Very easy to understand!! I had this procedure done today in hospital and I am now home recovering. I am in perimenopause and had an ultrasound that showed a 1.1cm thickened endometrium, a polyp, a cyst that comes & goes, and fibroids. My ob/gyn also said that my cells were abnormal so that was the reason for the d&c, to remove the polyp. Last week Monday she did a biopsy of my uterus. I am praying for good results
@@SisterDizzy yes I did thank God!!! The colposcopy results were good, still waiting for the report on the d&c and polypectomy, but she said that she believes it should be fine.
Any update? They are not sure if I am perimenopause because gyno said that is not her area of expertise. But I was bleeding for 30 days, and have been told I need to get this test. 35 year old female fyi
Thank you. You answered a lot of my questions. I am having a D&C next week to find out the cause of my irregular and heavy periods while I have an IUD. While I am nervous, you helped out. I feel you explained things a bit better than my PA did. 💜
Just watched today this video after I had undergone this procedure 2 days ago.Thank God it went well.I was just nauseous for a few mins after I woke up from the anesthesia but didn't even need to take any pain reliever after. There was just spotting for 2 days but very minimal. Thanks for sharing this video.
Dear Heavenly Father, Please give her peace and rest tonight. I pray that you would cover her tomorrow with your protection and guide the hands of her surgical team. I pray against complications and pain. I pray that her surgery will go smoothly. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
Having this today. Recently finished colon cancer treatment. Now this procedure is to see if I have uterine cancer. This helps me better understand what to expect
Excellent explanation of the procedure and what to expect afterwards. I had this done 3 days ago for unexplained postmenopausal spotting. The doc removed a fibroid and some cysts around the cervix. I'm still experiencing crampyness but what most concerned me prior to watching the video was the bright red bleeding/sediment I'm still seeing when I urinate. I feel much better now that I understand that spotting/light bleeding is common and may last for up to 2 weeks when I have my follow-up appointment with my doc anyway. Thanks for sharing this important information.
@@Heykarmen No, I didn't. My procedure was on a Friday so I had the weekend to rest up. Doc recommended to take it easy - no sex or strenuous activity - for 7 days post procedure. Good luck!.
I am having a polypectomy and hysteroscopy on 9/26. Am scare not because of procedure but general anesthesia and i hv BP. Please put me in your prayers
Absolutely! Jesus please give her peace to know that you have everything under control and please bless the hands of her team that they would treat her with compassion and respect and I pray that they would treat her as they would treat their own sister or mother. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
I am having this in a week or 2. I have been having non stop bleeding for about 38 days now and doesn’t stop. On TXA now ferritin is low but hemoglobin seems to be ok. Is it safe to have this procedure done with the non stop bleeding? I’m afraid my bleeding can be even worse. Or that it can be done with the big amount of blood I’m bleeding
@@DrDuPontI have a fibroid that is in the cavity of my uterus hanging by a stalk into my vagina and the doctor recommended a d and c to remove . I just had a ufe done 4 days ago to reduce the bleeding. Can a d and c remove the fibroid within?
Thank you for the video. Im getting this done friday. I think they are using gas so they can see better in my uterus. Im really anxious about the surgery and not looking forward to feeling pain 😢
@@Heykarmen Hey, i had it done on a friday so i only took the Friday off and had the weekend to recover. it wasn't that bad. However i work from home and don't have to go into an office, so it will depend on how you feel. i wasn't too sore and could manage, just felt like i was on a bad period. so if you don't want to deal with people i would recomend taking monday tuesday as well ahha
Thank you for sharing your experience. Your symptoms should resolve in 1-2 days. Remember to take care of yourself and don't hesitate to seek medical advice if needed.
Hello, I’m having this procedure done next week and am feeling very anxious. Can you tell me is there any risk involved with having the fluid put into the uterus, what happens if too much fluid is put in? Will the fluid come back out or absorb into the body? Thank you for the video it is very informative.
Most of us use a fluid managment system that calculates how much fluid is infused and how much is recovered, most of the flluid will come out and a small amount will be absorbed. The procedure is stopped if the fluid deficit reaches a certain amont. The amount varies depending upon the fluid used. Fluid overload is a very rare complication (0.06% to 2%). Another rare complication is gas or air embolism. Speak to your gyn doctor about your concerns.
I had this done under GA 4 days ago. Simple procedure. They removed some polyps. I was told that I would have bleeding up to 10 days? Is this right? What happens if I bleed longer? Its like a very light period. Im 57 so Im post menopausal haven't had a period for over 3yrs.
Is it common to have this because the lining of my endometrium is thick?(14) I stopped having my period a little over a yr ago, & have "occasional spotting", not heavy bleeding at all, & I have mucus lately. So is this procedure truly necessary? What if on the day of my procedure the thickness went down, will they still take out the whole lining?
I signed the consent forms this am, unless my life depends on it I will still have my uterus after the procedure. But I'm in Canada and medical care is very limited.
Great question, there are many reasons for a thickened endometrial stripe (polyps, fibroids, scarring etc). If you are postmenopausal, we prefer the lining to be 4-6 mm thick. If your lining is thicker than this then your doctor will want to know why. Your entire endometrial lining is not removed with a D&C, only a biopsy is taken. In the US there will be 67,880 new cases of uterine cancer diagnosed this year so your doctor wants to make sure your uterus is healthy.

so far the anesthesia itself caused the biggest problem
I had it done today. It was pretty bad. Women should be numb for it, the pain is 6/10 and it causes trauma to the patients.

Yes, often the D&C will stop or reduce the bleeding. Keep taking your oral iron. I recommend Vitron-C.

Yes, spotting can happen anywhere from 1-3 weeks after the procedure. If the bleeding continues past this time let your doctor know.
I just had this done last Thursday. How long will I have this shrap pain?
Most patient's feel better within 7-10 days.
