@ I’ve been kind of wanting to go undercover and do a documentary of these shills. I rather be broke and honest then to take advantage of innocent people.
There was a cult on our campus when I was in college called "The Body." It was a pseudo-Christian cult created by a former professor of religion. It did some good, like helping people get off drugs, but it also preyed on the gullible. Some quit school and moved in with the leader. Some gave him more money that they could afford. They all pretty much gave up socializing with other students in any capacity. One of my fraternity brothers, who was a devout Christian, abstained from alcohol, and was a star athlete got wrapped up in it with the encouragement of his girlfriend who was in the cult. His parents lured him away from campus for a weekend. They had hired deprogrammers who worked with him for a week. He got out, but was never the same. Campus administration held an open.meeting about the cult. Some members and former members showed up. It was very tense, but the cult did not last much longer.
The most interesting cult to me is probably the Moonies (Unification Church). Everything from the strange practices, to the par-for-the-course cult of personality around it's founders, to the drama of the factious split following Sun Myung-Moon's death, to the fingers they have in various political and financial enterprises in Korea, Japan, and the US. Moon's wife Hak Ja Hanstill runs the main church, but their sons Sean Hyung-Jin Moon and Justin Kook-Jin Moon split to found "Rod of Iron Ministries", for which they bought a compound outside of Waco, Texas ('cause irony is dead) and another in Tennessee, where Sean wears a crown of bullets and they use AR-15's as ceremonial objects of worship. They also have their own martial arts style, called "Tong-Il Moo-Do", (which tends to resemble WF Taekwondo, but with grappling).
I'm a biproduct of the moonie cult and I had no idea they had their own martial art, and I'm about to make a martial arts channel. This post is invaluable to me, thank you oh my god. I'm about to go down a whole rabbit hole.
Props on you being respectful, I don't think I could've been. Maybe at first, but yeah. I have really learned something about myself this past year. I really, really hate the frauds inside the martial arts community, and hate people that aren't willing to put in the work with training, but place themselves on a pedestal as some magical master. Good thing I focus my time in the training instead I guess, lol! Good video as usual. 🍻
so fascinating that this came up today because I'm a biproduct of the Moonie cult, professional violinist and amateur martial artist who's literally gonna start a martial arts channel about the intersection of all those things (particulaly how the tools, tactics, reasons and signs of a cult show up in martial arts/music/life way more than you think.)
I was airbending as soon as I woke up this morning, what a coincidence! Also good on you for the Sean Strickland taps Rob, there’s no need to hurt someone that isn’t able to defend themselves. I know, Strickland also goes the other extreme lol.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. As the self-appointed Archmage of the planet, I'll happily use the Farce to shut him down and fail in salty fashion. He's already doing it to himself, but extra PK pushing can make it happen faster and more hilariously so that his grift will reach its natural end that much quicker.
Imagine this being real. You see a huge punch coming and think you are about to lose a fight. And then... a light breeze tingles your moustache. Simply devastating
The most interesting cult that I can think of first and foremost is NXIVM led by Keith Raniere. It was fascinating to see how many women fell into that trap and emerged from it, but the most fascinating part was the involvement of Allison Mack. It is scary to see just how much she ate up Keith's non-sensical dogma; How far she helped take things to by recruiting, blackmailing and branding other women into Keith's service. The documentary is worth watching, but nothing convinced me more on how both were so out to lunch than the interview that Allison did of Keith. Listening to both of them and seeing their body language spoke volumes of how deceptively scary his influence was over her and probably all the other women that stayed with him to the end.
Who's paying money to learn this? The same people who fell for the Hawk Tuah girl's crypto scam? "A fool and his money are lucky to get together in the first place." Gordon Gekko from Wall Street. Great video. Keep 'em coming. S P.S. The most interesting cult I've ever heard of was the Stalin era Soviet Union.
I've heard that in Brazil there are some gangs where members have to necessarily believe the same religion and practice the same martial art that the founders of the gang did, in order to become and stay as part of that organization. I've heard that from Brazilian martial artists but I don't have more info (they're not part of it, it's just there *are* some gangs that mix religion beliefs and martial style with the membership requirement)
What? Never heard of! But something like happens in Rio with drug cartel that uses symbols and words and a flag of Israel, some protestants here adopts sionism and think they're united but Jews don't accept jesus as a God himself or reverences homages to her mother holy Mary like Catholics do
Reminds me of James Hydricks in the 80’s…..claimed he learned martial arts from a wondering monk that came to his house in like Wisconsin. Dressed like Bruce Lee in a yellow jump suit. He did all the magic tricks like moving telephone book pages, putting out candles with his chi. Got made a fool of on a tv show when he couldn’t do his tricks under test conditions. Then he went to prison for child molestation.
The most interesting cult that I have run into is the good ole boys club. It amazes me because no matter how bad they are or how much financial damage they do to a business, they survive. I currently work in the nuclear industry. I can assure you that club is super prevalent in my line of work. Be glad that the government is keeping a close eye on this form of energy.
If someone is dumb enough to spend money on this, they totally deserve to lose it. They failed the IQ test. At the beginning of the video, I totally thought this was satire. 😆
I am not sure about stuff like this, but with cults in general, a lot of people with higher education fall for it. I watched a video of a cult deprogramer ( helps people get out of cults, and he has met and studied the cult leaders), and he mentioned that he has helped 4 people who were doctors. There was a cult he mentioned that I end up looking up, and they got away with a lot of shit they did because they had lawyers in their cult.
I've been using the power of wind in BJJ for years. Once i've made a blue belt tap inside my spider guard, just by releasing the power of my inner wind on him. I am sorry for the rest of the people on the mat that day,but it worked just fine, now i consider it a proven technique and i am eager to someday use it in some championship.
Not surprised at all, but still happy that you didn't physically bully, or clown the kid who actually agreed to spar/train with. Yes it would have gotten views as another "exposed" video, but that would go against this channel's ethos . It also scares people away from actually showing up to a real school and learning. No real martial artist gatekeeps our sport. The more people who end up falling in love with this, the better it'll be for our society on so many levels .
We're in the grift era. There's enough misinformation plus a failure in the education system to allow grifting to be highly profitable. Master both and you too can be President.
My favourite cult are the "cargo cult". Basically during the world wars, some of the Polynesian Islands thought the American air crafts were the gods as the brought food and supplies to them. There is even a bamboo plane and bamboo airport hanger. As they tried to recreate so the gods would bring food back for them haha. BTW the airbender stuff was just all crazy. you could even hear the wind in his videos

The most interesting was yellow bamboo because of the documentary, “3 Miles North of Molkom” if you’re a fan of fake martial arts you’ll love this documentary. The rugby player is the best person in it. Haha
Lmao! I am pretty sure that the wind in the trees was blowing towards him in the video. So it’s more like a vacuum punch than a force punch I guess? Idk whatever lol
The most "interesting" cult IMHO was a group of martial artists that used crucifixes to stop people hitting them and used "divine" power to protect them, a bit like the yellow oyster cult that got that poor ladys pevis broken when a guy steamed into her ! Sound is good and mic is good quality so no probe Rob. Happy new year

Magick=5 Dillmans, that is the rule, no? The cult of dead stocks? Religion?
His “magick” martial art is legit!!!!!
Unfortunately, for him, I was able to nullify his attacks by moving my big toe
You sure it wasn't because your tongue was in the wrong position?
Brilliant move, can't knock you out then😂
Also doesn't work if you're not a believer

we had 'marbo' in a small uk town in the 80's. martial arts plus survival and secret teachings.

The Yellow Bamboo cult ranks up at or very near the top of my list of Kung Foolery.
I, too, can summon the wind. I just need to eat lots of bean burritos.
This is where having a Dad at home benefits a boy.
The second this goofy stuff started to be talked about, my Dad would've picked the crap outta me.
It's hilarious that you can hear the wind on camera😅
The Delusion is strong in this one!
“Turn into a squware clood, turn into a square.”

Honestly that foil game looks fun.
Unfortunately I can’t afford to learn his powers.
ForceBoxing is an unblockable styre, it’s only known weakness is 4 walls and a roof
Imagine not paying attention in physics class and then claiming simply physics is magic
Magik with a k is what Alastair Crowley he was a very interesting just look him up he was into that chi or magik b.s.

I’m pretty sure this new martial art is legit. If you’re under five feet tall, you need to know how to strike upwards.
