Man, I don't know what it is about this animation, but it really takes me back to the old days of SFM (2014-2016) where animators were beginning to use SFM to explore more unique story ideas. I gotta say you knocked this one out of the park. Love your stuff man :)
Ooo I also adore them old days, they've always been a massive inspiration for everything I do in SFM! Really happy that this was able to bring some of those vibes ^^
I'm not going to lie, when I saw the video I was expecting a bitter ending. I'm glad I was wrong, because this peaceful approach to ending the trilogy was much better by far. I really liked the connection with the Wanderer, assuming it wasn't a simple cameo and it's actually connected in this universe, the environment telling the story was excellent, details and body language were also excellent. All in all just an excellent conclusion to the trilogy, great job Dominzki! It was a pleasure to watch the trilogy, good luck with your future projects!
I am speechless. The "Mission" trilogy is a masterpiece. Everything is outstanding from cinematography to storytelling to animation, and the attention to details (like the little drop of beer when she stops drinking). You really have an incredible talent! And it hurts me so much seeing how underrated you are
Too kind, brother! ^^ Though views can always be better I'm just happy I was able to complete this trilogy, and still have more ideas ready yet for more side stories in the same universe
Soldier banging his head against the wall in frustration because he knows he was probably too late is gonna live rent free in my head for the next month, I just know it. Amazing ability to convey the story almost completely visually. KUDOS

...After seeing what happened to the brave crew that ensured Project Phoenix succeeded, the opening gains a more uplifting feeling in hindsight. Claire wasn't the only one who gained a second chance through C-17. The rest of the Science Team and the Security Division did too, with their clones living in the camp C-17 created... And C-17 was seen hanging out with a Soldier, and Claire was close with a Soldier as well... Wether they were family, friends or lovers, is currently unknown.
That was simply beautiful. Not only is the story gripping with barely a hint of dialogue, it also recontextualizes a lot of the previous series, especially C17's first encounter with The Wanderer. Peak Cinema, and I wish I could one day reach your level.
This trilogy was such a great watch and so unique in the SFM scene, the animations are on point and the audio was great, loved every seconds of it but i can't believe how underrated it is tho... Keep up the good work pal!
No no no, you can’t do this to me. There is still so much to see and know about this world. You are criminally underrated this deserves a saxxton, if only they still made them.
No worries mate! I'm far from being done with this universe's stories. Right now an origins story to the giant robot "Titan" is being made, and it'll be the most battle-intense piece I've made yet. We'll also see more space stuff some day too, and if you check out the playlist "The Mission-series", you'll see what all is part of it and will be expanded upon. (For example plans exist for Bonkrunners 2.0, new "Breach"-title and more!) I am really glad to help out with this film. This was truly an amazing animation with a unique trilogy. You have outdone yourself my guy! Really great job!
never expected such a nice ending to this. the way i saw the rocket launching just made more sense to the origin of the whole thing. truly some good stuff 👍
This is simple beutiful, the animation, how you mastered showing to us what is happening without any word and the ending was really perfect for the history
Thank you so much! Even though this is the end of the main trilogy, this universe will one day see more new short films like The Wanderer. Eager to then show you all what I have planned :)
@@Dominzki I forgot to mention that we reviewed it, the review is out today on the Completely Machinima youtube channel. Congrats again, your storytelling skills are masterful. BW Tracy
Man, i really love your storytelling with little dialogue and mostly by ambient(reminds me of blade runner 2049) and that flashback part was so good and tense. It’s not something i often see in the tf2 animations here in youtube. I hope you make more sfm videos like this one or more side stories from this universe like the wanderer.
God dude, just amazing, Simply breathtaking. I know I’ve said this but I’ll say it again. Not even a hint of dialogue and you told so much. Just amazing, amazing all around! 👏👏👏👏😊
This, in my opinion, is a beautiful follow up to the Wanderer Short Film. This is a version of TF2 where the Red v. Blu war + Mann v. Machine War takes on a whole new meaning. In the end, War Is Bad. It leaves people broken, and it destroys everything around it. Also, I just like the name of the Video. "Mission: EXODUS." As a Christian, I know that Exodus is the second book in the Old Testament of the bible, and it's mainly about Israel's Exodus, or Exit, from Egypt. And the usage of Exodus in the video's title makes me think more of the word Exit. Mission: EXODUS could be changed into Mission: Exit. Simply, a beautiful video name. Lastly, at 1:47, I found the face our protagonist makes before she Jumps & Runs is quite funny.
Agreed! The name in this case quite literally references the retreat/exit of the cloning research and the possible last hope of humanity from Earth to space, continuing the work there until its eventual _Arrival_ to _Home_ ^^
This was really well animated! I especially liked soldiers animation as without using any words you could clearly see a range of emotions being portrayed. I'm still interested by the Phoenix industries ID cards. The Medic in this vid is a Red Medic but the one in Bonkrunners is Blu and has an ID card so I'm wondering where in the timeline Bonkrunners takes place (before or after the war). I'm also interested in when the other vids take place (crows nest/wanderer etc) Are you planning on still expanding on this universe or is Exodus the end? There's a lot of good stories you could tell here!
@@microsoftsam810 Exodus ties up the clones' main storyline, but there will be more side stories like The Wanderer, which will expand on exactly what you were wondering ;) The timeline can be quickly found from taking a look at the chronologically ordered The Mission-series playlist on my channel. The Crow's Nest is for example set around the time of ARRIVAL (both of which have references to each other), and The Wanderer happens between ARRIVAL and EXODUS. Bonkrunners' place in the timeline will be kept a secret so far until that story gets a new episode ^^
Did anyone else notice the connection to Bonkrunners. Her card saids Phoenix Industries and looks exactly the same as the card the bonkrunners steal in that sfm, but it couldn't possibly be... could it?
Dang you're right! The name on the card is dr. Mannfred too, but the Med is blu though while Claire and the Phoenix team here is on red. I wonder if there's espionage type of thing going
Amazing story man, I love the somber tone of it. But i do have some questions. Why did they have to launch the project to space? I thought it was because of high radioactivity but with the flashback and the crows nest side story it shows that the earth was still liveable. Was that the original plan but because they've been compromised they have to do it now? Also what happened to all the dna crates on the rocket? Would she continue the cloning experiments?
Sorry for the confusion! The story here basically is that C17 in present day goes to the bunker base where the cloning process originally began, which is before the apocalypse. She sees through recordings what happened almost a hundred years ago. There as we watch the space rocket fly, we see the nuclear war having started which the RED team's Phoenix Industries -division (name play with being born from the ashes) knew would eventually come, so they began researching cloning as a way to repopulate the Earth after such a war would have happened. Sending the project to an existing space station was the way to safeguard it from the nuclear war on the planet, but it should only be done once absolutely necessary since resources on the station are limited. The DNA crates hold tons of samples from the RED team workers, soldiers etc, so that once the cloning process has been perfected (like in Arrival) they can also be "reborn" again on Earth, like the real life Svalbard seed vault exists for the worst case scenario. So in essence this episode is both a sequel and a prequel at the same time :)
@Dominzki ah i see, it was almost a hundred years ago. I should've realized it by seeing all those skeletons, my bad. What about the crow's nest though? Is it present day or somewhere between in the timeline?
@vina6665 No problem! The chronological playlist of the series gives a quick look on the events order. The Crow's Nest is situated around the same time of ARRIVAL (referenced with the shot of the space ship coming down the atmosphere and the location of The Crow's Nest overlooking it) also in The Crow's Nest the BLU Soldier is trying to locate the approximate landing site of the rocket with the tablet and signal tower. The Wanderer then is situated between ARRIVAL and EXODUS because we see an early version of the clones' settlement being built in the end of Wanderer, and in EXODUS it's fully walled and proper buildings have been made. How many years there are between each event is left vague other than in HOME and ARRIVAL where you can see it in the alarm clock, and in EXODUS with Claire's notes ^^
@@Dominzki oh so the settlement is really of the clones of the phoenix division and the dna crates? I used to think it was just a community of survivors that was left on earth because it's hard to know whether they're clones or different individuals because of model limitation
sigo sin entender, ok, la guerra de la grava se extendió por años , pero eran clones de los mercenarios originales? y si es así que buscaban con este experimento concretamente si ya habían clones?
Pardon I don't speak Spanish, but in this alternative universe of the Gravel wars, each merc is an individual person and there is no cloning/respawning machines built at all. My use of the same merc models is just because of the lack of different models, which I've tried to recompensate with unique cosmetics on each and every character. If you watch the previous episodes "HOME" and "ARRIVAL", you'll get to know more about the reasoning for why they are researching cloning. Hint: it has something to do with the missiles flying around the Earth at 10:13 ;)
