will wait for them to leave the stairs and then they use the stairs to get up. I dont see how double stairs significantly reduces time loss.
@@alphaexpress6881 from personal observation it seems that it's not making a significant difference. I suppose this could be attributed to the fact that most ppl still choose to use the front staircase to go down as they are used to doing just that.

@@alphaexpress6881 yes. In the past there were huge green and orange stickers discouraging this, but they have since been removed.

0:25 - the rear "exit only" staircase is a good idea but why have so many pay points? Guess in SG you can get on and off the bus from the front door or middle
Perhaps due to programming limitations with the fare computer mandating an even no. of EZ-link (farecard) readers, which if true might be a holdover from when articulated buses were more common & had more space, & thus unlike this bus (as well as the latest 3-door ADL Enviro500 MMC) didn't have narrower single-leaf exit doors wide enough for only 1 instead of 2 ppl to alight @ a time, & thus needed only 1 reader, but still put 2 readers due to the aforementioned limitations

The Man a95 number plate difference is SG5999Z is a 3 Door euro 5 whereas SG5998B is a 2 door euro 6

very modern design, the LED lights make the stairways look cool... but 2 stairways design means less capacity, may be missing 10 - 14 seats?...
It is not a tourist travel bus, it is a bus for local city use.
One stairs up, one stairs down speeds up movement through and in and out of the bus.
I counted 26 seats downstairs and 53 upstairs; that's at least the same as a normal 'decker.
