    Having extensively tracked and autoX'd my E46, I can't imagine why you'd want to delete your power steering. If anything, I would want to install a quicker rack and smaller diameter steering wheel, in which case power steering would be even more desired. E46 is a heavy car compared to E30 or Lotus, plus the steering already gets pretty heavy when you're running 255 width tires up front with max caster.

      For autox I would never do this. But it’s track only. I want to simplify the system. I am removing a lot of weight from the car this season and am currently only running 245. If I don’t like it, I will probably do an electric pump.

      Understandable. It'll be interesting to see how you like it. How much weight are you hoping to take out of it? Mine was pretty close to stock weight so that could make a big difference. Also, I don't remember if you have already, but be sure to swap out your FCABs (and other susp bushings) and engine/trans mounts for harder units. Makes a huge difference. Putting M3 engine/trans mounts basically fixed the vague shifter feel in my 325ci (and may have saved you from your money shift). The other big mod I loved was the Mason Engineering clutch pedal, which relocates the engagement point much lower so you don't have to bend your knee so much when shifting (if you have long legs).

      Ill be doing Condor Engine and trans mounts for sure. And yes Ill be removing a lot of weight. The entire interior, sunroof, and ac.

      The spec E46 guys are getting down to 2800lbs, but they have limits on how much they can do.

      Stock wheels/suspension? If so check your alignment. Could also be a failing power steering pump/rack.

    They make a Poly Driveshaft Guibo for the Non-M E46 in case you're interested.

    • @EthanCommins888
      @EthanCommins888 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's by IRP And ECS Tuning has it for under $120 U.S dollars.

      Those driveshaft giubos are not a good idea unless the whole drivetrain and rear subframe are solid mounted. The stock rubber giubo allows for the drivetrain to have minimal stress and minimal power loss under situational dynamics; those aluminum/poly giubos put lots of internal stress on the transmission and diff. Plus the stock rubber one has no issues with it unless it wears out. Turbo e36/e46 guys use the stock rubber one with no problems.

      Ren Messinger wrong. Cody Aplin has a turbo E46 323Ci and has shredded at least 3 stock guibos and after welded my diff I immediately began shredding mine. Im about to buy a poly one

    Contrary to popular belief, "guibo" is actually pronounced "JEW-BO" and not "GWEE-BO". I just recently learned this myself. Still a funny name, though...
    I love your channel :)

    I remember my first e46.... No ahah I jk I just did this and unbelievable that BMW made installing this incorrectly full proof. I went for the middle ground of rubber band and off roading and installed the polyurethane. OMG 😍

    So, what do you think of no PS in the m3 on the track ? I also like the feedback of heavy steering but havent done this change yet. Just got the condor parts after watching this video

    I hope to be doing these mods on my channel soon. Though I won't have the engine out. Watching this makes me think I should pull the motor as it looked so easy with it out.

    Did you do anything to the torsion valve in the pinion?

    Are you planning on doing 330 brakes or will you keep the 325 ones? Also, are you still using the getrag transmission with the m54b30? I was going to use one in my 330, but everyone was telling me to get a ZF trans as the getrag might not be strong enough.

    • @ThrottleHouse
      @ThrottleHouse  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Im using a getrag yes. Its a find trans. Used it all last season with the 330 and it held up just fine. Keeping stock 325i brakes and upgrading pads

    • @edathi
      @edathi 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I figured it'd be fine as long as I stay non F/I. My brother's 328 is still using the stock brakes with race pads and he keeps up just fine in braking with me. GL with the build and I'll let you know if I find out anything more on the DIY sunroof panel. I might just try and figure it out myself as I have a pretty good idea on what to do.

    • @jabela16
      @jabela16 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      He'll be fine with stock brakes, especially since he's taking lots of weight out of the car. Just need upgraded track pads. If brakes still get hot he can go with brake scoops or ducts. If he's going to upgrade the brakes, not point in going to the same shitty 330 floating calipers with rubber bushings. Better to jump to a floating rotor setup for better feel.

    I just replaced my steering guibo, alot better now. But in doing so I've noticed that my steering is still all over the place. Now I've got to replace my tie rods, it never ends!!

      I feel your pain. I was chasing steering play in my e46 for a long time and finally tracked it down to play in the u joint at the top of the steering shaft. That was after replacing tie rods, steering rack, FLCAs and giubo...ugh

    • @N1NT3NDUD3
      @N1NT3NDUD3 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Throttle House when you go over uneven road, highway driving, the steering is under even. Also when the car is off, in accessory mode the steering wheel has tons of play. You can here knocking when your steer left and right.

      Ren Messinger yikes, I think it's definitely my tie rods, I'll know this weekend. I've got a ton of parts I'm putting in on my 330.

    This will make rack and pinion wear out very fast. When you have power steering hydrolics take lot of weight off these gears.
