    This one almost had it all... Jerry doing his dozer mania thing, Aaron crushing it, Matt shows up in relief and DP slinging mud. The only thing missing is the Cap’n coming in for comic relief!!!
    Now about that sentimental cedar... when we were first married, we were broke. I mean, after all the bills were paid we feasted on rice and beans, broke. So, we went on a scavenger hunt along the country roads to find a Christmas tree. Finally, we found it. A cedar that looked kinda symmetrical and about the right size. We cut it, tied it to the top of my Toyota and toted it home.
    You know, it looked a lot better standing by the roadside than it did up close. Sitting it in front of the picture window showed just how sparse the limbs were. Hanging ornaments on its droopy limbs opened it up even more.... and, do you know how many critters take refuge in a cedar during cold weather?
    Some friends came over for a visit. We all laughed and they took a Polaroid photo of us standing beside it. That turned out to be the only picture we have of our first year of marriage... as ugly as the tree was, it is still my favorite!
    Keep digging... I’ll keep watching.

      Probably a hellava consultant on problems like the water issue on this project as well. Can you imagine the hours saved with Jerry running that dozer.
      You probably noticed no wasted passes across the bottom of that pond as he was cleaning out the mud, and at the same time making it bigger...
      That is stuff you just can't teach to a "newbie" operator. It only comes from time in the seat of the equipment...

    Older dozers are way better than some of those computer complicated . Man behind the scenes is learning well. Jerry is the man. Mike, you have the makings of a great crew and you hang onto the 120 for man behind the scenes to practice on. Won't be long before your company will have to expand. 👍👍🇨🇮🇨🇦🐶❤

    Chris (letsdig18) always said that the base of the pond needed to be waterproof as well. With taking dirt out of the bottom does that bring up questions of water leaking through the bottom or is the quality of the bottom good enough to handle taking some of it out? What are the qualities you are talking about as far as good core material versus bad. Sand content, clay content particle size, moisture content? Here in Dallas they have started doing this Chinese fire drill of digging a big hole and then filling it back in with the same material only tracking it down after spraying it with water. Very scientific. We have deep expansive black clay here and I guess some CE figured they would get good compaction numbers that would last long enough for them to get the building built and occupied. All that wetting down will last maybe one season. Clay here expands 1/8 inch each way from bone dry to saturated. It will lift a slab in one place and leave it down in another. Busts the hell out of them.

    • @DirtPerfect
      @DirtPerfect  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lookin for any type of clay that’s not gray

  • @Ras7685
    @Ras7685 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm surprised your not using a sheeps foot for the dirt compaction. The problem with the smooth drum, compaction doesn't penetrate and once the dirt gets wet it turns to mud and will move. I know this from 45 years of doing dirt and rock work. Good Luck !

    What's the squeaky squeaky all about at full extension when you're reaching across the dam opening?

    when you panned to your truck near the beginning it looked like you had it resting on the tilt bed to keep it up, if it was or was not is not the point, you put the cart before the horse was my thought...

    Is that squeal I’m hearing when you extend the dipper stick all the way out a pressure relief valve in the line so you won’t blow the lines or barrel of the ram on the stick?

      @@DirtPerfect thanks for the response, that is the first time I payed attention to it. I like the idea of soft stop. Do you know, Are all companies running that on their machines or Is this a Volvo thing?

    Do you install a spillway or overflow on these dams? Great job and coming along nicely!

  • @shadowbanned69
    @shadowbanned69 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Soooo....now that you have solidified the damn, im gonna assume that its not gonna leak anymore. So what happens when it fills up and there's no riser pipe for overflow and drainage? That spring seems to wanna flow pretty good...id say ya might need a spillway for runoff or for when you get a serious fall rain?
