    My hat's off to you for this reaction. The Relayer album isn't for everyone. I however am a huge fan, and was lucky enough to see it performed live. Thanks for taking the time for this magnificent piece of music. ❤️

    Based on Tolstoy`s War And Peace, this is another epic masterpiece from Yes, loved it 50 years ago and still loving it now!

  • @Yes_Jorge_Yes

    The gates of the delirium was Jon Anderson's interpretation of Tolstoy's War and Peace, starts with vilagers gathering discussing how they have been opressed for years, and they cannot continue and leaving the legacy of oppresions to their kids, they call for arms, and revelion and death to their oppresors, then comes the battle, and finally victory and the return home ( soon o soon the light) and there is peace for their children to enjoy. Steve Howe and Jon formalated most of the music with Patrick Moraz augmenting Steve parts with his counter parts battleling guitars and Keys, and of course the rythim section keeping the frenetic pace until the Soon part were all is resolved and peace reigns. A true Epic.

    Along with everything on the Close To The Edge album, this is my favourite Yes track. The battle section is just incredible. It's basically a musical reimagining of Tolstoy's War And Peace.

    I saw this live on my 16th birthday. It was recorded and is part of the yes shows album. I've seen them almost every tour since then and have seen this song done a few times. This band's live sound is absolutely amazing with very few exceptions.

      Yes symphonic tour has the best version on AND YOU AND I and highlights their best featuring each musician in the video. I've seen them probably 40-50 times and I choose this as their best. ( Second row center for that one. Behind Janie if any fans read this.)

    This is from the one album with Patrick Moraz. It was one of my first concerts at The Hollywood Bowl with Ace opening. Great guitar 🎸 by Steve Howe but even Yes realized these epic tracks had pretty much run their course & the follow-up Going For The One had shorter songs & even a single ! Wonderous Stories.

    An epic Masterpiece! It's a really complicated and fascinating piece of music. It's genius the first time you hear it and then every time after it gets better. Just so you know, you should listen to every YES song from the studio albums first, those are the best versions and have the best sound production, in my opinion. Try to find the remastered albums. I could see in your eyes Cythina that the song took you on a journey. That's what YES music does! Next time you do a YES reaction consider Side 2 of Relayer, both songs or 'The Revealing Science of God' from the Tales from Topographic Oceans album. YES!!! The greatest band there ever was or will ever be! Thanks for reacting!🤩

    This piece is a harrowing journey tbrough a horrific battle and then the stunning aftermath. Every stage of the cycle is expressed here', the beginning shifts from idyllic and peaceful to those little 'interruptions' with an ominous tone, as though tbere is something oppressive periodically disturbing the peace. Then the tension slowly builds until a decision is made to confront tbe oppressor. This then brings us to the "Listen...should we fight forever?" Section which expresses that doubt so beautifully, then the bad intentions of the opposing force is revealed and the decision to fight takes us right into the battle complete with cannon fire, bombs, swords clashing and blood-curdling screams. To me, the final aftermath, 'Soon' is simply the most beautiful ballad ever written and performed by a rock band. It is easily Jon Anderson's greatest vocal delivery ever put to vinyl..

    • @bgm1236
      @bgm1236 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

  • @wendellwiggins3776

    You made the right choice if listening to this masterpiece for the first time! This complete album is the HEIGHT of 70's YES at their most progressive. Because Rick Wakeman had quit prior, the anticipation of the LP was very high! Moraz's influence again pushed YES into unchartered places. OMG every time her eyes went back inside her head, I knew she'd reached nirvana! LOL! Lyrically Jon's poetry is more literal than ever. It's a musical interpretation of WAR & PEACE and linear progression about soldiers rallying in defense that includes a moment of self-reflection over the need for war just before committing to the intense battle that eventually leads to victory and the aftermath of peace with the hope that someday wisdom can end future conflicts forever... culminating on a positive note. I've seen all the Live renditions but there are a few well recorded versions later without Patrick Moraz on Keys plus the amazing 2001 Symphonic Tour with Orchestra (Tom Brislin on Keys) for future listening.

    Well done guys, my favourite Yes album bar none. Prog/symphonic rock at it's best. Epic.
    As a side note, a worth a listen too is Midnight Oil's ''Nothing Lost/Nothing Gained'' off their first and self-titled album. It hints at their prog rock roots until they changed their musical course after visiting the Funhouse in Sydney and seeing the likes of Radio Birdman and The Saints and realising if they didn't increase their BPM's (beats per minute) that they'd be left in the dust. Just like the two previous mentioned bands, Midnight Oil's first three albums are essential.

    This song was my choice for all-time greatest masterpiece from the day it came out until I heard Nightwish's "The Greatest Show On Earth." It's now 1b to the 1A of TGSOE, but that does not diminish the absolute genius of this composition. It's an important masterpiece and should be heard, and more importantly, listened to. Mankind keeps going around and around in the same circle, and we appear to be doing that today. Thanks for reacting to this incredible work of virtuosity.

    Wow, you've gone there!! This to me is the last great album of their "classic" era. In the UK, punk came in and altered the music scene (in some ways for the better) from c.1976 which affected Yes and other bands for a while. Fantastic track!

  • @bookhouseboy280
    @bookhouseboy280 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    "Relayer" marked a departure from the more symphonic sound of Yes' previous albums, incorporating elements of classical music, and jazz fusion with a heavier and more aggressive experimental approach to rock. While it was initially met with mixed reactions (a number of reviewers and fans struggled to appreciate its unconventional structures), the album has grown in stature over time.
    "Gates of Delirium" is often hailed as a pinnacle of prog rock, even if it pushed the boundaries of what is considered accessible or enjoyable for a wider audience with its audacious approach.
    Overall, the consensus on "Relayer" is that it is a highly influential and innovative album. It is often regarded as one of Yes' finest works, showcasing their artistry and creative vision, and has been acknowledged as a significant contribution to the progressive rock genre. Its reputation has endured.

    Remains the question perhaps the saddest question of all, with the saddest possible answer. Why do young men do this? We may be able to work out why given certain circumstances. However, the saddest thing of all is that none of us can even imagine a world where young men did not fight and kill each other as this goes to the very heart of what a human being is. God designed us this way, for both better and worse. It is what both kills us and keeps us alive.
