People have asked me for clarity on why Calvary split and I have shared The board chose Brian and he split Calvary into two CGN vs CCA…. Your pastors will know more and please reach out to them…
I love my family and lived with both the Brodersen’s and my grandparents in my adult years and know this is a very difficult and sensitive subject. However, hopefully God will reach those who needed clarity and peace in this topic. Blessing

      Eh... Howzit 🤙🏽 Vanessa…
HUGE thank you for sharing this. I grew up at CCCM as a teen and I’m indebted to your grandfather (Papa Chuck and Mama Kay) for being in the ministry. This needed to be shared and disregard all the naysayers.
Praying for the whole Smith ohana…

Go see the vid by Brother Martyn - the division begins. I stopped going to 501(c)3: Church many years ago. By the way I got fed on the air waves many, many years by Chuck Smith, bless his memory, and visited once in California. He was a wonderful man of the love of YHWH. Judgement is upon the household of God.

I was a trucker traveling America with some boxes filled with Chuck Smith cassette tapes. There were times I had to pullover and stop my truck because I was broken and emotional and blessed. I’m forever grateful. I visited many Calvary fellowships across America. Best part of my week.

As a Calvary Pastor ….. first and foremost I will never leave the verse by verse, chapter by chapter that your grandfather so beautifully taught. I know that this hurts for you ….understandably …. however I want you to know that there are many holding the torch.

AMEN!! Anything OTHER chan chapter and verse, is bound to be New Age, as we have clearly seen. When the emotional is favored over the rational, you have The Great Deception. Chuck fought for YEARS to keep New Age out of Calvary, and now look... Chuck smartly kicked out Wimber, who then gave rise to Bill Johnson of Bethel and the biggest HERESY in modern history.

Brian's "church" sounds like an organization using worldly wisdom and wordly ways.
Chuck's church stayed faithful to the simplicity of the gospel of Jesus Christ and He was true to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Sometimes God allows these happenings to teach His people..His ways vs the world's ways.
It is clarity between the two.
      God is so good.
      Faithful and true.

I actually never, and I mean never, comment on any Social Media platforms, however, i had to make an exception as one of your subscribers. First, you are just so precious, honest, loving, gracious and kind. Second, I knew your Grandfather, Pastor Chuck who was not only my Pastor, but my Pastor's Pastor and listen to his teachings every day to this day as I have been for over 42+ years now. The purpose of my comment, which is from my personal channel and not my public Calvary Kaneohe channel, is to just encourage you, bless you and let you know that you are loved and appreciated by so many, not to mention the multitudes that are praying for you and your family of which I am one!!! I wandered into Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in early 1973. I sat, in awe, under the teaching of Pastor Chuck. Simple. Unhurried and unashamed of teaching all of God’s truth, from all 66 books. I was a wounded Vietnam Vet, angry, hurt, confused and lost. And for the very first time in my life, I heard God’s voice, calling me by name. I am forever grateful for Chuck’s teaching, his incredible, loving smile which illuminated his entire face. Chuck was an exceptional man, a faithful servant and a knowledgeable teacher. The virtual civil war within the CC movement has been painful to watch, but Chuck’s reach has traversed the globe, bringing countless thousands to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Thank you for the courage you displayed here by posting your honest observations.

It truly can be confusing especially for the new believer who may not have the discernment of knowing what the bible teaches on certain topics. Pastor David Rails says, As one of the young people who came on Sunday nights, and sat under Pastor Chuck's teaching. i will forever be grateful to Pastor Chuck Smith's loving spirit and his honest teaching style. He would lead us in singing worship and praise for 45 minutes or more, with no instruments, just the guys and the gals singing different parts. Hey Vanessa, I had removed my comments twice because simply put I have no dog in this fight as I'm Catholic and have not attended Calvary Chapel in years. I considered Brian Brodersen one of my best friends at one time. We worked together, as he once got me a job in Huntington Beach, roomed together and attended Church. I knew Brian because we attended the same high school. We never had a falling out but just went different ways in life where Brian married Cheryl when he was young, and I wasted lots of time doing foolish things before I finally got my heart right with the Lord. With that being said, even though I didn't always agree with your granddad on things theologically I always respected him. Even to this day when I listen to his past sermons it's clear Chuck Smith was gifted by God with passion and a purpose to bring the Word of God to many.
I was shocked to see that Brian aligned himself or was at the very least sympathetic to CRT, BLM, and spoke critically of Christians who thought the lockdowns were wrong. I highly doubt that your grandfather would have supported any of that. The riots, the lockdowns were devastating to this country and affected many people's lives and faith who have to this day still not recovered. I thought that it was astonishing to learn that Brian Brodersen aligned himself with BLM, the whole narrative of white privilege. This is not the guy I had once known. Brian Brodersen has clearly lost his way. I had heard CCCM was not the same and that many people had left. As I mentioned I have no dog in this fight as I last spoke to Brian in person in 2008 and had a brief conversation with him online in 2016. I think about Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa and the days when your grandfather was there. It's sad that CCCM is barely a shadow of what it once was.

@@CalvaryChapelGal I have been with CCPhilly for almost 30 years. Joe is a great teacher and has such a great sense of humor. I first found out about him in 1995, listening to WFIL when I was in search of a place to worship and I felt that the Lord led me to that church. Here in 2024, some other Calvary pastors, seemed to have spiritually lost their way and it's upsetting. I guess the Lord is starting to separate the wheat from the tares.

When I lived in California I went to Jack Hibb’s church for around 3 years; but at one point I went to Brian Brodersen’s church for about a month. I found Brian to be somewhat watered-down, and overall the church was fairly flat in the Spirit. It’s too bad there was not an overt “Joshua” to take over for Chuck Smith, or an appointed governing body. There are still many solid Calvary Chapel’s out there, but let’s lift them up in prayer:
“Father, I lift up Calvary Chapel to you Lord, your will be done. It has been a special church over the years, a church your Holy Spirit has worked through much. I pray your Holy Spirit will continue to lead and guide and influence, and that you will set all of the issues straight. I pray you will raise up who ought to be raised up, and bring low who ought to be brought low. I lift up Brian Brodersen to you Lord, your will be done. I love you and I lift this all up in Jesus mighty name. Amen.”

As you were talking, the scripture of David and his son Adonijah came to mind. The one who wanted to take over the throne, but he was not the rightful heir to it. May God's will be done in this matter. He will work all things for the good for those who love Him and are the called according to His purposes. We put our trust in Him and Him alone. I started attending CC in 2021. God called me there while I was reading the Word one morning. I knew it was because He wanted me to learn the bible in it's proper context and also about Grace... Glory to God. I didn't know about this huge split or these big names except for Pastor Chuck Smith and his Wife. I have received solid teaching from CC, the other stuff doesn't even phase me. I sinced moved, but one of my very first CC pastor's and his wife were full of love, very hard working, humble and kind in every way. Pastor Chuck and Kay left a beautiful imprint of what true shepherds are. God's Word will always hold true and outlast anything else. I know I am getting solid teaching of the bible. Just because there's been some interruption this would not cause me to leave CC. How can you leave solid teaching of the Word? I don't follow after distractions, hype or man, because the Word always supercedes that. Thank you so much for honoring your grandparents legacy and sharing their hearts with us. God bless your family and Calvary Chapel!!!!

Always listened to Kwave and loved pastors perspective when Grandpa Chuck was on. Some hard questions would get asked and Chuck gave that hard answer, but it was a biblical answer and probably not what the caller wanted to hear. He did say it in a loving way though. I've had a hard time with Brian when he would answer those same type of questions and he would just do the Mexican hat dance , I would say to myself "that's not what Chuck would have said". Your Grandpa taught me The truth. When we would go on vacation we would always say let's go to a Calvary because it was always safe and we would hear the word. Guess not so anymore. Seeing the bible college get sold off, radio stations going by the wayside saddens me. Thank you Grand daughter putting this out there.

I had my fill of BB listening to Pastor’s Perspective on the radio, he said a few things that sent up immediate red flags. Pastor Chuck was incredible and I am so very thankful for him because our pastor, Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chino Hills, was a disciple of his and in turn, teaches us strictly from the Bible. No progressive BB nonsense at CCCH. Like Pastor Jack says, God is separating the wheat from the tare. He is letting bad churches die. Brian, was our pastor in the mid to late 80’s. At first we thought he was doing a pretty good job for awhile. Cheryl invited a woman to come speak at our women’s Bible study.
I was really troubled by what went on there that night.
I talked to my husband about it and we prayed about it over and over.
One Saturday morning he went to see Brian to talk specifically about the issue.
Brian told my husband that he needed to get control of his wife or we could both leave and not return.
We had been very involved with the congregation, my husband was really heartbroken with that. We never went back. It was a very painful time and we had a hard time finding a good church. It’s hard to trust when you’re so deeply hurt by your pastor.
I forgot to say that at the time services were held in a very small church in Vista, California. I don’t think Pastor Chuck was ill at that time so I’m pretty sure he set his daughter and son in law up with Brian’s first church.

My parents met in a church that was run very much like a cult during the Jesus movement, also in O.C. CA. The men were very controlling and had backwards ideas of how to treat their God given helpmates. I saw so many turned off and away from the Lord because of what they experienced in that environment. And the same thing. Except for about 3 visits. Nobody else either. No what it’s like to NEVER have human interaction? I’m use to it now, mostly. But one visit every 365 days! Me I’ll pray and read God’s precious, lovely, AWESOME Word over and over. Pray and worship in my house the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!!! I served in Calvary Chapel at many levels with the word lighting my feet. I know who is in charge. Thank you for the update, I am a Calvary Chapel Pastor in Fla. and we have stayed the course concerning the direction and vision your grandfather stood on for many many years. I know your uncle Paul prior to your grandfathers death was trying to remove Brian or at least hoping he would move on. Unfortunately this didn't happen. I remember the lawsuit between Brian and P. Paul concerning "the word for today" I am just curious to know if the ministry is currently Brian's or your Uncle's? I have ordered products from the website and would continue to do so if it is not under your Brian. It truly was sad when the split took place between CCA and CGN, it was heartbreaking yet, at least we are now able to discern between the two groups. Your grandfathers legacy continues on till this day through so many Calvary Chapel's to which i am grateful for! Your grandfather and grandmother are truly missed and look forward to seeing them in heaven. It took courage to share this video and i thank you for it. May the Lord bless you and your family until Jesus returns.

Your grandfather’s sermons are the best. As a new Christian about 15 years ago, they fed me on my daily commute to work and still do. Thanks for this clarification as I noticed Brian’s radio program where folks called in, he had some strange unbiblical outlooks, beyond the logical doubts of forbidding women to teach. Sorry your folks had to deal with this. But your grandfather’s pure teaching will long surpass the others.

I have been listening to Pastor's Perspective and still have Rick Warren (pals with Francis Collins good grief) on there promoting yikes. I also see the infiltration of globalistic ideals. Taking government monies to promote and influence uptake of certain substances and bringing on pro-poke individuals to sway the brethren to uptake poison is very immoral. I get they may have been deceived at the time but what about now? Left CCCM for these reasons and fully supporting JD Farag in Hawaii who has left this group. I hope CCCM has an spiritual epiphany soon and some repentance.

My life was radically changed because CCCM in the late 2000s. I was in my mid 20s when I listened for the first time to Chuck and Brian explaining passages in the Bible.
BB became my spiritual father and favorite teacher. I was baptized by him at Pirates Cove. Although I moved out of state, I continued to support BackToBasics ministry financially because I saw how God was working through it. I was also a CCCM missionary in Europe later on, for a couple years. In a few instances, I traveled to CA just to participate to the retreats for the men at the Hot Springs and in Twin Peaks.
During one of those retreats I asked Brian face to face about R Warren and others that he is associating with and why they are invited on Kwave, to which Brian assured me there is nothing there, they are just brothers in Christ that do things differently. I was not at ease with his response. But I continued to stand with him, up until I saw clearly his “white fragility” that he displayed during the BLM riots, his stance on freedom of speech basically standing in the same camp with the state oppressors.
I saw the entire CCCM changing, from the songs that are sang in such way that you need subtitles on to understand what they are saying, to the demographics of the assistant pastors, to fully standing in agreement with F. Collins, D. French and other liberal “christian” minds. Lots of devoted people left, people who served with him for decades.
That was it for me. I withdrew all our support and never visited since 2020 because I am certain the trajectory he is on is wrong. I hope people wake up before there is nothing left of that place, nothing that resembles of what it used to be.

Thank you for sharing this. It must have been a difficult decision. I live in Alabama. Never been to California. Never met Pastor Chuck. The first time I ever heard of him was in 2016 when I came across the Blue Letter Bible app while I was preparing sunday school lessons. I started listening to his sermons on my hour long commute each day. I learned so much from him. I've been a Christian my whole life. I'm 52 years old now. His teachings had such and impact on me. I wish I had heard him sooner. I learned more from him than I ever have from any other pastor or any other resource. Now, I am a pastor. have been for 5 years. I model my preaching and church services after Chuck Smith as best I can. We are a small independent congregation, who recently walked away from the UMC. We are not affiliated with calvary chapel. I did consider it though. But, we had a lot of other things going on at the time. So, I decided I will just do church the Chuck way even if we are not officially a calvary chapel church. My congregation is now learning more than they ever have learned before, because of this verse by verse teaching that I learned from your grandpa. I am so glad that his sermons have been preserved. I listen to him everyday. His legacy still lives on. More importantly, the work of God continues and he is still inspires people like me that find him through the various places his sermons are available. God bless you and your family. Thank you for sharing.

So glad the algorithm placed this video in my feed. I was saved in 1999 and couldn’t get enough of the teachings of your grandpa, Chuck Missler, Raul Ries, Pancho Juarez, Steve Mays, Ray Bentley, Mike Macintosh, Don McClure etc. on KWVE. When I attended my first Men’s Conference at the Anaheim Convention Center, I was in awe seeing several of those mentioned in person. In fact when Chuck Smith came out to open the conference, I was dumbstruck! (I used to belong to the Catholic religion. So for me, seeing Chuck Smith in person was like I had seen the pope!)
As the conference wound down, Brian Broderson was the last speaker. When he stepped up to the podium, many men got up and started walking out. The Convention Center was nearly emptied by so many men leaving. At the time, I thought it was guys just wanting to beat the traffic. But I noticed that happened at the following conferences I attended. For some reason, seeing that really bothered me.
Like many others, my wife and I were saddened to hear Chuck Smith passed away. It was also sadder to see the rift between CCCM (Brian) and other CCs. I never fully understood what was happening until I heard Brian’s stance on teaching the Book of Revelation and his plan for Big Cav. I was also shocked to hear Cheryl was also teaching on Sundays!

At the end of the day I think the big question is “Who’s ministry is this?” I’ve always found the practice of staffing key church positions with pastor’s family to be hugely problematic, likewise father pastors leaving their pulpits to their sons. It can so easily turn from an actual ministry to each protecting their little kingdom and forgetting that the work belongs exclusively to the Lord.

What a beautiful time in my life. Years later, I remember taking my mom to one of his services, shortly after she had become a believer. Your grandpa's sermon impacted my mom deeply. What she learned brought her great peace at the passing of her sister, shortly after. What we know is God already knew how things would turn out after your grandpa passed. God is still in control. We know God blessed the ministry there during Pastor Chuck's leadership and God's word does not return void. He is still using your grandpa's teachings and that blesses my heart. Man may be able to steal away the material things but he cannot take away what the Spirit of God has planted through the teaching of His word.
