By default, AMS can also be toggled with the tilda right beside your [1] key. Really only useful if you're hot while running LAMS or for some reason are trying to hide your position temporarily. Breaking lock is *not* the end of a missile shower. When a LRMer loses lock, any missiles they had in the air will switch to targeting the ground of your last known location. If the cover won't block missiles on its own, be sure to keep moving a little bit so that they are landing on empty earth.
Remember, if you have no ECM coverage, after losing viscon with your enemies (including their UAVs) they can stay locked on you for about 5 more seconds (with fully skilled up "target decay").
It cannot be stressed enough how important radar deprivation is for slower mechs when it comes to avoiding LRMs. 100% is just the best. Thanks for the tips, TTB!

Spreading the LRM weapons on many mechs with out Boating LRMs seems to be a much more viable option too me.
Pirahana mech cipher variant. If you can manage to get behind the enemy lines unseen, you can run up real close and alpha damage them in the back. They really don't like that, especially at the beginning of the game. At which point, their mech will topple over or it will turn around to get you and you will also get the attention of other mechs which means that you run like crazy trying to not get shot but they won't be shooting at your teammates leaving them free to focus on their opponents unhindered by lrms
Well on the Piranha i run 1 Laser and 4 MGs just to have something and then a mix of 2 LAMS and 2AMS with 1 ton ammo. Good enough for shielding your team as you can quickly adopt your position to everywhere you are needed. And my Nova-S runs 2 ERPPCs along with the AMS. Very classical.

60% Radar Deprivation is a must. 100% is magic. AMS isn't necessary, but if you take it and there are LRMs or MRMs around, this will pay for itself several times over in the form of less damage taken for you and your team... meaning more armor later when you need it.
A Narc or a UAV counters 100% Radar Deprivation completely. same if they have a Light mech that has already targeted you. so long as you are targeted by an enemy. their lurmers Can keep lock on you.
@@eldrenofthemist2492 Right, but once you break line of sight to anyone who sees you, its a matter of how long you want the rain to keep falling. no radar deprivation for you and target lock for the other guy and you'll get hit by 2 more salvos of lurms before they lose lock.
@@gbprime2353 I agree with you there. Any Proper LRM player will get the "Bonus lock on time" from skill tree. Which can boost lock on time I think to 3.5 sec. Which helps to counter the 60% radar deprivation. Also the closer you are to the LRM player, the faster they will get locks on you. which means you have a longer time window they are LRMing you. And I do agree that radar deprivation is better then nothing. though some machs can make do, By staying close to cover or being fast enough to get to cover Or being fast enough to avoid/Dogde LRM rain.
One important thing to remember is that most LRMlords run heavy mechs, so they are not very agile (aside from the 2LRM15 2ML shadow cat or similar) because they want as dense volleys as they can (4lrm20 is a wet dream for them and their BAS). Shoot and forget weapons are best (PPC, gauss, etc..) or heavy streams that unnerve them (several ACs in asyncronous fire, so they are all suffering impacts). Finally, LRMlords tend to be absorved in their minigame of tag+fire, and suffer a lot in maps with vertical blocks (Solaris City can be quite hard for them), but are more efficient in hot maps (caustic valley, terra therma...) because they can minimize exposure, can adjust their damage output to their heat better (they dont even need line of sight to the target), etc...
Must be playstyle or something, lrms almost never hurt me let alone kill me. Don't stray away from hard cover, most maps have really easy cover to use that will make lrms useless and after the changes to polar Highlands they're really easy to deal with. Also if you are in hard cover with no line of sight and still getting hit you can do a quick power down to hopefully take you off radar.
I beg to differ. The PIR-A is the mech that I have shot down the most missiles. 1 laser AMS 3 regular AMS and 2 tons of ammo and I shot down over 5000 missiles with that mech. I eventually overheated when I ran out of ammo but my team won. So the piranha is a good mech plus it's a light mech and fast. Oh and I have a build that is a crit seeker. I have 8 machine guns and 1 ton of ammo. It's not going to hunt the missile boats but it will eat their missiles and hunt finishing kills. So it's a certain style of play. :) great in faction play actually but faction seems dead.
You (viewers) should have learned one important detail from this lesson - being an ECM/AMS mech is very useful for your team (especially for big, awkward allies).
UAVs and enemy mechs that target you. will keep LRMs raining on you. even if you have ECM. If an enemy is targeting you. it allows their allies to lock on to you. Even if you are out of sight. So 100% Radar Deprivation is worthless. If you are targeted or under an enemy UAV. also Narc counters Radar Deprivation and ECMs
@@KavLRist Getting hit once by a narc will Counter Radar Derp. Also it can be hard to spot spotters, or if there are many of them, that is also a problem. and you forget Spotters normally are shooting you. While targeting you. So your being hit by Weapon fire. and soon enough LRMs on top of that. UAVs can be shot down. but only if people take the time to do so. If people even notice them in the first place.
@@KavLRist You have some good points. XD Though you can tell if your missiles are hitting. Because your aimer lights up red I believe when you do damage. So they can tell if they are just waisting their LRM missiles. Not sure about if friendly or enemy PPC de-activates narcs as well. Also so long as you have a narc on you. It doesn't matter if the one who fired it is under your ECM range. The Narc will still counter your ECM and light you up to be targeted by your enemies. Only an ally who also has ECM will counter the Narc on you. is what I heared. Also if the enemy Missile mech is closer to you. they will be able to counter your ECM by faster locks. same with line of sight. makes it faster to lock on to you. For example. I have never heared of any one Being protected from SSRMs by using a ECM. but AMS will still try to shoot down any missile types. And I don't know if your tag still helps you allies who are not in ECM range, If you are under ECM range. I'm Pretty sure if you Narc some one, While under his range. the Narc still works. And makes it so your allies can still target him. The Narc doesn't deactivate the ECM I don't think. But it does counter it like an ECM in counter mode. and on top of that. it lights you up for LRMs of any enemy to target and lock on you. I don't know if the Tag helps allies target your enemies who is being hit by tag. But I think it does. Edit: on that note. I know you can't target enemies while stealth armor is activated. But can you still use tag on a enemy to aid your allies Lock on. While Your stealth armor is activated? I do know that tag hitting an enemy who has stealth armor active will make it so you can target the Guy being hit by the tag.
