this year with no standard exams across the country people can often predict their results a bit more, so people will have more grounded predictions on what they can expect for their worse subjects.

I got the exact same grades and i went to a very public school in Birmingham with parents that don't speak English. GCSEs are piss easy and the only people that failed them didn't revise at all

I love how real this is. So many studytubers normalise aspiring for and getting A*’s or 9’s in everything, but for the majority of people that doesn’t quite happen - which is fine. Any grades are amazing as long as you’re happy with them and you did your best. You should be really proud!
If someone’s best isn’t an A, u may say thats okay but here in Asia we don’t use words, in fact you parents never talk to you again. You will be a disappointment to the family and will be forced to have tuition for the next 2 years.
No but like seriously though, if a grade is not the best and there is room for inprovement, improve because being content with a B is embarassing.
That’s not a nice thing to say, Asian ideals aren’t everyone’s ideals

I can relate so much with her and her reactions to getting the marks she didn’t think she would. I’m also what some of you would call an ‘over achiever’ and even though I might get an A or something I’ll still be disappointed that the percent wasn’t as high as I thought it would be. There’s nothing more disappointing then getting a grade lower than you thought you would because you KNOW you could have done better.

well done, doing my gcses this school year but feeling the stress start to build up. Im predicted 9s in every subject and am on track in most apart from the sciences that im on track for a 7 in and history that im on track for an 8 in which is a bit shit but its just all kinda starting to build up and stressing me out because i hate revising and cant see myself doing it. On top of it I took rs a year early after getting 8s in my mocks before it but ended up getting a 6 so ive been placed in a study club after school till 6 everyday which is good fun. looking forward to being in the same situation as you having done it all and good luck with your alevels.

Ahlam Syed I mainly just go over dates and important people , once you get your writing to a good standard the main think is CK (contextual knowledge) so its how i improve it. (Things like flash cards etc.)

She has a right to be upset. Different people have different aspirations. Just because you’d be happy with something doesn’t mean someone else would and vice versa. If you ‘feel really bad’ on the basis of someone else’s aspirations that’s your problem.

To everyone complaining at her complaining you have to understand success is relative. If you’ve been getting 8/9 all year and come out with a 6 or a 7 then you are going to be a bit disappointed, on the flip side if you’ve been failing all year and pass then you’re obviously going to be ecstatic with just a 5. Stop hating on her just because your expectations weren’t as high as hers.

So glad I'm in the second year of the new history spec as now we know how to answer each question and plan what's going to come up easier. At my school average on an 8 mark question was 2 marks and across the country so many people didn't do well. It's a lot more understandable and better now we know the structure of answers and mark scheme. Congratulations on your results
Hey, I've just come from your stream and am pretty impressed and totally get if you may be disappointed with grades most would live for but isn't Your best so I get that, you're super successful anyway however happy you were and all the hard work paid off in different ways if not the grades you wanted x you're great at a nice chatty stream too

I don’t live in England so I don’t quite get the GCSE system but oh my gosh Well done!! Your hard work really paid off! Also don’t be discouraged by theology. My dad is a theologian and anytime he tries explaining things to me it’s confusing as heck

i did my GCSEs 2 years ago and had 27 exams, the stress may seem a lot at the moment but once you get into A levels you’ll realise they really don’t matter, i got a grade 9 in literature and it hasn’t meant anything since leaving school, despite taking A level English Lit

To us Asians anything below a 7(A) is a fail. Lmao.

TheSteve142 Gaming It isn’t. This new grading system introduced a grade which would be the equivalent of what would be an A**. A 4 being a c would mean this grade didnt exist.
Guess Who Am I I live in NI so ours has changed to match England’s so I think I’m right
9- A* [ above about 95%]
8 and 7 - A [ above 80%]
6 - b [ above 70%]
Five - c* [ high c or above 65%]
4 - c [ above 60%]
Less than 4 - fail

Just curious, what history exam board did you use? I’m doing Edexcel, medicine through time, American west, America conflict at home and abroad and Anglo saxon and Norman England. And I am getting grade 9’s and really do not find it hard.
( also I am not an intelligent person, for example I’m failing all sciences, I just find history so easy)

the mark schemes for all of the subjects are very different and also depend on how hard/ how well the rest of the country did. so basically it's not really fair on yourself to compare your grades across subjects like biology and english :)
My friend plagiarized the first episode of Tokyo Ghoul and I plagiarized the first episode of My Hero Academia for English Language 40 marker.... We both got grade 7's.... And my teacher noobs told me anime is a waste of time during GCSE :v
