there's this new invention called soap that allows you to clean items like this, also you use it as a mouse trap only after you grate cheese with it to give it a cheese smell for the mice.
I Like your magnet solution! What I curious in the Patent 0:54 it seems the slicer is standing up with 3 legs, and by this the door is closed by the gravity and the mice wieght if it standing on. Could you try it?
You could modify this into a self-emptying trap: 1. The mouse goes inside 2. Door shuts, mouse is trapped 3. Electrical motor stars spinning the cheese grater over 9000 RPM 4. Mouse gets shredded, and tiny bits of the mouse fly out through the holes. 5. Wild animals get to enjoy shredded mouse minced meat. 6. Trap is now empty again. 7. Repeat
I love how thoroughly you search for these obscure mousetraps. I never would have thought there could be hundreds of mousetrap designs until finding your channel.
Fine example of we have been trying to make a mouse mouse trap since the beginning of time. I look forward every Monday to watch what you have next. Thanks Shawn for sharing.
I'm sure there are plenty of dirty slobs out there who wouldn't have an issue at all grating cheese and catching mice with the very same device. The inventor was possibly one of them.
The real question is, why would you automatically not have a mouse problem when you want cheese? Is it really common to have A mouse, singular? Cause otherwise you just don't have a cheese grater for awhile. What an idiotic design
Would this trap work, sans-magnets, if set up vertically, with mice entering from the bottom? I wouldn't think the mouse could escape too well once it got inside, at least without another one trying to enter. Have the bait dangle on a string inside, higher up, so the mouse has to really climb in to get it. Then I don't think the mouse would open it - though it likely could.
I do not know how old the cheese grater is but I remember as a kid born in 1966 we had one here in London, UK. As a mousetrap design though it is er, full of holes.
If you made the mesh screen door wider so the mouse cant go around the door Make the screen like a half circle so it touches all corners in order to prevent the mouse from manipulating the door with its nose no need for magnets
So ... a combination food container, grater, slicer, mouse trap, and fly trap. I don’t know if that’s brilliant or insane. I’m leaning toward “insane.” But if you keep going in the same direction, eventually you’ll have just one implement in your house, and it will do everything. “Over there’s my combination grater, mousetrap, rice cooker, radio, clothes drier, lawnmower, water heater, and bathtub.”
I designed a mouse trap that uses an infrared sensor combined with a 12 gauge shotgun shell. Do you think that is a sufficient caliber or should i go with a 10 gauge? :-)
you don't know ow the screen was put on, with what kind of tension, based on what I see, there are no details of the inside design. Maybe there was a spring on the door? or the screen when to the bottom and was fastened in such a way, that wasn't on a hinge. ??
The patent shows the trap being used vertically, and I think it would work better if it was. I think the mouse wound be standing on the trapdoor if he tried to lift it, and he wouldn't be able to if he was standing on it maybe?
00:44 this will be made in 2029, then in the year 2980 a traveler came back in time and left it in our time line which is why it looks old. So in short, it hasn't been made yet.
Now Shawn here's a little theory. The purpose of the cheese grater was to not only grate the cheese but the cheese will drop inside the mouse trap as pre made bait(due to the fact that mice or rats love cheese). It's not just a theory it's a mousetrap theory.
Great video 👍 one day I hope my videos are as entertaining. Short and to the point, but in all seriousness I could have watched that mouse run in and out over and over for at least 8 minutes.
Nice mod .. but it would have looked better had you used some "rare earth" magnets, which are incredibly small, yet extremely powerful. These are generally called Neodymium Magnets ... and even Walmart has some in their 'craft' area (which is where I got mine. They are about the size of a small "button cell battery" (watch battery). As for designing a multi-purpose trap, which could also be used for grating food (cheese) ... well, I know I wouldn't want my food around any container which held mice, which are constantly pooping/peeing. Haven't seen any new "Electronic shock traps" lately .. perhaps no new ones have been developed, but they seem good, except for the fact that you generally can't catch multiple vermin in them.

Your the best, you help me know which traps to buy and which ones not to buy, thank you :)

Hi Shawn, it would be the world if you would reply.😁
This is my favorite trap design. It's grate.

Shawn, this is all very well - but you didn't demonstrate using it as a cheese grater, and eating the cheese yourself.
Really, I’m surprised he didn’t, given some of the other things he’s tried. Is Shawn getting soft?
That would be a bit cheesy.
@@user-vw6xp5nl6t oh that's a terrible Dad joke!
@@markfryer9880 More of a Grandpa joke
Mark Fryer no, isn't, that was a grate joke.
Actually, the really really smart mice have learned to act like deer mice so Shawn will let them go.
Bug out your eyes for freedom is their battle cry.
I only use gourmet cheese that's been grated with a mouse trap and has a taint of urine and feces.
Ah, a projectile of culture I see
Talk about cultured cheese 😁
Pardon me, but is what is the grey poop on?

It's called "9 month gorgonzola" and it's actually delicious on pizza.
Whoever made this idea must have grated his brain
Fast forward a century or two, Apple Cheezegrater is invented.
Bet he thought he had a Grate Idea.
Ok, but has anyone invented a combination mouse grater/cheese trap?
Bet it makes a mess of the mice before you grate the cheese.

1:08 my face when I miss a Shawn Woods Video
It's simple, buy two or three: one for cheese grating, and the other two for trapping. Just remember which one is the grater.
*hey Shawn, what brand / model trail cams are you using ? Interested in buying one i really appreciate the quality*
ACME
I was thinking he used a brand called Exodus.
*why do you bold everything?*
"multi purpose"
Who even use cheese grater that have been used for mouse trap
Mmmm. What's that secret ingredient in moms mac and cheese?
I'm sure there are plenty of dirty slobs out there who wouldn't have an issue at all grating cheese and catching mice with the very same device. The inventor was possibly one of them.

just wash it out but still why
@n325aej yanks couldn't make the grater...too busy cousin fcukin
1:35- how do these mice jump like that?
They are quite small; and they have not quite kangarooish legs
Lock picking lawyer uses the magnets to open locks, Shawn uses them to keep the locks secure.
For all those times where you want to catch mice and grate cheese at the same time.
Maybe you should tag your "catch and release" rodents. Some of them are probably repeat customers.
This guy is so nice he shows bad fan art proudly. I am a subscriber from a long time ago and I'm never planning on leaving this channel.
The trap rolling really tripped me out
I like your way of improvement. Your the best!
The moment I see that loose door I knew it's a waste of time. Not for you Shawn, you are making great videos.
WAAAA! That was no deer mouse??? Where were it's antlers....?? 🙃☮️
I don't know, that one seems pretty GRATE to me!
Someone Actually Invented A Combination Cheese Grater/Mouse Trap ... a sentence I never thought I would read.
That is how Msoft earned money. Steal idea, make something useless, get patent, make multifunctional stuff. Profit.
This could work quite well if you replace the doorway with a spiked funnel.
I love your channel! I gotta admit I miss the longer videos these go by to quick.🙃
I wonder if a string trigger would be better and might allow for multiple captures each time trigger is activated
gotta love Friday afternoons with Shawn Woods and a cute little mouse :D

That could be a cool series on the channel. To feature failed mouse traps and watch you try to make them workable ones able to catch mouse :)
Well, you could use the grater function to set some cheese bait inside.
the new dishwasher, washer, dryer, smartfridge AND deer trap all in one
This probably failed as badly as the combination poop scoop and serving tray.
This will make an amazing housewarming gift🏴
👍 😂
If you made the mesh screen door wider so the mouse cant go around the door
Make the screen like a half circle so it touches all corners in order to prevent the mouse from manipulating the door with its nose no need for magnets
this the kind of cheese grater you use for serving cats?
hmmm i guess the only plus about it being a cheese grater is that the smell of the cheese would lure the mice in
This probably is the craziest patient you’ve shown besides the revolver, window/ rat trap
So ... a combination food container, grater, slicer, mouse trap, and fly trap. I don’t know if that’s brilliant or insane. I’m leaning toward “insane.”

I suspect the original would have had a spring loaded door in the product as sold. Patents rarely reflect the final product.
@Shawn Woods
When is the Mouse Trap Museum planned to up?
So everyone gonna ignore that the one mice did something cool? 1:25
The cheese grater mouse trap even has a shocked an appalled FACE! 😱
Haha...not a cheese grater we will be garnishing our pasta with any time soon! 😜

Wish you had shown placeing the stic thus setting the trap.
lol even the trap can't believe someone was crazy enough to make a grater/mousetrap combo.
:o
holey, I have never scrolled thru your vids or anything so fast, dont know what you did but excellent job. Keep up the great vids.
I'd buy one, if it cleans toilet as well.
ACME also made clothes wringers or mangles as we call them in England, I suspect your grater is 1940s possibly early 1950s.
I suppose cheese-grater that doubles as a trap in a pinch is cool. But It's gonna be a long time before I start using it as a grater again
Mice: Why is this big thing always putting weird things that always get us into trouble?
Thank you Shawn!
When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was going to grate the mice
At least it gets the job done with some modification.

Certainly a different era when this combination trap/grater thingie was proposed.
That's the craziest idea ever lol. Nothing like a good Swiss cheese with leptospirosis
Great video and a cool looking, but nasty idea for an old mouse trap, thanks Shawn!
does this guy have a review of the standerd snap trap out of curiosity?
Mice are far too smart for that invention without adaptation. 😂
The patent shows the trap being used vertically, and I think it would work better if it was. I think the mouse wound be standing on the trapdoor if he tried to lift it, and he wouldn't be able to if he was standing on it maybe?
How do you humanely dispatch the rats or Mouse
Combination Grocer’s Package, Cheese Grater, Slicer, Mouse and Fly Trap, patent 1897.
00:44 this will be made in 2029, then in the year 2980 a traveler came back in time and left it in our time line which is why it looks old. So in short, it hasn't been made yet.
You're so creative!You change the trap!😂😂😂
Cheezzzz u gotta be kidding me! What's next......a combo ice cube tray/noodle strainer??
Nice one , again....keep on, keep’in on....
Cheese goes well with anything.
A not so great idea, but definitely a great video. BTW your three-in-one trap score a few weeks ago was quite the victory.
It may not be great but it does grate.
You should start doing more fish traps
Thanks Shawn
Now Shawn here's a little theory. The purpose of the cheese grater was to not only grate the cheese but the cheese will drop inside the mouse trap as pre made bait(due to the fact that mice or rats love cheese). It's not just a theory it's a mousetrap theory.
Thanks Shawn, very interesting. 123 years ago, people had different standards, and I won't judge. Different times.
I’m at the cheese grater.
I’m at the mouse trap.
I’m at the combination cheese grater and mouse trap.
1:34 What is the hell was THAT all about? lol
Some random guy: My mouse problem is really starting to grate on my nerves.....hmmmm, I think I have an idea
Just guessing, but I think it's made for using as a mousetrap after it gets dull.
Cheese grater mousetrap: Bethesda bugged games.
Shawnwood: modder.
Adds flavor Shawn.
👍👍💜 Thank you Shawn again!😷
I would love for you to try out more traps for insects, like flies.
I think it would work without magnets, just by putting spikes on the bottom of that door
Great video 👍 one day I hope my videos are as entertaining. Short and to the point, but in all seriousness I could have watched that mouse run in and out over and over for at least 8 minutes.
I was worried that the idea for the trap would be to rapidly rotate it with the mouse inside, shredding it
you forgot to put the legs on the trap as in the drawing. standing upright the trap may work better.
I like the new outro!
