Never found out the noise, I'm still driving the car and it still makes the noise but hasn't got any worse. I did get under the car one day and I moved the power steering pipe (where the pipe drops down from the pump and passes the air intake pipe) around and the noise stopped. It seems the pipe is resting against the air intake pipe. The noise didn't fully go but it did sound a hell of a lot better

Yeah, I put a new power steering pump in it, new water pump and a new fan belt. None of it made any difference. The only thing i can say for sure is, when I started the engine with the fan belt of, the car sounded perfect, no noise, when i put the belt back on, the noise came back. The alternator was reconditioned just before i bought the car and idler pulley and tension pulley made no noise when I checked them with the belt of. I think the only thing left is the A/C compressor, something inside that may well be making the noise as the A/C in my car is not and has never worked. Hope that helps in some way
@@ff40mad I used a siphon hose and ducked out the old fluid and put new in with a bottle of that Lucas power steering stop leak and conditioner and the sound of mine is almost gone so I thinking maybe the rack and pinion is whining since you have done the power steering pump. My car is a 02 saab 93 2.0 turbo convertible I love car but I hate that loud whining sound I hope with in next few days sound goes away I just did the replacement of fluid and sound went down 40 percent at least so keep me informed I'll keep you informed. And I thought these cars have electric fans.
@@ff40mad My car is making the exact same noise, and I was also guessing that it was the power steering pump. But when I was looking for the source of the sound, the sound seemed to come from the A/C compressor. My A/C also doesn't work for quite some time now, so I don't think that's a coincidence. Luckily, I have the exact same car that I keep for spare parts, so I will be changing the A/C compressor one of these days. I will keep you posted!
@@SeamonVB please let me know if you change it and it solves the problem, I havent had a chance yet to change my one so I can't say for sure, thanks again

did you find out what was wrong in the end?
My car is doing this has any one found out the problem?
Does the noise stop when you depress the clutch. ( I have a similar noise and it stops when pressing clutch)
Your talking about a clutch release bearing, no it's not that, my car is an auto
@@ff40mad That's very helpful - thank you . 'Hope your's gets sorted
What made that noise?
