Little mix-up at 1:38, the gearbox is a G50, not 950, I think you must have been combining the older 915 with the term G50. Hard to speak on camera so I do not fault you!
You could have mentioned the factory power upgrade (X51) for Varioram engined cars... All the Porsche 993 Carreras (non RS) have 3,600 cc. Porsche introduced VarioRam for the 1996 model year which increased the 993 Carrera’s power output from 272 to 286 ps. The first owner could order the factory power upgrade (X51). With a larger 200 cc increase the engine power output went up to 300 ps.
I believe I do mention the X51 upgrade option in another email in the 993 S Playlist but thank you for the reminder. At the time, the additional 200cc increase in capacity would have been a substantial gain in power.
Re: cooling, you skipped over the oil cooler / heat exchanger + fan in the front right corner of the car. And since we're on this subject, the HVAC cooler / heat exchanger + fan is in the front left corner. If you've ever had to change the ballast resistors, you know the fun this entails!
Great run down of the engine differences. I replaced the bearings in the wing. They are known to go bad. I also disabled the mph switch so it only goes up and down manually. Didn't want the wing rising and lowering non stop in traffic. Motor will wear out faster. Love your car. Wish I caught the air cooled bug earlier so I could have got a turbo at a reasonable price. If they ever come down in price wife wants the 4s and I will get a turbo.
Thanks, much appreciated. I have contemplated the wing hack but due to only driving it on special days it wouldn’t really be much of a benefit. Another common hack is to put the oil cooling fan second speed stage on a switch instead of being temperature controlled.

Must have missed that...thanks.

This car is a beauty
Elvie Lins thank you. 😃
Cool video….just watched a restoration of a 993 on wheeler dealers….yours looks far better though
I remember that restoration. Mine was near immaculate. 👍😊
Great review; how many miles do you have on that 993?
Hi Robert. Had just under 60k mileage on the 993 S.
