  • I dedicated this past year of my life to getting out of debt that I had been carrying for a decade. It feels great having that pressure off my back but there was definitely some sacrifice that played into my success. After reviewing my budget and spending habits, I decided to stop spending money on these 9 things. And to be honest with you, I don’t miss them at all. Let me know what things you’ve cut out of your budget that you didn’t really end up missing from your life!

Hello my dear friend.. I am from Greece (i am an old friend if yours) and we think that these kind if things as s luxury for the previlege ones...I was always wondering how a foreign spends 10$ for a coffee or have his car wash for 20$.. i work in a hospital and my daily income is about 30$.. i know that the prices are a little bit different..but my friends listen to me : you don't need all these things..they make you think that this kind of stuff is a necessity for you.. you can do better...and as i always say the most valuable things in life are those that can't be bought with money..
    Love you all..

Agree I don’t wear any makeup, never did. I don’t color my hair, no manny/pedis, paid off my mortgage before my son graduated high school. Don’t buy new clothes every year, I have plenty, I just buy needed essentials. Still have Amazon prime for free shipping but only what I need and I like some of the shows and movies. I wash my own car and I live in expensive San Diego and my yearly budget is WAY below others. I don’t need to upgrade my kitchen tile to granite it’s just not important to me. I spend money only on what I enjoy some concerts and shows. My biggest monthly expense is food and I don’t eat out! Americans waste so much on keeping up with the Jones. I buy used cars and refurbished computers. The best thing you ever did was NOT buy that timeshare a complete waste of money just pay for your vacations when you go. Good luck and keep it up.

Wow, paid off mortgage now that’s inspiring! I couldn’t agree more, keeping up with the Jones is the worst trap to get into.

It's been awhile since I watched your vlogs, but I LOVE THIS NEW SIDE OF YOU!!!! Sometimes God takes us from the dull & daily grind of what we think is "normal". But I love what He is doing with you. I use to be a single mom 17 years ago , wish I had these new vlogs (saving money ones) to encourage me to be a better steward of my money. God's timing is always perfect regardless, cuz I know you're going to do amazing things to encourage moms who are trying to do for their children financially. Whatever God did to take you here, is truly a blessing for us viewers. P.S. I'm 50 years old and I use the same lotion but now I use straight cocoa butter, and two things to slow down age : ice and cucumbers!!! Been eating cucumbers since a kid, I look in my thirties, praise God, and rubbing ice on my ice tightens and smooths out wrinkles. God bless you Miss Kaitlin, keep putting out those saving money vlogs!!! 🙏🏼😊

Filling my grocery cart with cucumbers right now🤣 thank you for the encouragement! It’s been an interesting year for me and I truly believe you are right about Gods timing. I felt that He push me toward certain content that I needed at the time where I was my most stressed and didn’t even know why. Now looking back, it’s obvious that the stress was not from the challenges with autism or being a single mom, but from not having financial security. I have job security but not financial security and that was a huge lesson for me.

I buy only basic make up on sale, no hairdresser or manicure.
Never used expensive creams, I only use coconut oil and 50SPF sunscreen and my skin is great, everyone asks what I use and no one thinks I'm 40.
I cut my own hair for 20 years, my son as well.
Mostly thrifted clothes for 20 years. For my kid as well.
I use Netflix on 1 screen for our household, it's 8$ in Poland, I can safely give it to my son, I wouldn't do that with anything with ads. I watch it when he doesn't use it and I watch some free websites.

Thrift store shopping is the best, especially if the store does an additional discount on specific color tags. If there is something I'm wanting I'll browse thrift stores for a few weeks to see if something pop -ups before I look for it new and/or decide it wasn't a major want.

My husband and I have done the snowball method and are officially down to just our mortgage. Our main big debt was student loans. Now putting everything towards the house. We also have stayed in our small starter home. We realized we do not need or want a big house. It’s just more to take care of. I do great clips haircuts, my hubby cuts his own hair and cheap makeup too. We have always given ourselves an allowance of a certain amount of cash a week.. it was 20 a week each forever, few years ago went up to 30 a week. That is our own personal, energy drink or Starbucks spending money. You are doing awesome!!

I have already cut out every area you mentioned except the Amazon Prime. I go back and forth with that. I don't order that much and I don't watch that many Prime videos but when I do, it's a nice option. I also cut my own hair and shop for clothes at the thrift store, in addition to inexpensive new clothes sources.

We don't have newer cars, newer technology, or newer or even kind of new phones. No apple devices here. We don't do concerts, rarely eat out (though my dad or mom, depending on the occasion buys use lunch out about 5 times a year and my dad buys us ((my mom, my 3 kids, and myself) dinner from McDonalds when we visit). We don't have much in the way of video games, no phones for any of the kids.

I agree with all that. It does seem like all the cut backs are on things for yourself and I get that. I go without a lot. Next week is my birthday and as much as I want a few new things I know myself and I will spend no money on myself. My 15 year old is growing like a weed. He just told me his boots hurt his feet and then we looked and they are 2 sizes too small. So I guess he gets new boots and I’m sure new pants because he’s getting so tall and on and on and on. You know how it goes. 😊😂
