    Honestly guys, you should work hard for your GCSE's. Although they may not 'define who you are' they are important for several reasons:
    1. To go to the best college possible (giving you a chance to to better academically and allows you to go to the better uni's and earn more money)
    2. You may not be privileged like saffron to have a TH-cam channel. BTW TH-cam is unlikely to provide a stable income for most people and probably won't last up to retirement. You need something to fall back on.
    3. To set an example. If you work hard you can achieve something.

      So true, TH-cam will survive for maybe another 5-10 years then they'll have to get a real job lol...which 100% requires you to excel academically

      literally gonna say. she said 'this piece of paper does not define the rest of your life' or something. well it does. it's what gets you into a decent college which gets you to a decent university which gets you a decent job. when TH-cam fails you, you will know

    I was so happy to hear your mum say how it doesn't matter what you got because you tried so hard and that you get an A* for personality! I hear soo many parents disappointed with their kids over results because they're not B's and above which is such a shame because a lot of people are just gifted in things other than academics! Well done Saffron :)

  • @KellyLouiseYeahx
    @KellyLouiseYeahx 8 ปีที่แล้ว +310

    Some of the comments on this are disgusting! This 16 year old girl has the right to be proud of herself! She is absolutely right that GCSEs don't define you, I did mine 8 years ago and can absolutely categorically say that's true! You only really need Cs to go into further education but I know plenty of people who didn't and still got into uni and have degrees! My brother didn't get many GCSEs, he now earns more than me (who has a degree) and both my parents who are teachers, GCSEs definitely do not define your future!

    • @owenbollard975
      @owenbollard975 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Come on.... I didn't do absolutely amazing but why is she so proud of her grades? They aren't exactly good are they?

    • @owenbollard975
      @owenbollard975 8 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      ***** Not being funny but if you get below a C you shouldnt be proud because it is a fail

    • @KellyLouiseYeahx
      @KellyLouiseYeahx 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ***** below C isn't a fail grade you tool, a G is still a pass!! Yes further education ask for Cs and above but that doesn't mean below that is a fail. My only D was in French, did I fail French? No. My brother isn't academic, he hardly did any GCSEs and no Cs, he did not fail, he did the best he could and didn't fail ANY of them. He is now earning more than both of our parents who are teachers and me who has a degree. He isn't a failure because he didn't meet the standards of people who we've never met. I also know many people who didn't achieve many C grades but have gone on to do degrees. Maybe do your research before spouting shit!

      @PinguGirley 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      KellyLouiseBlogs gcses have changed DRAMATICALLY since 8 years ago, her grades would not get her into 6th form A* in personality is not going to get you into university stop trying to justify her grades by saying she has a good personality cause everyone knows she did badly don't sugar coat it

    • @georgiaxleigh
      @georgiaxleigh 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      PinguGirley her grades actually would get her into sixth form. I go to an "OFSTED outstanding" sixth form and you need 5 A*-C grades to qualify so..

      +poppyelizabeth she has a fixed mind set to science so hasn't really tried her hardest has she? All well and good saying you've tried your hardest when you have actually put 100% in 😂 don't kid your yourself into thinking underachieving is okay

    • @cubixdani3347
      @cubixdani3347 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, It's not like her grades will affect us, and by saying "You tried your hardest" (Which, Poppy didn't, so unsure why you brought it up here) It's just that support. It's her fault if she didn't try to the best of her ability,
      but just them common terms can help someone, i suppose.

    I dropped out of school in Year 9 due to bullying, I never got the chance to take any exams, meaning I got no GCSE'S
    But now I'm on my way to studying Mental Health Nursing at University! It just proves that GCSE'S don't always mean everything, you can go on without them, it just means you have to work a little harder to get to where you want to be! If you're determined, you can do anything :-)

      @oxmandem 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Phoebs, I know you posted this 2 year ago but just read your comment and I was in a situation which was kinda the same as you, and I ended up with no GCSE's either. I just wondered did you take your GCSE's later? as guessing for uni you would need too? I actually want to do something in the mental health/addiction field myself but its knowing where to get started plus my confidence has been rubbish in regards to like academic stuff as I have no GCSE's and I am in my 20's so been a while since studied etc. As it been 2 years since your comment are you still at uni? I hope whatever you are doing life is treating you well. Its nice to know I am not the only one out there without GCSE's and to hear that they arnt the be all and end all of everything. x

      @@morganxx5965 I defo think your right, of course tho if i could go back and change things so i left with some gcses i would but i think people who do leave without them should be shown other options and to know that you can still do well in life without them as for me when i left without them I felt shit and unmotivated as at the time i didnt no about other options etc i just thought as i didnt have any i couldnt ever do that well job wise.. do u have gcses ? when i was a support worker for instance, cause i didnt have gcses i just had to take an english and maths test there just so they could see i have good enough english and maths knowledge for the job. plus along side the job we studied for qualifications , plus am qualified fitness instructor as done an apprentership and again didnt needs gcses studied while working at the gym doin basic stuff til i qualified so like u said it isnt the be all and end all. :)

      @mohammedyahya8012 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      they matter just until you get to college tbh and after that jobs might ask what you got in maths and English

    • @jemmabrankling7464
      @jemmabrankling7464 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In all honesty, gcses aren't actually that important. You only really need a C in both maths and English to get a job and to even get into uni. The only place that really looks into your gcse results are colleges and sixth forms.

    • @hanx8072
      @hanx8072 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Mohammed Yahya lots of good unis, ask for a B and above for maths and English for allot of courses. They do matter for allot of people.

    • @hanx8072
      @hanx8072 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +Jemma Brankling that's for mediocre universities. Most good unis want b and above in maths and English for lots of the courses. Saffron mustve tried had but it's no secret that she isn't bothered than most 16 year olds in the uk because she has stated that she has no interest in furthering her education anymore. Mainly due to the fact that she wants to continue her TH-cam job. An opportunity that many teens don't have. So yes GCSEs do matter

    • @CaitlinCassidy1998
      @CaitlinCassidy1998 8 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      No they don't define your future. GCSE's are a stepping stone to other things, if you do badly in them it is not the end there are loads of other options.

    • @gracea2814
      @gracea2814 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      They don't define it because you can get into college still if you pass maths and English but you don't have to still take them after and you can do different courses depending on grades and you can retake maths and English

    • @KellyLouiseYeahx
      @KellyLouiseYeahx 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      My brother didn't get many GCSEs, he now earns more than me (who has a degree) and both my parents who are teachers, GCSEs definitely do not define your future!

    • @CaitlinCassidy1998
      @CaitlinCassidy1998 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Daniel Nik Maybe just maybe, not everyone wants to earn 50000 a year? Also I didn't say that they aren't important because they are, I am just saying that they do not define you, personality traits such as enthusiasm, team work and organisation skills will get you way further in life than GCSE's, these are the sort of skills that employers require and that's how people can gain experience. And what I mean by options are things such as BTEC'S, Diploma's, Apprenticeships, these can help people to gain great jobs. GCSE's and A Levels are not for everyone. (P.S, sort out your grammar and spelling in your first comment, then maybe I'll give ya some job options lol)

    • @Becksnnc
      @Becksnnc 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's not defining your future though. If you fail at an exam that you needed a high grade for you have the option to retake and there are also alternative options to get the life/career you want without having to attend college or Uni. I know one person that didn't get what they needed to go to Uni but they let them go anyway. I hate that a lot of young people think that GCSEs are the be all end all of life. It's not true. Schools just say pressuring stuff like that to make you work hard so you get good marks that reflects well on the school.

      BTECs are good depending on the course. BTEC is great if you're studying a subject like engineering or computer science. Unfortunately, the BTEC qualification is weighed down due to stupid soft subjects such as hairdressing and makeup. The qualification is equivalent to A Levels from a certification standpoint but from an effort standpoint, I can see why people find A Levels harder.

    I'm sat here reading through these comments.. I actually cannot believe how stupid and rude people are. "How are you happy with those results?" I can't wait until the people commenting such things realise that there is more to life than good grades. Also, grades aren't anything. If you are going to judge other people on their results or even criticise her parents, you are the ones who are less intelligent. I can't believe how shallow some of the comments are on here. No-one is going to employ a person without a personality, no one is going to accept someone into university with no personality or passion. So seriously, get over yourselves, you are NO-ONE to judge.

    The amount of hate towards Saffron on this video is ridiculous. Some people are naturally academic and do really well in exams. Others don't do so well. Everyone has different abilities. But, if Saffron's personal targets were those grades, and she achieved them, then she should be happy with them and you should be happy for her. Everyone has their own expectations of themselves and when you achieve a goal/target that you've set then that's great too. People saying these results are ' shit' are very narrow minded and some letters on a piece of paper don't define you. Well done saff, proud of you xo

    • @gyanismirh3416

      I agree with most of what you said except the naturally academic part there is no such thing as naturally academic there are simply people who know how to study effectively and those who don't. If she worked hard and got those grades then good for her . She knows the work she put in . If she did work her ass off and got c's that's as good as it gets.

      +Louis Cash but what course did they do? It depends on the course. Oh and see if you can get into Oxford doing a btec or Cambridge. Btecs are not as respected as A-Levels are, A-Levels are much more difficult due to the amount of revision and studying that goes into it. You can't say they are technically the same when they are not in anyway the same. I understand coursework can be frustrating and a lot of work does go in but at the end of the day A-Levels are much much much more difficult.

    No, you best bloody worry if u get no GCSEs because what job can u get without any GCSEs

    • @matt526
      @matt526 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      You must be under 18 if you think that you'll never get a job without GCSEs lol. They literally mean nothing once you've gone to college. No employer cares about what you got in your GCSEs. They're purely to get in to college, but even if you fail you can still get in to college and just retake your GCSEs there.

    • @jackcooper3307
      @jackcooper3307 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Matthew Scott you're not smart are you? Without GCSE's you're not going to get on any decent college course in the country, regardless of your reluctant willingness to retake them 😂

    • @matt526
      @matt526 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jack Cooper Lol, you clearly aren't smart because you'd have noticed that I said "they literally mean nothing once you've gone to college". However, I agree my point stating if you fail you can still get in to college could have been worded a little better. By fail, I meant get below a 'C' grade. Obviously dependant on the course you're taking / college you're going to be attending, they may or may not allow you to retake exams etc... however I think it's safe to say that if you fail miserably in your GCSEs you're not really going to be cut out for anything too strenuous on the brain at college...

      My bro is earning 27 grand a year with zero GCSEs - I don't get how so many people fail to see that most GCSEs don't matter almost as soon as you get them. You can of course have personal goals, and everyone has a right to be happy or disappointed with their own results, but saying nobody else can get anywhere without x amount of x grade GCSEs is objectively false.
      Besides, if you're not interested in academia, and if you develop the skills for a particular trade you can do just about whatever you want.

    • @andrewmctaggart7935
      @andrewmctaggart7935 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So when you're older do you aspire to earn £27,000 a year, my dad is on £150,000 and without sounding like a snob. When I'm older and I've finished my private education which has given me great opportunities I want to earn money in the way he did. Work hard at school get good grades and then it eventually pays off when you get your degree and you land the job that you want

    Looking through the comments is disgusting. I got 2As 4Bs 2Cs and 3Ds ahaha yes 3 bloody Ds but do I care? No. Because I know where I went wrong and I never have to take them subjects again. I passed what I needed too and I aced what I was good at. I had enough to go onto higher education and got my English and maths. Just because people get different grades in different subjects doesn't mean they are stupid. It took me ages to figure out my best way to learn and I still didn't crack it before exams. People, grow up and show people respect. You might be a smart arse but get your head out from the clouds and take a look at reality please.

    people are so bloody rude on here. if saffron is proud of herself, let her be proud ! there's nothing to be ashamed of if she tried her best. my parents both failed their gcses but are high school teachers earning 38k a year, each, showing gcses don't determine everything and there are other options if you don't get into the greatest college to do your a levels. i'm receiving my results tomorrow, if i don't get 5 a*-c to get into my first college i'll go to another one, simple. remember, not everybody is the same, not everybody lives the same life and her parents can be proud of her because saff bloody well earned these results for putting in the effort she says she did! just because you might be asian and your parents would kill you if you got her results (this is all i'm seeing in the comment section) doesn't mean anything! you obviously live different lives, let saffron be.

  • @ellynskeates2936
    @ellynskeates2936 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Honestly high school is sooooo irrelevant! Once you become an adult you'll be aware of this. You can do anything you want in life regardless of high school. I skipped school in my last year, so I didn't do well in exams & now I'm doing my bachelor of business degree in finance then later taking my masters in finance to be able to be a fund manager, financial advisor/ wolf of Wall Street, and you know what... It would've been so much easier if I just became a lawyer 😂😂😂 anyway don't dwell on school exams & focus on the bigger picture & what you want to accomplish in life. 😊👌🏻
