This 13 Year Old Sony APSC Prime Lens Is Great For Budding Content Creators!

Good day everyone! Here is a short video looking at the photo and video performance of the Sony 16mm F2.8 “pancake” lens for the Sony E-mount system on a ZVE-10. It can be used on Sony APSC and full frame cameras with the E-mount. Originally released in 2010 for the Sony NEX lines, it's a very controversial lens. Its advantages in 2023 are its extremely light weight and price. Personally, I feel it’s a good lens in 2023 for vlogging when used on newer Sony cameras such as the 6000 and ZVE series. It's photo capabilities are questionable for serious work but fine for thumbnails and accessory pictures.
For the video portion, I used manual mode with an aperture between 5.0-6.3. It was recorded in Slog 2(Picture Profile 7) and using manual focus.
For photos I used Superior Auto and manual focus. The pics in this video are either JPEGs from the camera or RAW files with an Adobe color profile added in Lightroom Classic.
If you’re using the a6000 series/ZVE-10, I recommend using manual focus with this lens. Autofocus is unreliable, possibly due to contract detect only, especially in scenes like these. I did use AF-S for some photos which is better than AF-C, but was still a hit or miss. If you want an affordable, lightweight secondary lens, I still recommend it despite these issues. I’m planning a review on it in the future once I have spent more time with it.
