An old friend recommended the book many years ago, she said it would be a great temporary escape and that I would understand some things she was trying to say better, but I never got to read it. Years went by and we parted ways, and I came across the series and the name seemed familiar but I didn't connect the dots til way later in the series.. I finally understood what she was trying to say, and it breaks my heart not being able to tell her that I do. If the future is indeed written then I hope it holds another meeting for us. "how careful we would be if we knew which goodbye is our last".
I just realized that this soundtrack might represent life's circle. The soft melody at the beginning is birth, a new child coming to the world, amazed by everything surrounding it, like a seed falling on the earth. The part with the drums is childhood, the adventure that is growing up and the innocent energy of the child, when the seed grows into a bud. When the drums come to a halt is the teenage years, where the youngster is paying more attention to the world and establishing their own view, like a bud that has began to flower. The peak of the soundtrack when we hear the violins and the drum is the early adulthood, around the twenties and thirties, when the youngster is at the peak of his own life, more matured, more experienced and independent, with more than enough energy to build its own legacy. By this point, the bud has become a beautiful flower, that's spreading seeds of their own. When the melody calms again with the sound of the flute we have reached late adulthood (fourties, fifties and early sixties), when the person has had many experiences and tries to make sense of them all, gaining wisdom. By this point, the bloom is seeing the buds it planted flowering, while its splendour turns less vigorous due to aging. When the melody starts dying out at the sound of violins and that soft voice we've reached old age, when the person has found some rest after experiencing an intense life, and the flower starts losing its petals. When the music stabilizes and ends softly at the sound of a rather dark, sad but peaceful and strangely glorious melody of violoncels there's death. The plant has finally reached its end and turned to dust.
Well i must say that your comment is beautiful. The way you have elaborated it says a lot about your personality. The clarity and articulation in your thoughts is astounding. I wonder why you haven't got any replies back on this comment. Maybe because people aren't just patient enough to read through it. I wish you all the success in the world.
This makes me cry every time I hear it. So hauntingly beautiful. The Outlander story and musical score touches your very soul. All revolving around magical Scotland and it's rich culture and history, a wonderful combination.
You are so right! I've read every book she wrote in the OUTLANDER Series and cannot WAIT for the next one to come out. I've got each OUTLANDER Season tape and buy the newest as soon as I see them! I'm absolutely in love with this Series and, like you said, this song is simply breathtaking...heart touching! It's touched my heart and opened a deep desire to go to Scotland! My mother, brother and I are actually planning a trip to Scotland in 2 years. I am so excited! We all are! We'll finally be able to visit the country of our forefathers.
Powerful, enchanting, alluring, transcendental, hauntingly beautiful, intoxicating, heavenly, phenomenal, magical, breath taking, longing, soul calling, ancestral, chills, tears, etc. It sings to the depths of my soul like an ancient calling to my spirit. Not enough words to truly describe the experience of where and when this music takes me to and how it makes me feel.
It makes you long for a pure life, with love, passion, respect, and grace...it makes you travel to another dimension where you can touch all that you are longing for, with no fear at all, only marvelous light...a perfect dream!!
My Father is from Scotland, my great grandma was a Highlander..Clan Mackay. I enjoy visiting family in Scotland and I LOVE the Highlands very much ❤ Hoping to go back this Summer
As someone of Scottish and Irish descent and who has heard the call to arms military bagpipes all my life. Leaving Canada and going to Ireland and Scotland brought me back to the pagan path and made me realize where my home is. I’m currently going through school so I can benefit my future country. I’m going home the right way. It is a call to return home and to the old ways.
I'm of Scottish and Irish descent, as well. I want so badly to go see Scotland with my own eyes. My mom hasn't been able to but I've seen pictures. It's not enough. I just.. I know I belong there. So I feel you, friend.
my family and i were born and raised in the United States, but I’m a descendant of both Clan Maclean (fathers side) and Clan Anderson (mother’s side), and though I wasn’t born or raised in Scotland, I️ feel it call to me everyday. Ever since i was a little girl I️ have longed to go to the highlands, as if I’ve felt the land and the souls of my ancestors calling me home. I’ve felt it in every bone in my body, and one day, I️ will finally be able to see where my heart belongs, and experience the culture of all of my family members before me. I’ll find you someday 🏴❤️🔥
That is a touching story but sometimes real life isn't as romantic as a netflix series! Hope you manage to reach your desired homelands someday! But most of the times our home is found in our heart and brain. Locations are alongside with memories! Maybe it's the memories that make you feel the nostalgy ! Good luck finding your way ! Don't forget your real compass! Your heart!

Lovely Thy countenance, Thou beauteous Beam.
My mother told me how her grandpa would see fairies dancing in the dusk as he was going to work on feelds. I was maybe 4 or 5 when she told me that. Something in me just lit, and every time I hear this song, I just know where I belong.
It's the combination of the mystical tune and the ancient rhythms resonating our souls that makes us feel so :) Drums, no matter ancient, shamanic or modern, usually affect us because its sound reminds us the heartbeat of our mother when we were in her womb ❤️
I was leaving my work, feeling exhausted and worried about my upcoming quiz tomorrow. I listened to this in my car. I swear, guys, the deep bass drums sent chills to my spine. What a great wake up call to face the rest of the day. It's totally different from listening to this song from my computer. Please listen in your car. I recommend heightening the bass level, if you haven't already.
Guuuurl...you are not kidding! I listened to this on my son's gaming, super stereo headphones. When the bass of the drums kicked in...it was like an electrical liquid charge, running down the length of my spine! It started right at the crown of my skull, then bamm...all the hairs on my arms stood right up...absofreakin' exhilarating!! Some things need not be explained....
I do not understand your question but...from my experience of listening to this song, it just resonated audibly at an aesthetic level. I do not know if you are familiar with the different range of brain waves when listening to specific types of music. My son's headphones are top of the line stereo amplified and allowed me to hear the fine detailing of all the instruments playing, and the pitch of the singer's voices literally made my hair stand up and gave me goosebumps! I would say that my brain was in an enhanced Alpha state: 7.5-14 HZ, which is the deep relaxation wave. I had a floating cloud sensation, the music went through me like a drug! To simplify what I am saying, it was a complete rush...not all music can do that, but it is quite magical when you come across compositions that do touch your inner core.
This never gets old no matter how many times ive listened probably over a thousand in the year I discovered it. Thank you Bear McCready and Marcellus Wallace for bringing such wonderful music into my life.
This song is like the beauty of the sunrise made manifest... totally enchanting, beautiful, intoxicating, heavenly, and so much more. It brings tears to my eyes just listening to it, as well as a deep sense of calm and peace. Something that is definitely needed in today's world.
So I watched Outlander way to much, my 1 yr old granddaughter has fallen in love with the music. Dance of the Druids and The Sky boat song are her bedtime songs. I have to literally play SkyBoat all the time for her, she walks around singing Ohhhh, for over the sea to sky ❤❤
Being a Scottish descendant and proud of my family/clan. Ever since I was 6 I've had a deep root in the woods, ive never understood that bond or connection. For years ive heard and felt callings I now know my place. Becoming a druid and eventually going back home to Scotland.
Tactical Dad89 I love Scotland I wish I cud settle down there. The music, the landscape, the people, the culture , everything about it mesmerised me. I feel like I have left a piece of my soul there.. the highlands were breathtakingly beautiful and the people amazingly warm and simple. What a country .
My dad was roughly 80-85% Scots-British with a tiny bit of German-French.💙💕🍃I’m a classically trained soprano vocalist & cannot wait to learn this so I can sing for my bf. I’m *Clan Forbes/McKay* & he is *Clan McFarland* - God speed to all. This music is the closest I can think of to touching the hand of God.
3rd season started like a week ago and I'm already crying my eyes out because of both happiness and sadness. This show really is something different and damn, my life would've felt really dull without it. Anyone else I can cry with?
In the parts of Scotland, finally, the most fascinating love stories (Braveheart, Outlander) have been created on television, stemming from an honest and pure bravery of soul
Love the Outlander series ❤ In my opinion, one of the best series that has ever existed! The characters, the landscapes, especially those of Scotland, plus that beautiful mystical soundtrack 🥰👍 We're now awaiting season 7 and I'm excited for the Frasers' return to Scotland 🙂
God i love this song so much. Its just... speaking to my soul. I am from the balkans- highlander as well and this music... it touches every string in my body and makes me experience so many deep feeling- some of them buried, some new... it feels like hope. thank you from the bottom of my heart for this amazing mix. Aleksandra Sandra I hail from Cape Breton Island, Canada. The Scots migrated here in 17th to escape the English. They choose our island for it resembles their homeland. They lived and still do in the highlands. We have maintained our Scottish heritage, our clan tartans. We speak Gaelic and our Celtic music is known worldwide. I'm so proud of my Granny, her ancestors straight from the homeland. She would speak Gaelic when she was angry and loved to step dance
Nik Reed. Would love to find some simliar music as this is just so beautiful and addicting... Do you have any playlists or artists you could recommend? Thanks!!
I love the entire Outlander soundtrack but this right here is everything to me. I am a Black woman who had a Scottish & Irish maternal great grandmother and a Black & American Indian maternal great grandfather so I feel all of this up in my DNA
Ch4k- no- it’s in the dna…otherwise very few of us would feel this connection! Besides- it’s a human instinctual ancient thing in all of us…and this represents one of the ancient cultures which resonated with that link with natural world. It’s in all of us
For the first time in my adult life I am going to Scotland next year. If it has 1% of the beauty of this I will leave very happy. I just know I won't be disappointed...
Just amazing...

This music speaks to my soul, the drums seem to speak to me from a forgotten time, that I once lived, as it soothes me, it is familiar, but not, as I am a native Californian, but must have a Scottish soul.
This song is absolutelly amazing, it touches my soul in a way that makes me certain about my beliefs and roots to nature. Makes me wanna sing and dance in circles! :D
My ex girlfriend introduced me to this tv show and books... After we broke up i couldn't watch the show or read the books anymore, it all reminded me of her, and stills today xD such a great story we had thanks to Outlander.

Danke Internet!!! Langsam passt Du dich meinen Gehirnwellen an...!!
The music & song is soooo enchanting & captivating...as if it's calling us....to that faraway luvely place Scotland. Maybe they were inspired to make such a strong heart touch series Outlander and music n sound track is amazing. Listen to this with earphones ❤❤ Awesome

So true. Waiting!
You HAVE to belief she will come back to you - in one way or another, wish you well!! ❤

Nik Reed how touching 😙
Nik Reed. Would love to find some simliar music as this is just so beautiful and addicting... Do you have any playlists or artists you could recommend? Thanks!!

The things I feel when I listen to this song I cant describe. Its uplifting
what immediately comes to my mind is ancient celts offering their purest love to mother nature. brings me to tears
purest love to Mother Nature, very good feel for the music and culture
I love the entire Outlander soundtrack but this right here is everything to me. I am a Black woman who had a Scottish & Irish maternal great grandmother and a Black & American Indian maternal great grandfather so I feel all of this up in my DNA
I felt the same💖
@@Cha4k There is genetic memory too.
Ch4k- no- it’s in the dna…otherwise very few of us would feel this connection! Besides- it’s a human instinctual ancient thing in all of us…and this represents one of the ancient cultures which resonated with that link with natural world. It’s in all of us
SCOTLAND ! 💙

For the first time in my adult life I am going to Scotland next year. If it has 1% of the beauty of this I will leave very happy. I just know I won't be disappointed...
J'adore !!!
Just amazing...
This song and melody will travel through the eons, always and forever. It calls the heart and mind for something higher.
Floating around the Scottish Highlands while listening to this ... What a masterpiece

*Setting Sail:
Sing me a song of a lass that is gone
Say, could that lass be I?
Merry of soul she sailed on a day
Over the sea to Skye
Mull was astern, Rùm on the port,
Eigg on the starboard bow
Glory of youth glowed in her soul
Where is that glory now?
Sing me a song of a lass that is gone
Say, could that lass be I?
Merry of soul she sailed on a day
Over the sea to Skye
Give me again all that was there
Give me the sun that shone
Give me the eyes, give me the soul
Give me the lass that's gone
Sing me a song of a lass that is gone
Say, could that lass be I?
Merry of soul she sailed on a day
Over the sea to Skye
Billow and breeze, islands and seas
Mountains of rain and sun
All that was good, all that was fair
All that was me is gone
Sing me a song of a lass that is gone
Say, could that lass be I?
Merry of soul she sailed on a day
Over the sea to Skye
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
❤🌹
This music is so beautifully hypnotic.
This music is simply MAGICAL !! it even brings tears to my eyes. Thank you so, so, so much for posting it.
This music speaks to my soul, the drums seem to speak to me from a forgotten time, that I once lived, as it soothes me, it is familiar, but not, as I am a native Californian, but must have a Scottish soul.
Imagine you're living the same story as Claire, just imagine.
I'd skip some part of it, but Jamie is a treasure, surely.... ❤️
Many times already 😂
My "husband" look like "Jamie" on bad and good side😅
Thank Outlander
I was blind before🤭

The melody takes you away with headphones on

A bon fire would do in case you can't find that rock you looking for
I hope Scottish culture will be as loved as well known as it once was

This is a peace of Heaven you can almost feel the presence of Angels in the music
I might need to watch the series based on the music alone.
Danke Internet!!! Langsam passt Du dich meinen Gehirnwellen an...!!
it does call to our ancient inner core
