Francis you inspired me to buy the exact same truck for my father and he is now obsessed with rc rock crawling! He has done many many upgrades like portal axles and a fusion motor esc. He also did all lights including the dashboard. As soon as it’s finished we will try to make a video to post here on TH-cam. Your great review was extremely helpful when buying this truck. I went trx4 chassis kit + injora d110 hardbody. Get all the upgradability of the trx4 and the cool factor of a hardbody. Enjoying this build immensely!

What did you do for a roof rack system.
I like the TRX4 defender roll cage/roof rack.
@@havyglass I used the stock trx4 roll cage and roof rack. Dimensions are just right but need to do some dremel and drilling to mount it.

My concern for many of these non-standard size kits is the lack of replacement parts when stuff breaks. Body looks amazing though, I'd like to see more 1/8th scale trail rigs from the mainstream market.
replacement parts is a concern for sure!!
The parts that would normally break you can make yourself. Only stuff hard to do is gears and intricate plastic mouldings. But with old broken parts caches like mine I just take larger parts make them smaller or make new parts from other broken stuff. I always collect weird things and my wife thinks I’m crazy. Than, once in a while it really pays off. Suspension arms, supports for my monster trucks are all made by myself and they never break. Also replace all shitty hardware and by Steele or go titanium if you want maximum sheer strength
This would be a real concern for a normal fast RC car but with a crawler, you’re unlikely to break things unless you have a really nasty fall.

Room for improvements for sure, if the after market can get behind this, it could turn out to be a great trail truck.
We're diving into this thing now. Will have another video. I don't think aftermarket will support this. We have a 3d printer though and some crew that have skills.
@@RCReviewChannel I just received this truck and judging by the instructions the company gives you, it seems not even the company(Double E) cares about aftermarket or replacement parts.Its a great platform to add your own electronics or whatever.Are the diffs metal if anyone know?I want to get the motor and esc that is recommended in the the second or third video of this vehicle by him.

That thing with aluminum wheels, good foams and tires, a 25kg servo, HW1080 and a 27T TrailMaster can be a really nice Trail Truck.
Are the lights and radio difficult to change over to new HW1080 ?

I had one last year. The thing was junk. So many parts broke on it. If you want an excellent 1/8 scale crawler, check out the Traction Hobby Founder 2 or Cragsman.

Hello Sir, Thank you for your reviews. I bought the Double EE and upgraded to a better ESC and a better brushed motor and it has absolutley no torque. travels on flat surfaces but cant climb over anything. Any idea?
Pretty cool rig. 1080 esc and a better servo which you have to do with most RTR's and your on a winner

I really enjoy your channel. I'm just getting into crawling. I have been a basher for years and crawling seems so enjoyable. I ordered the gen 7 to start out with. I have 3s and 2s batteries. Can that model handle 3s. Redcat recommend 2s but 3s for experience drivers. I'm light on the throttle as I run my 6s bashers better then my buddies on 4s. What do you recommend for performance but not over stressing it. Is there any benefit to 3s on a crawler? I'm not looking for speed. Thank you.

There might be some setting in the esc to change the crawler reverse setup? Maybe google that Francis. Some new electronics and new tires and wheels and a few upgrades and it might be a badass big crawler. Lol. I e been waiting for some company to make a 1/5 crawler that was nice. More realistic and scale😁👍

I broke the front axle ball almost immediately, is there a suggested axle replacement you know off. All I can find are 1/10 scale.

I don't know much of this hobby, but is it simple to upgrade parts on this RC rover?.
I want to buy my first crawler for FPV conversion and this body seems like it has plenty of room for an FPV setup.
I really like this platform, but I don't like the running gear. Can the be converted to the HOBBYWING motor/esc combo?
Can be converted for sure. But all-in-one receiver has to be replaced too.

This is version 2 i hear. How is yours holding up?
@@RCReviewChannel yea the v2 has a shorter wheelbase making it look slightly more scale as well as the tow shackles and steel driveshafts so a definite upgrade. Mine has been holding up extremely well. Nothing broken at all, running it on 3s since I got it.

It was glitching because of water in the receiver.

@@georgefisher8568 First off, I learnt a lot from you RC maestros on TH-cam, everything I tried on the truck is from shows like yours. Now, I added a lot of weight to lower parts: brass links, much heavier tires: I wound lead coils round the round metal inserted into the wheel, then I used hard springs:2mm wire the springs were made of, and I think it worked, at least it suited what I'm aiming at with it.
