I think that most game dev freelancers have tons of templates lying around, there are even sites where you can buy all the popular mobile game templates. If you ask for something that they don't have template for they usually refuse

That's something I've been wondering about for some time now. What the hell happens if you pay one of those guys to make you a game, or even a part of a game, not just for the usual gimmick of a youtube video but to release it yourself ? I suppose it might just depend on the conditions you agree upon, in a contract, but it still boggles my mind. You can actually pay someone peanuts in the form of a few hundreds bucks, to release games that can potentially pay you back this much, every month for the foreseeable future??? Dayum. Just invest a few thousands and you're a millionaire next year or so. Sitting on your ass all day.
Totally, But I guess you also have the risk of it being a huge flop and you wasted your money on a game that no one plays hahaha In this case I decided to let the devs keep any money that they make from the games (mainly because I was too lazy to upload it and take care of it). I will make a second video after this one looking at the revenue the 500$ game made to see how lucratif you could be with this! One thing to keep in mind is that the main source of advertisement is from this video, so if you don't have the skills and the channel to make this video, being profitable might be way harder XD
@@Floky Well, yeah, it'd be unrealistic to expect every single one of them 'throwaway' games to be a banger but they still come at a very slim production cost individually. So much so it wouldn't surprise me if one game paid back for dozens of them. Games revenues mostly follow the single hit followed by a ever-shrinking tail. But adding them up for a while can allow you to live comfortably. Plus you can hone and refine what types of game work the best, and even use this overflowing production to test out game ideas by having multiple people prototyping different games on the same pitch. And at some point you might have a big enough catalogue to start up your own platform. Which is a similar but somewhat different business if you start publicising other people's games and simply taking a cut of their revenue on your platform. (which can also scale up into a fullblown game studio of your own, too.) The marketing part can be a bottleneck but I highly doubt it. Most mobile game studios exist and thrive without ever being heard of. I don't know if they simply rely on platforms' algorithms recommending their games or sheer luck. Likewise, every indie game isn't a big hit everyone knows about, but they still do well. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks marketing is only a ploy to justify higher prices, to pump up the perceived production cost of a product by telling the tale of the marketing budget being half of the overall budget if not even more. (particularly present in the cinema industry) Either way that's not the end of the world, opening twitter and youtube accounts to spread the word a little doesn't seem like an impenetrable wall. Depending on the types of game, it can easily be promoted with gifs, which can be quickly compiled with some background music to makes ads and pay tiktok to roll them everywhere possible. There, done, you could hardly do better marketing anyway. Looking forward to the success story of this game though
