- listen. i loved the father-daughter relationship Daryl and Lydia had in the show and Needed to make a comp of it. i’m so sad that they didn’t really continue it as much after, like, Silence The Whisperers (they didn’t even hug after defeating the Whisperers??), but hopefully there will be more of them in season 11!! it would be Awesome if Lydia was in the Daryl-Carol spin-off.
anyway, maybe i will do Negan-Lydia bonding? because they also have a really cute father-daughter relationship going on. Negan kinda takes over that at the end of season 10.

@@hollowinside1962 I feel his childhood was worse than growing up in an apocalypse. Cuz at least Judith is surrounded by walls and is loved by her parent(s). Daryl was in an abusive home and wasn't loved by his father and was beaten. Plus there was that one time he had to fend for himself in the forest for I think 9 days as a a kid.
Edit: Sorry I kinda forgot that this was about Lydia, my mind thought we were talking about Judith. Yeah Lydia for sure had a worse childhood.
Honestly I think for Daryl there was no difference because he had to fend for himself and grew up in a violent environment. It’s just that everyone else went through what he went through
When you go through life as a stray, you see and love the other strays. Those kids are Daryl's people
Reminds me a lot of Daryl and Beth's relationship. After Hershel died, Daryl kinda stepped into the role of being a father-figure to her, teaching her how to track, and helping her to grow as a person, like when it came to getting her her first drink.
If Beth had survived, I think she would've grown into a very capable young woman. So, I guess Lydia is Daryl's second chance.

@@golden_left_nut2260 I think its better with Daryl. It was a great decision to add him in despite not being in the comics. I don't think they were trying to 100% recreate the comics in live action to begin with. I think they just wanted to see where it would go, and they got to take many twists and turns and really make the whole universe more robust. They've done a pretty damn good job in my book. IDK why people are always hating on shit, like yeah Carl was bs, there are only a handful of things like that in the entire series.
Makes sense for him to step in Rick's shoes after Rick died, especially as a father figure for Judith. Also at the beginning of season 9 Rick wanted Daryl to practice being a leader at Sanctuary.
I love when Daryl gets serious he gets a raspy growl in his voice and it is both intimidating and awesome! Just adds to his character.

More like Season 11. They still had a lot of time shared in Season 10. Season 11, Darryl just kind of dropped her and took up raising Jude and RJ after that.

While the job of raising the child is primarily the parents responsibility, the parents cannot possibly do everything, and sometimes it can help to have someone who has a little different perspective, because they can teach the child certain things that maybe the parents, for one reason or another, are unable to.
Daryl and negan I feel can relate to her and understand what she's going through in different ways like negan can understand being the outcast and daryl can relate to her with the abuse she endured
They both relate to her in different ways, Daryl with her abusive past, and Negan with being judged for someone he's not anymore.
It's a shame Daryl and Lydia did not have many scenes together in seasons 10 and 11

She will be. I think Leah will be too even if she dies in the final season. There will most likely be flashbacks to when Darryl was alone with Leah in the wilderness.
It's now just a Darryl Spinoff. I could see Lydia joining him but also see her joining Isles with Maggie, Negan, Elijah. Like even if Lydia dies, which I'm 99.99% sure she won't, they will still have her in flashbacks I'm sure.

Well Daryl knows how it feels to be abused, and then mistrusted because he’s different than most everyone else. It took him a really long time to accept that it wasn’t his fault, I’m sure he was trying to impart the same message to her. It’s what humans do when they feel empathy.
