I've had my GCSEs for years and never used them!! Colleges don't really care and work places prefer experience over education. You only need amazing results for A Level. I mean I got C in everything and I'm in a full time job earning a great amount. Exam results aren't everything but congrats on the ones you passed 💓

Lucyx _xx my advice to you after I've jut collected mine is don't stress yourself out . Work you hardest in subjects that you are weaker you have still got a while till you sit them but if u have the opportunity to do extra lessons with teachers take them as they honestly do help . But just try your hardest and what ever happens happens but don't stress yourself out
Congratulations!! I wish our school did dance sigh it seems so cool. I got 1 A*, 4 A's, 3 B's, and 3 C's, but hopefully it will change after 2 remarks! Legit the last question, the 40 mark one, in English Language and literature is when you have to either write a description of a picture given to you on the question or a phrase given to you, and then the other test is a story that you have to do the same in lol
It doesn't matter what grades you get,they don't determine who you are or how clever you are,it's what you do with those grades that count,just use this as a base to strive to achieve greatness

FreyaC woah you chose you options quite late🤔 I chose mine at the end of year 8 and I'm going into year 10 in September. Some of my close friends do drama and they really enjoy it! At the end of the day you do what you want to do🤷🏾 Idk if other secondary schools in the UK do this but we had the choice to change any of our options in the first month of year 9. I wasn't really enjoying citizenship so I quit that and went onto do P.E Vocational. And yep I have p.e 4 times a week 🙄😴😂
I take drama GCSE and it can be quite stressful but it's one of those subjects that if you do the work it's really hard to fail just as long as you do the work

Don't worry about English I got a grade 7 in maths I got a grade 3 in English language and I was 6 marks off! English was the hardest and I hope you do well when you resit.
You won't like this but for the first 6 months revise at least 30+ minutes a week or just go over the stuff you have learnt. Trust me this would help you a lot since you wouldn't have to revise as hard if you didn't do that. During the month before my first exam, I literally revised 3+ hours a day at home every day, including weekends, just so I could get a good grade. It paid off in the end as I got mostly As and A*s but it was frustrating
I'm going into Yr 13 and so I've already done my GCSEs. I was among the last Year Group to do the original GCSES (so no 9-1 grades). Having got 10 A*s, 1 A** in Further maths and 2As, I was one of the best performing students at my school and I can give you some advice on how to nail the exams. As mini dwarfdude has already mentioned, revision is quite key to doing well at gcse as you need to know the content for the exams pretty thoroughly for most subjects. However revision itself isn't going to get you the top grades and I for one could have actually done a bit more revision as I often procrastinated. The key is doing past papers again and again and really getting to understand the content and be able to apply it in any situation within the time limit - the GCSEs are supposed to be getting harder apparently so they will test for a lot more knowledge application rather than just the recall of specification contenet. Anyway, start to revise early and keep doing past practice papers and you will see results! It does get a bit monotonous and tedious but you need to keep going especially through the actual exam period as it all pays off at the end.
My GCSEs r next year I want to get all bs and as and maybe a few cs (like for business and German my bad subjects) but other thank that I want to get at least b for everything but currently I’m getting a lot of cs And failing a lot of subjects I wan get my grades back up😭😭😭
Tbh when teachers say GCSE is the most important thing it's not if you don't get many it really doesn't matter. It doesn't mean your never gonna get a job my sisters friend failed so many but she started low in college and a couple year later she has a great job with great money ❤️

In my school you can choose to come back a couple of weeks after all of the GCSE's have been finished for half a day and take your ECDL's but it isn't classed as a GCSE in my school however it is put on your records for college, uni and jobs for in the future x

Wouldn't worry too much, I got pretty similar grades and now at uni. I had to retake my maths GCSE which I retook at college, I've never revised for something so hard in my life and it was an incredible feeling to know I passed. Good luck with the future, focus on what you're passionate about and let your true talents shine through, just stay focused and you'll get there.
Melissa Campbell they're GCSEs, every one at the end of year 11 takes them, so 15 and 16 year olds, they then determined what courses you can take at college. And some people after doing 2 years at college will move onto university for higher skilled jobs such as a doctor, vets, lawyers etc and others will go out and get a job. Hope this helps!
Melissa Campbell Take a seat this might take a while (I'm Irish but I live in England so it was a change for me) BASICALLY in the U.K. You start secondary school (high school) at 11 (it's called year 7 but in America it's 6th grade) right after finish primary school (elementary// no middle school) In secondary school (high school) there's year 7 - year 11 ( 11 years old to 16 years old with year 11 being 10th grade in the us) At the end of year 11 you take GCSE EXAMS for all your chosen subjects (you have core and chosen, everyone does core (English maths science) and your chosen you choose in year 9 (8th grade) e.g. I chose business and German so I will get qualifications for those) These are NOT SATS (I think you take those at 12th grade to get a diploma meant while here they're pronounced sat-ssss not S.A.T as they're taken at the end of year 6 (5th grade) to basically see how smart you are) These GCSEs (general certificates of secondary education) allow you to go to college. Now college here is NOT college in America - that we call university. College is year 12 & 13 (11 & 12 grade) where you pick 3 -4 subjects you're interested in to get A LEVELS (which is equivalent to SATs I think) A LEVELS are results that allow you to go to university (college in America) you take them at 17/18. Confusing? Yes. But I don't even know how I know the Irish, American & British school system (probably Canadian too they just say grade 12 not 12th grade or seniors) GCSES allow you to take courses in college to go to uni they are kind of a big deal. Ps BRITISH DONT COME FOR ME I DID A BASIC VERSION DONT START WITH APPRENTICESHIPS AND BTEC AND ALL THAT
Melissa Campbell Basically, in the U.K. every year, 15-16 year old take a number of exams that determine what they are allowed to do in college. For example, you can't do Art in college if you didn't pass it in the exams so it is pretty scary. And it is one of the biggest exams for 15-16 year olds ever so yeah. And they are marked from an A* (which is basically an a+) all the way to like an F. But this year they are marked from 9-1 which 9 being an A* and 1 being like and F or an E. And also since they are testing out this system, is a mix of the number system and they letter system ❤️ But yeah they are just massive exams that take you further in your education like SAT's.

GCSE's are not always the be all and end all! I just about scraped through mine, as well as my BTEC college course and now I'm in my 3rd year of university! If you really want something, you can achieve it! Well done! 🎉🎈

The key is doing past papers again and again and really getting to understand the content and be able to apply it in any situation within the time limit - the GCSEs are supposed to be getting harder apparently so they will test for a lot more knowledge application rather than just the recall of specification contenet. Anyway, start to revise early and keep doing past practice papers and you will see results! It does get a bit monotonous and tedious but you need to keep going especially through the actual exam period as it all pays off at the end.

Tbh when teachers say GCSE is the most important thing it's not if you don't get many it really doesn't matter. It doesn't mean your never gonna get a job my sisters friend failed so many but she started low in college and a couple year later she has a great job with great money ❤️

In my school you can choose to come back a couple of weeks after all of the GCSE's have been finished for half a day and take your ECDL's but it isn't classed as a GCSE in my school however it is put on your records for college, uni and jobs for in the future x

A distinction* is not an A*. They aren't equivalent otherwise they wouldn't be graded differently and furthermore btecs are easier

Wouldn't worry too much, I got pretty similar grades and now at uni. I had to retake my maths GCSE which I retook at college, I've never revised for something so hard in my life and it was an incredible feeling to know I passed. Good luck with the future, focus on what you're passionate about and let your true talents shine through, just stay focused and you'll get there.

Melissa Campbell they're GCSEs, every one at the end of year 11 takes them, so 15 and 16 year olds, they then determined what courses you can take at college. And some people after doing 2 years at college will move onto university for higher skilled jobs such as a doctor, vets, lawyers etc and others will go out and get a job. Hope this helps!

Take a seat this might take a while (I'm Irish but I live in England so it was a change for me) BASICALLY in the U.K. You start secondary school (high school) at 11 (it's called year 7 but in America it's 6th grade) right after finish primary school
(elementary// no middle school)
In secondary school (high school) there's year 7 - year 11 ( 11 years old to 16 years old with year 11 being 10th grade in the us) At the end of year 11 you take GCSE EXAMS for all your chosen subjects
(you have core and chosen, everyone does core (English maths science) and your chosen you choose in year 9 (8th grade) e.g. I chose business and German so I will get qualifications for those)
These are NOT SATS (I think you take those at 12th grade to get a diploma meant while here they're pronounced sat-ssss not S.A.T as they're taken at the end of year 6 (5th grade) to basically see how smart you are)
These GCSEs (general certificates of secondary education) allow you to go to college. Now college here is NOT college in America - that we call university. College is year 12 & 13 (11 & 12 grade) where you pick 3 -4 subjects you're interested in to get A LEVELS (which is equivalent to SATs I think) A LEVELS are results that allow you to go to university (college in America) you take them at 17/18.
Confusing? Yes. But I don't even know how I know the Irish, American & British school system (probably Canadian too they just say grade 12 not 12th grade or seniors)
GCSES allow you to take courses in college to go to uni they are kind of a big deal.

Melissa Campbell Basically, in the U.K. every year, 15-16 year old take a number of exams that determine what they are allowed to do in college. For example, you can't do Art in college if you didn't pass it in the exams so it is pretty scary. And it is one of the biggest exams for 15-16 year olds ever so yeah. And they are marked from an A* (which is basically an a+) all the way to like an F. But this year they are marked from 9-1 which 9 being an A* and 1 being like and F or an E. And also since they are testing out this system, is a mix of the number system and they letter system ❤️ But yeah they are just massive exams that take you further in your education like SAT's.

Also congrats on your exams! I'm from Ireland and did my leaving cert (final state exams before uni) I was predicted completely different results to what I got unfortunately! I'm not happy with my results but it just shows not all of us can show our best abilities through exams.

I don't know how GCSE's work, and why some people are sad because they needed some grade for a university? (I'm from America)
TrueWonders45 it's not like america where u do seperate tests for university it's like australia as well you do a test at the end of high school and getting into certain universities depend on how well you do
